A Stoke-on-Trent tiler who treated himself to a pool table after winning £2.4 million on the National Lottery is now set for his “proudest moment” as he prepares to represent England at the European Pool Championships in Malta. Neil Jones, 59, had just £13 in his pocket when he and his partner Julie Kirkham won the life-changing cash just before Christmas 2010.SOURCE: PA

00:00 Yeah, we used to call in the local bargain booth, get a few cans or whatever, or a bit
00:21 of provisions and that.
00:22 And then this particular time we said, "Can I have a three pound lucky dip?"
00:28 And as I said that, I said, "No, leave it."
00:32 And I walked around the shop and I said, "No, I'll tell you what, I'll have it.
00:35 See me coming in again tomorrow."
00:36 So that hesitation, that's how mad it was.
00:42 So that's how it happened.
00:45 Obviously if I had won the lottery, I wouldn't be able to do that.
00:52 I wouldn't have a table.
00:54 So I think it goes hand in hand.
00:57 So with that said, grateful to what we've won.
01:02 I'm the most grateful man on the planet.
01:04 But there's gone thousands and thousands of hours in practice to get where we are now.
01:11 My chest will be out.
01:12 I'll be proud as punch and I'll be, "Right now, boys, come on.
01:16 Come on.
01:17 Let's do this for everybody at home.
01:20 Bring it home.
01:21 Just do your best."
