00:00 While the barangay and the capitol are getting closer to elections, the number of incidents of violence is increasing.
00:05 We will now hear the spokesperson of the PNP, Police Colonel Jean Pajardo.
00:11 Colonel Pajardo, good morning.
00:13 Good morning sir Egan.
00:15 In the latest PNP report, how many cases of election-related violence have been reported?
00:21 As of yesterday sir Egan, we have reported 121 incidents since the election period started.
00:30 But 22 out of 121 are validated as election-related incidents.
00:37 Are they all dead?
00:39 No sir Egan. Most of them are...
00:45 Hello, hello.
00:47 Hello.
00:48 Hello Colonel.
00:50 Yes sir. Hello, hello.
00:52 Yes.
00:53 Sir out of the 22 incidents of validated series, 8 died, 7 were wounded and 11 were unharmed.
01:05 In those places where it happened, the tension is high among the candidates.
01:10 What is the plan of the PNP?
01:12 We are adding our security deployment in those places where there are high number of validated election-related incidents.
01:22 Our augmentation team, which is around 800, we have deployed in those areas that are in the red category and those areas that have validated series.
01:36 Is the PNP's situation under control or will there be more deaths or wounds as the election is approaching?
01:43 Well, our answer is that we hope that the number of election-related incidents will not increase.
01:50 That's why we are adding more people in those areas where we have security concerns,
01:56 aside from the committed personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and Philippine Coast Guard.
02:01 We are also increasing our border control and conduct of checkpoint operations.
02:07 Yes. There are teachers in Cotabato who backed out from election duty because they are afraid, especially those who are about to lose.
02:15 Is there a similar situation in other places, Colonel?
02:19 Aside from the places you're talking about, there are also reports in the province of Abra that there are teachers who are apprehensive,
02:28 who serve as EDIS. That's why the PNP anticipated this early.
02:34 That's why we have a standby 5,588 trained PNP that can serve as special board of electoral inspector.
02:44 So the police will conduct elections in those places?
02:48 We will wait for the abdication of EDIS teachers. We have trained PNP personnel to assume duty.
03:02 Okay. Following the election, how is the preparation of PNP in cemeteries, terminals, and provinces, Colonel?
03:12 Starting today, sir Egan, we will increase the alert level. That will continue until Ondas after Ondas.
03:23 We will deploy more than 27,000 for Ondas, although most of us are concentrated on our election.
03:33 After the election on October 30, we will monitor the numbers and of course, the conducting until the election process is over.
03:43 Thank you very much. Good luck PNP spokesperson Colonel Jean Pajardo. Be careful.
03:47 Thank you sir.
