00:00 was exchanging some opinions today,
00:03 first about Michael Penix,
00:05 but eventually it gets back to Georgia
00:07 'cause they wanna pick my brain
00:08 and not just have a one-way conversation.
00:10 But it's funny, guys, Kamari Lassiter,
00:14 this'll be the test.
00:15 And I love having tests like this
00:17 'cause they expose people in the national media,
00:19 okay, not necessarily the scouting world.
00:21 You're not gonna hear opinions from scouts out there,
00:23 you know, actual NFL scouts,
00:25 but these guys that get paid to give NFL draft opinions,
00:28 they're gonna expose themselves this year on Kamari Lassiter.
00:30 Okay, and they already are in certain rankings.
00:33 I've seen PFF and other websites,
00:35 other national media outlets come out
00:37 with their top 20 cornerback rankings.
00:39 And guess what, Kamari Lassiter's not on them
00:42 because they're just checking either box scores
00:44 or just watching the TV broadcasts on Saturday.
00:47 And you know who isn't getting thrown at right now?
00:50 Kamari Lassiter, he is not.
00:52 You know why?
00:53 He's strapped, he's absolutely strapped.
00:55 So you know who has been paying attention?
00:57 The sumbitches that are watching the All-22, all right?
01:00 The guys who are actually tape watching, okay?
01:03 So if anybody that you respect is out here
01:06 kinda not talking about Kamari Lassiter as an NFL corner,
01:09 lose some respect, all right?
01:11 Just a hair, all right?
01:12 'Cause they're not watching
01:13 what they're supposed to be watching.
01:14 He is an all tape watcher right now.
01:16 They were in 100% agreement
01:18 on the Cedric Van Praan opinions.
01:20 He's played really, really well.
01:21 There's gonna be a physical measurement that knocks him,
01:24 okay, it's not gonna be a major knock,
01:26 it's not gonna be like, oh my God, what the heck.
01:28 It's gonna be a, okay, maybe we don't draft him
01:30 in the top 25 picks type of knock with Cedric.
01:34 Carson Beck, the word is,
01:37 little bit of, how about this one?
01:39 Little bit of CJ Stroud.
01:41 Little bit of CJ Stroud in the comparisons.
01:44 Flawless mechanics, processors, okay?
01:48 Not elite twitch as an athlete,
01:50 but enough to make some stuff happen.
01:52 What the NFL's waiting on
01:53 is that 26, 27, 28 game sample size, okay?
01:57 But once that happens, once they feel firm about that,
02:00 we've been very consistent on this as well.
02:03 NFL is very scared of one year starters
02:05 in college football nowadays.
02:06 They're kinda waiting for that seasoning.
02:07 They wanna see, hey, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17.
02:11 Wanna see a 25, 26 game starting sample size, okay?
02:14 I think the stat I heard
02:16 was some type of number of attempts.
02:19 I think it was 900 collegiate attempts,
02:21 something like that, that they wanna see.
02:22 Just 'cause it's a repetition thing.
02:24 I wanna see you time over time.
02:26 So 2025 draft class,
02:29 Carson Beck's starting to be rumored in that,
02:32 hey, gotta look out for him.
02:33 We need to be judging this guy
02:35 in terms of a first-round draft pick.
02:37 They think he's been making some ballsy throws, okay?
02:40 Some NFL-type throws.
02:42 We showed one on tape this morning,
02:44 or yesterday morning on patreon.com/brooksaustin.
02:46 One of the incomplete balls to Ladd McConkie on Saturday
02:50 was a deep over where they're playing Tampa too,
02:52 so the middle linebacker from Vandy's gotta turn.
02:55 His back is to the defender.
02:57 His back is to the ball, okay?
03:04 So when the back is,
03:06 or when the linebacker is not playing
03:08 with his eyes to the quarterback, okay?
03:11 And we got this deep over running this way,
03:15 and this middle linebacker's gotta turn,
03:17 flip his hips, and start running in trail position like this.
03:19 He's not looking at you as a quarterback.
03:21 So I know my receiver is,
03:23 so even though my receiver's running this way,
03:25 if I wanna throw a ball here and stop this guy
03:28 and throw it over the back right shoulder
03:30 of this linebacker, he's never gonna get his head around.
03:34 He's never gonna be able to look at it, all right?
03:36 These are the only types of balls you throw
03:38 if you're gonna play on Sundays, all right?
03:40 When everything is covered,
03:41 when everything looks like it's been taken care of
03:43 defensively, and you throw an undefendable ball, okay?
03:46 That's what Sunday throws look like.
03:49 He's making a lot of those.
03:50 He's made a lot of those over the last couple of weeks.
03:53 And to me, it's shown ultimate confidence in his abilities.
03:56 Like, when I see quarterbacks starting
03:58 to make those types of throws, I'm like, all right,
04:01 this guy's not only feeling himself,
04:03 this guy's playing within the offense,
04:04 he's very confident, and he has confidence of his teammates.
04:08 So notice that as well.
04:09 - So wait, are you saying it's pretty much
04:12 already a foregone conclusion
04:13 that he stays after this year?
04:15 - I'm not breaking news there.
04:17 I don't have it on good authority inside the building
04:20 that that is the case.
04:21 I'm just telling you, reading all the tea leaves,
04:24 he's coming back.
04:25 - That's what the NFL believes, at least scouts.
04:27 - That's what the NFL, yeah.
04:29 They're evaluating him for 2025.
04:31 - Got it.
04:32 - Now, that's not to say he might not come out.
04:35 If he comes out, then they'll just evaluate him
04:37 based off what they have,
04:38 and his draft stock will be impacted by that, okay?
04:41 I'm just telling you, I think Carson Beck
04:44 has first-round traits and abilities,
04:46 but he has to have two years of tape for it to happen.
04:49 If it doesn't happen, you've seen the class this year.
04:51 The class this year has him being
04:53 a third or fourth-round draft pick if he comes out,
04:55 which is fine, but he's not gonna have an opportunity
04:58 to start immediately if you're a third
04:59 or fourth-round draft pick coming out,
05:01 unless you're Davis Mills, and you get lucky
05:04 'cause you're drafted by Houston,
05:05 and then you get replaced anyways.
