00:00 Oh, there we go, just got me on the finger.
00:02 Got him, he is massive.
00:04 That is crazy.
00:05 So this is the biggest species of crocodile in the world.
00:09 This is another day in Borneo.
00:10 Oh, he's closed.
00:14 We're currently staying deep in the jungle of Borneo,
00:24 attempting to track down some of the most dangerous
00:27 creatures in the world.
00:28 And over the next few episodes on these wild lands,
00:31 we'll be working with massive king cobras,
00:34 man-eating saltwater crocodiles, so many different species
00:37 of snakes, and even orangutans deep
00:40 in the tropical rainforest.
00:42 This is going to be a pretty crazy adventure.
00:44 Let's get into it.
00:45 So last night we jumped on a boat,
00:47 chucked all of our gear in there.
00:48 This is not a big boat either, a little one.
00:50 Filled it with people and came out here to Batua village
00:53 out here in Borneo.
00:55 And this is a place where the people live alongside big
00:58 saltwater crocodiles, lots of venomous snakes.
01:00 But what's really interesting is there's never been
01:02 a crocodile attack in this area.
01:04 And they believe that they have a relationship
01:06 where they don't hurt the crocodiles
01:07 and the crocodiles don't hurt them.
01:09 But what we're going to be doing today is getting
01:11 in a little boat, going up the river,
01:13 and trying to track down some monster crocodiles.
01:15 It's going to be pretty crazy.
01:16 The boats that they actually go and fish in,
01:19 I would never even think about going in the water
01:21 with big crocodiles back in Australia.
01:23 But this is what they do every single day.
01:25 We're going to jump in, head up the river,
01:26 and see what we can find.
01:28 (boat engine roaring)
01:32 - There, there, there.
01:48 - You see?
01:49 - Oh yeah, little.
01:51 Bronzeback?
01:52 - Wow.
01:55 Look at the size of that snake right there.
01:59 That is a little non-venomous bronzeback.
02:01 Just as we're cruising up this river,
02:02 getting to the zones where the big crocodiles
02:04 will be hanging out.
02:05 And the thing that's crazy is while we've been
02:07 cruising up here, so crazy to see the villages
02:10 that live in this area literally swimming in the water.
02:12 But yeah, pretty cool little fella.
02:15 We're going to let him go.
02:23 So now we've just got out of that open stretch,
02:26 and we've made it into the jungle.
02:27 This is where most of the animals are.
02:29 This is where most of the snakes are.
02:31 So we're going to be cruising up this river
02:32 for a bit longer, and seeing what we can find
02:34 throughout the day.
02:35 (men laughing)
02:40 - Just keep the center of the boat yourself.
02:51 - Record.
02:53 - I'm recording.
02:54 - Woo!
02:59 - This is mangrove cat snake up in this tree right here
03:04 in the day.
03:08 I think we got him.
03:10 There we go.
03:15 Hey mate.
03:17 The beautiful mangrove cat snake out here in the day.
03:21 Like the one that we caught the other night,
03:23 he's trying to have a go at me at the moment.
03:24 They're a mildly venomous snake.
03:26 So if I got bitten, I would be okay.
03:29 But still not a species that you want to get a big dose
03:32 of venom injected by.
03:34 Oh, there we go.
03:35 He's just got me on the finger.
03:38 But since they're a rear fanged species of snake,
03:40 we'll check that out in a minute.
03:42 It'll probably start bleeding.
03:43 I don't think he would have injected any venom there.
03:47 I hope.
03:48 Pretty wild.
03:50 See what he's doing there?
03:51 So that's injecting venom there.
03:53 That's what these snakes need to do to their prey
03:55 in order to get that venom in.
03:57 These snakes live here out in these river systems.
03:59 And if you have a look at this, take a look at that.
04:02 Straight away right there.
04:06 Yes, got him.
04:09 And he got me as well.
04:10 Nice.
04:11 - Is it a bite do you think?
04:13 Or, well it is, isn't it?
04:15 - All right, let's keep going up the river.
04:17 So what type of frog is it?
04:21 - It's a false swim toad.
04:25 - False swim toad?
04:26 - Yeah.
04:27 - Yeah.
04:27 (speaking in foreign language)
04:28 (laughing)
04:29 - False swim toad.
04:30 - I'll say the first one.
04:31 So we've just spotted a false swim toad.
04:33 This is a really big animal sitting up
04:35 in this tree right here.
04:37 We're above crocodile water.
04:39 But I might climb up here and see if I can grab him.
04:42 I'll chuck the GoPro on.
04:43 Okay, I'm here.
04:47 - Oh, good boy.
04:50 - I prefer to jump.
04:52 - Okay.
04:55 - Correct, grab.
04:57 Because this type of frog is more lazy during the day.
05:00 - Got him.
05:02 (cheering)
05:04 Whoa.
05:04 He is massive.
05:08 (cheering)
05:10 There you go.
05:14 (laughing)
05:17 (cheering)
05:19 That is crazy.
05:23 That is such a cool looking animal.
05:25 - That's the one that my wife loves.
05:27 - Oh, really?
05:27 The false swim toad.
05:29 - Swamp.
05:30 S-S-W-A-M-P.
05:33 - Swamp.
05:34 - Oh, swamp.
05:35 Right, so it's actually called the false swamp toad.
05:39 I got the name wrong of it.
05:40 But that is a crazy looking animal right there.
05:43 Such a cool catch as well.
05:44 So you can see those webbed feet at the back there.
05:48 Used for swimming.
05:49 And these big toads are actually feeding on insects mostly.
05:53 But seeing as they get to this big size,
05:55 they can also feed on lizards
05:56 and other things like that as well.
05:58 That's such a crazy looking animal to find
06:00 out here on this little boat trip in Borneo.
06:02 - And all the animals come to the river.
06:04 - Not yet, mate.
06:07 We'll let you go soon.
06:09 I didn't even know that these guys existed,
06:10 let alone we're out here in the forest.
06:12 But yeah, they're kinda like the cane toads
06:14 back in Australia.
06:15 The same size but completely different appearance.
06:18 Let's keep going up the river and see what else we can find.
06:21 (boat engine roaring)
06:24 Ah.
06:31 Can I hold?
06:37 - Oh, yeah.
06:37 - So this is what the locals are catching around here
06:41 and cooking up.
06:42 These are called snakehead.
06:43 Got a whole bucket full of them.
06:44 They're gonna bring them back to the village
06:46 and cook them up later.
06:47 (boat engine roaring)
06:50 (speaking in foreign language)
07:05 So we're just cruising up the river.
07:10 This is a little sunbeam snake.
07:12 Beautiful little species of snake.
07:14 (bird chirping)
07:16 The locals here are very connected to this land
07:24 and they need to be in order to catch food
07:26 and live out here with these animals.
07:28 As we're cruising up the river.
07:30 (bird chirping)
07:32 He's doing these bird calls
07:42 and you can hear the birds answering him as well
07:44 as we're cruising up.
07:45 (bird chirping)
07:48 So cool.
07:55 All right, let's get this little guy back out there.
07:57 (boat engine roaring)
08:00 Do you have any stories about crocodiles?
08:09 (speaking in foreign language)
08:11 - So they say, yeah, there's lots of crocodile around here
08:15 but because we don't hurting them,
08:18 so they have no reason for hurting us too.
08:21 They believe it like that.
08:22 - You know how you were saying further out towards the sea,
08:25 many people killed by crocodiles?
08:27 - Yeah, on Samuda.
08:28 - Yeah.
08:29 - Samuda area.
08:30 - So they don't have the same relationship
08:32 because they hurt the crocodiles.
08:33 The difference between that people and these people,
08:36 they say the main reason is,
08:40 the reason why the crocodile attacking them.
08:43 Maybe they are doing some bad things on their habitat.
08:48 For example, using the poison to get more fish
08:51 or more shrimp, something like that.
08:54 And also they are hurting the crocodile too.
08:56 What people doing here, they don't do that.
09:00 So they just using a traditional way to catching a fish,
09:04 to respect all of the naturist.
09:07 And also they respect each other
09:08 between the crocodile and human in this area.
09:10 - How many attacks have there been?
09:12 (speaking in foreign language)
09:16 - Approximately 30.
09:17 - 30?
09:18 - 30 times, 30 case.
09:19 - That's pretty crazy.
09:20 In an area like this where people have that connection
09:24 with the land and with these crocodiles.
09:27 No one's been attacked and further up the river,
09:29 there's been 30 where they don't respect them.
09:32 What we're about to film right now
09:34 is something that you do have to be extremely careful of
09:37 out here in the jungles of Borneo.
09:39 So I'm just gonna crawl up to him at the moment.
09:41 So this right here is the saltwater crocodile.
09:45 The biggest crocodile in the world.
09:48 We do have them over in Australia,
09:50 but this one's just down in the jungle of Borneo right now.
09:53 Luckily enough for me, this is actually a captive animal.
09:56 We've brought him out here just to play with him for a bit
09:59 and show you these beautiful creatures,
10:01 educate you about them.
10:03 So I'm just gonna crawl next to him at the moment.
10:07 And if I just put my hand underneath him, I'll lift him up.
10:14 So this is the biggest species of crocodile in the world.
10:29 This is a very small one.
10:31 These crocodiles have the ability to grow up
10:33 over six meters long out in the wild.
10:37 And the villages around this area
10:38 have reported ones that big and even bigger.
10:41 But the interesting thing about this village
10:44 that we're staying at at the moment
10:46 is they've created kind of an agreement with the crocodiles.
10:49 There's never been any crocodile attacks in the area,
10:52 even though every day in the rivers,
10:54 they are swimming around.
10:55 Their agreement is,
10:56 still gotta be careful,
11:00 'cause they won't hurt any crocodiles
11:01 as long as the crocodiles don't hurt anyone.
11:04 Pretty beautiful agreement to have
11:07 with such magnificent animal.
11:10 (gentle music)
11:13 (water splashing)
11:16 (water splashing)
11:18 (water splashing)
11:21 (water splashing)
11:24 (water splashing)
11:27 (water splashing)
11:52 (water splashing)
11:55 So we gotta take him back for the moment.
11:59 So I've just decided to chuck him on my shoulder
12:01 because he actually went a fair way up the river.
12:04 And we'll walk the big fella back down.
12:05 Just another day in Borneo.
12:14 That's it, I'm lightening it up.
12:19 So obviously this isn't a fully wild croc.
12:22 You can build a relationship with these crocodiles.
12:25 It's a lot harder than any other species,
12:27 but as you can see right here, I've got one on my shoulder.
12:30 Wouldn't be trying this out in the wild.
12:32 Whatever you do, do not try to pick up a wild crocodile
12:35 because you will get bitten.
12:36 Pretty cool experience though.
12:38 I think we might've got that.
12:39 - Yeah, we got that.
12:40 - Yeah.
12:41 - I think.
12:42 - I'll look one more.
12:44 - One more.
12:45 - One more please.
12:47 (water splashing)
12:49 - Oh.
12:50 - Should we wash out first or okay?
13:05 - Later.
13:06 - Later.
13:07 - I think it's okay.
13:08 - Later.
13:08 - Do you think when you wrapped the first part,
13:19 did you clamp it together, close it?
13:21 - Yeah, Harry do this.
13:24 - Ah yeah.
13:25 - And then you wrap.
13:26 - Yeah, you feel good it's closed.
13:27 - Yes.
13:31 (speaking in foreign language)
13:34 - It's a bit.
13:35 - It's a bit dizzy?
13:36 - Dizzy.
13:37 - Yeah.
13:37 - Because the blood.
13:38 - Of course, yeah.
13:39 Okay Harry.
13:43 Okay, let's get back.
13:45 (motor running)
13:48 (speaking in foreign language)
13:58 - Keep going.
14:05 (speaking in foreign language)
14:09 (motor running)
14:12 - Just made it back right now.
14:22 We're gonna get Harry's hand checked out.
14:24 Yeah, it's been a pretty crazy day.
14:27 You all good Harry?
14:28 - I'm good.
14:29 - Woo.
14:36 (cheering)
14:40 (cheering)
15:07 - Tonight we continue.
15:09 - No, no, no.
15:11 Tonight, yeah.
15:12 Okay.
15:16 - Okay.
15:16 - Hello.
15:24 (speaking in foreign language)
15:33 - Hello.
15:34 - Hello.
15:34 (speaking in foreign language)
15:38 - It's all right.
15:46 (speaking in foreign language)
15:52 So this is called a blood python.
16:03 We just rescued him from this little village right here.
16:05 For their size, about just a meter long,
16:07 they're a very fat snake.
16:09 So these pythons actually live down holes
16:12 and they're coming out at night.
16:13 What this guy'd be doing is he's hunting,
16:15 coming out here, trying to feed on rats.
16:17 But how the villagers actually hunt them
16:19 is they'll find these holes,
16:20 have to dig these snakes out of it,
16:22 and then they'll cook them up.
16:23 And as you can see, what's in my hand right now,
16:26 there's a lot of meat on it.
16:28 What do they taste like?
16:29 - They taste like chicken.
16:31 - Everything tastes like chicken.
16:32 So we're actually gonna move this snake
16:34 out of this area of the village
16:35 because if the villagers do end up finding it here,
16:38 they're gonna cook it up.
16:39 - A good start because there is a hole inside.
16:41 (laughing)
16:42 Yeah, it's a hole inside the bag.
16:45 (imitating a snake)
16:48 - Look, crocodile.
16:52 (clapping)
16:55 Okay, come on.
16:59 - Crocodile.
17:00 (laughing)
17:01 - Crocodile.
17:02 Oh, crocodile down there as well.
17:05 The big crocodile in this pool,
17:07 they say it's about five meters long
17:09 and it's actually a rescued crocodile.
17:12 It ate someone.
17:13 Up.
17:16 Oh.
17:20 You, go, go, go, go.
17:23 Go, go.
17:31 That one's so angry.
17:32 - Go, go, go.
17:33 (grunting)
17:35 (clapping)
17:46 - One, two, three.
17:55 Oh.
18:01 Take a look at that.
18:03 This is actually crazy.
18:19 What an awesome animal.
18:21 - Bye.
18:29 (laughing)
18:30 - There we go.
18:30 This crocodile right here, his name is Sandpit
18:33 and it's because he was relocated from this river.
18:36 - Whoa.
18:38 - Thank you.
18:40 - Thank you.
18:41 (speaking in foreign language)
18:43 - Thank you.
18:44 - Thank you.
18:45 - He says thank you.
18:46 - We were there earlier on in this week
18:48 and we saw multiple people swimming in the river,
18:50 children bathing there,
18:52 and this crocodile right here has eaten multiple people
18:55 throughout its lifetime,
18:56 which is why they had to relocate it
18:58 and bring it to this park
18:59 because it was a problem animal
19:00 and the villagers were gonna kill it
19:02 if they didn't bring it here.
19:03 But yeah, don't go swimming in the water
19:05 when there's big crocodiles like this
19:07 because that is not a death that you wanna experience
19:09 as he's going back into the water right there.
19:12 Take a look at that.
19:16 Big crocodile.
19:19 (speaking in foreign language)
19:24 (speaking in foreign language)
19:28 (speaking in foreign language)
19:32 (speaking in foreign language)
19:36 (speaking in foreign language)
19:40 (speaking in foreign language)
20:08 So this right here is a massive king cobra.
20:11 Over here, there's no antivenom for the king cobras.
20:14 So if you get bitten,
20:15 there's a very low chance that you're gonna survive.
20:18 So this right here is a baby king cobra.
20:21 That's gonna be great, Joe.
20:24 See, this guy's about to strike.
20:25 He's loading up at the moment.
20:27 Obviously, we know that the animals that we're dealing with
20:29 are highly venomous animals.
20:31 This one right here is the deadliest,
20:33 not a snake that you wanna get bitten by by any means.
