"Curse of Demon Mountain" is a 1977 Western adventure film directed by Earl E. Smith. The movie is also known as "The Shadow of Chikara." It stars the legendary actor and musician Joe Don Baker, as well as Sondra Locke and Joy N. Houck Jr.

Plot:
The film is set in the American Old West and follows the story of the mountain man known as Chikara (played by Joe Don Baker). Chikara is notorious in the region as a tough and solitary figure who lives in the wilderness. When a group of settlers arrives in his territory, they clash with him due to their attempts to lay claim to the land.

As the conflict escalates, the settlers, along with their leader Matthew (Joy N. Houck Jr.), hire a skilled tracker and former lawman named Gurney (Sondra Locke) to hunt down Chikara. What they don't realize is that Chikara is not an ordinary man but a legendary figure, and they might be dealing with a supernatural force or curse associated with the mountain itself.

"Curse of Demon Mountain" blends elements of Western, adventure, and folklore, with Chikara's character taking on mythical dimensions. The film explores themes of wilderness survival, conflict over land and resources, and the clash between traditional ways of life and the encroachment of settlers in the American frontier.

While the movie is not as widely known as some other Westerns from the era, it offers a unique and somewhat eerie take on the Western genre, mixing folklore and legend into the narrative. Joe Don Baker's portrayal of Chikara adds a memorable and enigmatic dimension to the film.
