Lullaby of Broadway - I concentrate on you - This can't be love - Lover 2023-10-22

Piano solo - personal rendition - of four "old favorites", on this beautiful autumn Sunday afternoon. Harry Warren's 'Lullaby of Broadway' (having some earlier arrangements in mind), Cole Porter's 'I concentrate on you', and Richard Rodgers's 'This can't be love' (two songs also inspired by singer Dinah Washington's interpretation). Finally (again by Richard Rodgers) the song 'Lover', first heard live some 42 years ago, performed by the Haakon Nicasie Big Band at Hotel Torarica, Suriname. During that same evening, singer Mireille Stolz gave a beautiful French interpretation of 'Les feuilles mortes', accompanied by the Band. Only recently, Johnny Guarnieri's virtuoso piano version of 'Lover' inspired us to rehearse and try to perform this song once more.
