00:00 Here are 5 keys to the game for the 49ers when they take on the Vikings on Monday night.
00:05 1.
00:06 Take the Vikings seriously.
00:09 This is something the Niners didn't do last week against the Browns who frankly are better
00:13 than the Vikings.
00:14 The Niners sort of just waltzed into Cleveland, started a fight before the game, committed
00:19 a bunch of penalties and lost to PJ Walker because they couldn't make field goals.
00:22 I mean they really, really were sloppy and beat themselves.
00:25 They did not take that game seriously and they got what they deserved.
00:28 Now they need a wake up call and their personality is to just not take the Vikings seriously.
00:36 2-4 team, Kirk Cousins, they've beaten them so many times.
00:40 This is a game the Niners could lose just by not taking it seriously.
00:44 But without Trent Williams, without Deebo Samuel, they're going to have to, I mean they
00:48 can't just wake up and beat anyone.
00:51 They have to give their best effort and I think given the fact that they just beat themselves
00:56 in Cleveland and they won't have two of their best players on offense, I expect the Niners
00:59 will give their best effort and take the Vikings seriously.
01:03 2.
01:05 Get the ball to Jordan Mason.
01:07 Hand off to Mason.
01:08 The Vikings aren't great but they have a very good run defense, giving up 3.7 yards per
01:12 carry this season.
01:13 Christian McCaffrey probably will play, he's questionable, but he's hurt.
01:17 Oblique strain.
01:18 In the last two games they've given him 30 carries, he has 94 rushing yards, that's 3.1
01:23 yards per carry.
01:25 He's overused, he's hurt, he needs a breather.
01:28 Jordan Mason in the last two games has averaging 6.4 yards per carry.
01:35 Niners going to have to run the ball effectively against the Vikings to win this game, not
01:38 easy to do.
01:39 Give the ball to Jordan Mason.
01:41 3.
01:42 On offense, throw the ball to George Kittle.
01:46 No Deebo Samuel, they need Kittle to step up.
01:49 Last game he had one, two targets, one catch, one yard.
01:52 Two games before that he had one catch for about 9 yards against the Cardinals.
01:57 In between he had three touchdowns on three targets against the Cowboys.
02:00 They need a game like that.
02:02 This is national television.
02:03 George Kittle likes to show out on national television.
02:06 This is not the game to keep him in the block.
02:09 He needs to produce as a receiver.
02:13 Give him five targets at least.
02:15 That's on Kyle Shanahan and Brock Purdy.
02:17 Get the ball to George Kittle.
02:20 4.
02:21 Pick up the blitz.
02:24 Vikings blitz more than any team in the league.
02:25 You saw what the Giants tried to do to the 49ers.
02:29 Week 3, they blitzed them into oblivion.
02:31 The Niners, it was a close game.
02:33 They had 17 points late and then they finally pulled away.
02:36 The Vikings have more talent on their defense.
02:38 They have Daniel Hunter who has 8 sacks through 6 games.
02:41 The Niners have no Trent Williams most likely.
02:43 He's doubtful.
02:44 They got to get the ball out quick.
02:45 They have to communicate really well on the offensive line.
02:48 Jalen Moore, Aaron Banks picking up blitzes, working together.
02:53 Let's see the communication.
02:54 Let's see what a full game of Jalen Moore looks like at left tackle.
02:57 Really the ball should come out quick but the communication on the offensive line will
03:01 be key.
03:02 And then finally 5.
03:04 Pressuring Kirk Cousins.
03:08 This is a one-dimensional team, the Vikings.
03:10 They run the ball.
03:11 They run the ball less than any team in the league.
03:13 32nd and 10th out of 32 teams.
03:14 They throw.
03:15 They throw and they don't have Justin Jefferson, the best wide receiver in the league.
03:18 So they're going to drop back a million times.
03:20 Kirk Cousins is going to give you two pick opportunities.
03:22 He's going to probably fumble.
03:25 He makes a lot of nice throws and he goes through his reads and stuff but he's a disaster
03:29 waiting to happen, especially under pressure.
03:32 Vikings have two really good offensive tackles and Christian Derrisson, Brian O'Neill, Nick
03:35 Bosa and Randy Greger will have their hands full but this is going to be a big game for
03:39 Eric Armstead and Javon Hargrave and Javon Kinlaw.
03:43 Pressure up the middle is going to ruin Kirk Cousins and if they can pressure him in his
03:47 face the Niners ought to win.
