00:50 Don't forget that.
00:51 Boom, our friends in Lincoln as well.
00:53 Adam, listen, there's a lot to get to today.
00:56 We're going to get to a quick take on Harbaugh, Michigan.
01:00 We're going to talk about all the games
01:03 coming up this weekend.
01:04 But I got to start with what happens in your bed.
01:08 Okay?
01:09 And my-
01:10 - Wow, this could take a while or just two minutes.
01:13 (laughing)
01:15 - My question is this.
01:17 Has there ever been a moment where you wanted to take
01:19 Paul Bunyan's ax and bring it to bed
01:21 with you and your lovely wife?
01:23 (laughing)
01:25 - No.
01:26 - Well, a couple of things real quick.
01:28 - Wait a second.
01:29 - Go ahead.
01:30 - Minnesota wins the game.
01:31 They get the Paul Bunyan ax.
01:32 They got the, that's against Wisconsin.
01:35 They get the pig against Iowa.
01:39 I think it's a little awkward to bring the pig to bed.
01:41 I think it's a little awkward to maybe bring the ax to bed.
01:44 But on K-Fan this week in Minneapolis,
01:47 PJ Fleck said that the Floyd of Rosedale pigs
01:50 spent his night back in Minnesota at the Fleck home.
01:53 He went on to say that when the University of Minnesota
01:56 won Paul Bunyan's ax against Wisconsin,
01:59 it ended up in bed with him and his wife, Heather.
02:02 Your reaction is what?
02:03 - So a couple of things.
02:07 All right.
02:08 Number one, PJ Fleck's a little odd.
02:11 It's part of what I love about him.
02:13 He's made that Minnesota football program
02:15 as good as they've been for decades.
02:17 So give him credit there.
02:19 He's a little odd.
02:20 He's a little unusual,
02:21 which is why I know Nebraska fans can't stand him.
02:24 And then I point out, well,
02:26 every year he beats us with less talent.
02:27 So that sucks.
02:30 He's just an unusual individual.
02:31 What it shows me is that his wife and him
02:34 apparently like to do crazy things.
02:37 Okay.
02:38 Number two, it tells me that PJ Fleck
02:40 is indeed a little odd.
02:41 It also shows me how important these games are to him.
02:44 Actually, if I'm a Minnesota fan,
02:45 I actually, everyone else is going to find it weird.
02:48 Okay.
02:49 But if I'm a Minnesota fan, I'm like, dude,
02:50 our coach is a little off the wall,
02:52 but he is passionate about these games.
02:55 Couple other random sidebars.
02:57 Did you know that the average sexual encounter
02:59 between a man and a woman lasts about seven minutes?
03:02 - I don't know.
03:03 That's what I would have guessed.
03:04 - Is that a little long for you?
03:05 It seemed like you were like, man, that seems long for me.
03:08 So true story.
03:10 - What is the URL on the end of it, baby?
03:12 - Hey, my wife doesn't watch this show,
03:13 so she'll never know I said this.
03:15 Every once in a while I go, hey, Ang, you got seven minutes?
03:17 And she just starts laughing
03:18 and she knows exactly what I mean.
03:20 - That's right.
03:21 Well, I would have guessed over five, under 10.
03:23 So yeah, man, that's about right, man.
03:24 That's about right.
03:25 That's about right.
03:26 I mean, dude, like let's be real.
03:28 Listen, we aren't trying to end up on days of our lives
03:31 in some scene there, man.
03:32 So we're good, right?
03:33 Not a big deal.
03:34 - All night long is such a full of crap saying,
03:36 like who has ever done that?
03:37 Who has the cardiovascular endurance,
03:42 let alone the other kind of endurance?
03:44 - I do have a question though.
03:45 I do got a question though.
03:47 It seems a little dangerous
03:49 to have to spoon the ax though, man.
03:50 Like that thing seems, yeah.
03:53 - Maybe he doesn't want any more kids
03:54 and he doesn't care.
03:55 I don't know.
03:56 I can't defend.
03:57 It's gotta be the cover.
03:58 If you ain't got the cover, I can't defend you, man.
04:00 - All right.
04:01 So next let's get to that game a little bit more, okay?
04:03 Because Minnesota beats Iowa
04:05 and still reaction days later.
04:07 I mean, I have seen so many cut-up videos
04:09 of all the refs missed all these failed
04:12 fair catch attempts earlier in the game.
04:14 Why did they call it that?
04:15 First of all, Cooper Dejean, you are a stud.
04:17 Okay.
04:18 You should be playing quarterback,
04:19 wide receiver, running back, center,
04:22 all at the same time.
04:23 Hike it to yourself, throw it to yourself,
04:25 run into the end zone.
04:26 Okay.
04:27 Like that's what you should do.
04:28 Do the spectacular.
04:30 I don't care what the rules say.
04:31 That should have been a touchdown, man.
04:32 Like I don't care what the rules say.
04:34 That should have been a touchdown.
04:36 That was awesome.
04:37 Now, what did you make of all of that
04:39 and how it went down?
04:40 And at that point in the game?
04:42 - So before we go too much further
04:44 and I forget to mention this
04:45 for the folks who follow us on a continual basis,
04:48 easy for me to say,
04:51 every week going forward starting next week,
04:52 it's Monday and Wednesday.
04:54 We will be recording Mondays and Wednesdays.
04:56 All right.
04:56 Jeff, you know, he just went AWOL every Sunday.
04:58 No excuse, no reason.
04:59 Just did, you know, ghosted me.
05:01 No, I'm just kidding.
05:01 - It was church.
05:02 I was going to church.
05:03 - Oh, now you are full of crap, Mr. Miami.
05:06 All right.
05:07 Anyways, I'm going to boo college kids.
05:08 Anyways, I digress.
05:09 So Mondays and Wednesdays.
05:11 My take on that was
05:12 if you do that hand motion with one of your arms.
05:15 Now he wasn't calling fair catch.
05:17 He was telling his teammates to get away.
05:20 But that doesn't matter.
05:21 All that matters is you did the hand motion.
05:23 That's a fair catch signal.
05:24 It's that simple.
05:25 The fact that they missed them earlier on,
05:27 I don't know.
05:28 We can go through every call if you'd like.
05:29 The fact is on that call.
05:31 Now here's what, there's two reasons
05:34 because this happens all the time.
05:35 I see it all the time where a guy will be like,
05:38 ah, nope, nevermind.
05:39 I'm going to catch it.
05:40 But the ref blows it dead and everyone goes.
05:42 Offense comes out, defense comes out.
05:43 Nobody bats an eye.
05:44 This one is different because it literally
05:46 was the difference in the ball game.
05:47 'Cause of course Iowa's offense isn't going to score
05:49 even though they're at midfield.
05:51 So this was the difference in the ball game.
05:53 The other thing is the refs
05:54 didn't blow it dead immediately.
05:55 They let it play out.
05:57 Had they blowed it dead immediately,
05:58 it wouldn't have been a big deal.
05:59 The game wasn't on the line,
06:00 it wouldn't have been a big deal.
06:01 The fact is this happens all the time.
06:02 Nobody thinks twice, but they didn't blow it dead.
06:05 It was the deciding factor in the game.
06:07 Ergo, it's a big deal and it should be.
06:09 The refs got the call right, but they handled it wrongly.
06:12 - I agree with you.
06:13 All of that makes sense to me.
06:14 I was a little disappointed that it didn't count
06:16 because it was a sick play.
06:17 It would have kept my hope so alive
06:19 for Iowa to win the Big 10.
06:21 Those are squad douched at this point.
06:23 - It's not over yet.
06:24 It's not over yet.
06:26 - Dude, I mean, they can't even get the ball
06:29 in the other team's territory and run positive plays.
06:33 Like it's just...
06:35 - They had two positive yards in the second half.
06:37 Two whole yards of offense.
06:39 - And I've sat here and I've defended that nonsense.
06:42 So that's my fault.
06:43 All right.
06:43 - I don't know, man.
06:44 - Thank God for Iowa.
06:45 They can have a bye week and just try to chill from that.
06:49 So not the end of the world.
06:50 - Their offensive stats will probably go up
06:52 in the national rankings while they sit at home
06:54 'cause they can't do any worse.
06:55 - Can't do any worse, man.
06:56 Can't do any worse.
06:57 All right.
06:58 He's Adam Carriker, former NFL tight end,
07:00 former NFL defense event.
07:01 I would have loved to see you play tight.
07:02 - Should have been a tight end.
07:03 - Should have been a tight end.
07:03 He should have been a tight end.
07:06 Oh my God.
07:07 - Why is that so funny?
07:08 Should I be offended if you're laughter?
07:10 What's going on?
07:11 (laughing)
07:12 - What's your run of 40 at, by the way?
07:15 - My senior day at Nebraska, I was 291.
07:18 I ran a 4.72.
07:19 - Dude, I ran a 4.45.
07:21 - No, you did not.
07:22 - Yeah, I did.
07:23 And then I ran four more seconds to complete the 40.
07:24 - You're also 98 pounds.
07:25 You're also 98 pounds.
07:26 - I ran a 4.45 and then I ran four more seconds
07:29 and completed the 40.
07:30 All right, that's how hard I try here.
07:31 - Was your son doing the clock?
07:33 Like handheld?
07:34 What was the deal here?
07:35 - You're not listening.
07:36 I ran a 4.4.
07:38 What was that?
07:39 (laughing)
07:40 - I don't know what we're doing.
07:41 - You got a thumbs up.
07:42 You're like, yeah, dude, he ran a 4.45.
07:44 - Dude, that was so weird.
07:45 I think it was my mouse.
07:46 That's crazy.
07:47 All right.
07:48 My favorite part of the intro is that I'm almost famous,
07:52 but you're even less famous than almost famous.
07:54 I love that every time I pop for it.
07:56 - All right, man, I want to move on.
07:57 I want to move on.
07:58 Harbaugh and the side stealing stuff, okay?
08:01 So first of all, those that have been hiding under a rock,
08:05 what's happened is there was a Michigan staffer
08:08 that is accused of traveling to games
08:10 and looking at the signs of the other teams,
08:13 bringing back that information and utilizing it
08:15 for Michigan during their game planning
08:18 and during the game.
08:18 Now, in the NFL, there would be no problem with this, right?
08:22 Like you can advance scout.
08:23 If you're sitting there, you're looking like,
08:25 as long as you are not recording practices
08:29 and doing those sorts of things, anything nefarious,
08:32 you can go scout the team, figure out stuff.
08:34 Oh, I see this or that, write it down.
08:36 There's no advanced scouting in college football.
08:37 That's number one.
08:38 Number two, he's recording these things, bringing it back.
08:42 So there's a little bit of gray area there.
08:44 I have not heard anyone that has reacted to this say,
08:49 oh my gosh, Michigan was stealing signs.
08:53 It's the first time I've ever heard of that
08:54 in college football.
08:55 Mark Sanchez, I heard yesterday on Fox, everybody does it.
08:58 Brock Heward, who played both college and NFL football,
09:01 said everybody does it in college football.
09:03 - Mark Sanchez played in the NFL too.
09:06 - I understand, I'm just naming off these guys.
09:08 - Go ahead.
09:09 - Mark Sanchez is a little bit more recognizable
09:11 than my main man Brock Heward, all right?
09:12 Just making a point.
09:13 - They do AFC championship games.
09:14 Put some respect on Mark Sanchez's name, my friend.
09:16 - Okay, sorry, I think everybody understood.
09:18 So I just wonder to you, first of all, I wasn't shocked.
09:23 Secondly, I don't think that this is going to end up
09:28 being like the nail in the coffin for Harbaugh,
09:31 but I did find it interesting that he said publicly
09:33 and on the record, he has no idea what's going on,
09:36 which, I don't know, that to me is sort of where I'm like,
09:41 really, I don't think the book should be thrown at him
09:44 for this, I think a fine and a slap on the wrist,
09:48 but there's the stuff that happened earlier this year
09:51 with the cheeseburger and Harbaugh missing games
09:53 that may compound the conversation, where are we at?
09:56 - That's exactly my point.
09:58 So a couple of things real quick
09:59 before I get to the accumulation of things,
10:01 which was your point, and to me, that's more of the concern.
10:04 First of all, everybody tries to steal signs,
10:06 but here's the difference.
10:08 By the way, not filming of practices
10:10 of your future opponents, that's news to Bill Belichick.
10:13 All right, I digress, I apologize for that.
10:14 I really don't, but I had to point that out.
10:16 All right, so here's the deal.
10:17 By the way, no Tom Brady, no Spygate.
10:19 How you doing, Bill?
10:20 He's got way more Super Bowl rings than I do.
10:21 I'll sit here and shut up while I talk.
10:23 All right, here we go.
10:24 - You're just beating the Bills, man.
10:24 What you talking about?
10:25 - Dude, the Bills are so up and down.
10:27 They're like one of the best and worst teams all at once.
10:29 All right, we'll stick to Big Ten football.
10:31 My apologies.
10:31 Here's the deal.
10:32 Everybody tries to steal signs on game day.
10:35 It is, that's why you have multiple signs
10:37 with Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck
10:39 and all this crap that are held,
10:40 that some teams still do.
10:42 And then you've got the 14 quarterbacks
10:44 on the sidelines all giving the signs
10:46 because there's only one guy whose actual signs matter,
10:48 but everybody knows they're trying to steal your signs.
10:50 Here's the difference.
10:52 That's day of the game, and that's legal,
10:54 and that's understood.
10:55 - Correct.
10:56 - I've said before on this show,
10:57 I don't care if you like a rule or not, okay?
11:00 If the rule is in place,
11:02 you got to follow it or get the rule changed.
11:03 It says you cannot advance scout.
11:05 In other words, you can't send somebody
11:07 to a future opponent and try to scout them live.
11:10 Now, does everybody try to steal signs
11:12 on the day of the game?
11:13 - Yes. - You?
11:14 Yes.
11:14 That is not a surprise,
11:16 but there's a rule against what Michigan did.
11:19 Michigan appears to have done it.
11:20 Seems sure likely they broke the rule.
11:23 Now that rule in of itself,
11:24 I think what Harbaugh already had this year,
11:27 three, four game suspension by itself,
11:29 whatever the case may be,
11:30 is appropriate to your point.
11:32 The accumulation of things
11:34 is where he might get in a little bit more trouble.
11:36 Now, I'll be honest with you.
11:37 The NCAA won't get to this for about 84 years.
11:40 So if I'm Jim Harbaugh,
11:41 I'm more concerned about what the Big 10 does
11:44 'cause they'll react quicker.
11:45 Also, college football playoff rankings come out next week.
11:49 It's kind of like, what was it?
11:50 Nancy Kerrigan and Tanya Harding, okay?
11:53 Not like having somebody jacked up in the locker room,
11:57 but when Tanya went to the Olympics,
11:58 there was no chance she was getting gold.
12:00 She also wasn't that good.
12:02 Way better at me than ice skating.
12:03 I'll break my face.
12:04 But my point is,
12:06 the judges had that in the back of their mind.
12:07 Do you think the college football playoff committee,
12:09 the Big 10 might give them sanctions quicker
12:12 than the NCAA by far,
12:13 but will this affect Michigan and the CFP rankings?
12:16 - I don't think at all, man.
12:17 I think if they had one loss
12:19 and they were sort of comparing them to others
12:20 at this point, I think maybe,
12:21 but at this point, no, man,
12:23 I don't think it's gonna affect them at all.
12:24 I think that the college football playoff committee
12:26 has a lot of time until the end
12:27 where they can make these decisions
12:29 based on sort of what happens with this situation.
12:32 But no, I don't think it affects it at all.
12:34 - So the first rankings come out next Tuesday.
12:36 You don't think, let's say Georgia's won.
12:39 Let's say they're debating
12:41 between some of these undefeated teams,
12:43 whether it's Washington, Oklahoma, Michigan,
12:46 who else is up there, Ohio State.
12:48 You don't think maybe the committee
12:49 might bump Michigan down to third or fourth
12:52 rather than first or second because of,
12:55 hey, you might not have won this game in the past.
12:57 - Oh, no, I mean, my favorite comment from all this
13:02 was from Kirby Smart, who said,
13:04 relating back to when they mollywopped Michigan.
13:09 No, I don't think that was a part of the equation.
13:12 (laughing)
13:13 It's along those lines, like,
13:15 no, if they did, it really wasn't working, man,
13:18 because you saw what happened when we took on Michigan
13:21 during that game.
13:22 - That's a great line.
13:23 Yeah, I love that. - Anyways,
13:25 I think at this point, no, it's not gonna be,
13:27 it's not gonna be something,
13:28 and again, they have a bye week this week,
13:30 so plenty of time to get their lawyers involved
13:32 and have this go away.
13:33 He's Adam Kierkegaard, I'm Jeff Turner,
13:34 and this is the Big Ten Show.
13:36 Can we move on to Michigan State?
13:39 - Yes, sir. - Do it, okay.
13:41 A lot of stuff coming out about Michigan State
13:43 and Mel Tucker, and I'm gonna leave that
13:45 for everybody to read, the actual reporters
13:47 and not gasbaggers like us reacting to that specific story.
13:51 But let's talk about the opening,
13:53 because you've had Nick Saban be the head coach there,
13:57 Mike D'Antonio, who was really, really good there,
14:02 Mel Tucker comes in year one, bam, man, look what we did.
14:05 We started off great,
14:07 and then everything eroded on and off the field.
14:10 Urban Meyer's name comes up for all these sorts of things.
14:13 Is there a short list, though,
14:14 'cause Urban's not gonna take the job,
14:15 he says he's not gonna coach college football again.
14:18 Is there a short list for you of a couple of names
14:21 that you think might be a fit at Michigan State?
14:24 I mean, off the top for me, I think Pat Narduzzi at Pitt,
14:28 and I think PJ Fleck, if they wanna throw the bag at him
14:31 to get him out of Minnesota, and then Mike Elko at Duke.
14:35 Those are my three that I have on my short list.
14:38 - So first of all, the happiest school in America
14:40 right now is Colorado, because Mel Tucker
14:42 is no longer there, and they got Deion Sanders.
14:45 They are the happiest school in America.
14:47 - Forward-thinking there, yeah, right.
14:49 - Oh, man, so my next thought was to look at this job
14:52 by its, like, in of itself.
14:54 How appealing is this job?
14:56 Okay, first, I don't trust anything Urban Meyer says.
14:58 - You've been to East Lansing?
15:01 - I've never been.
15:02 I'm just putting myself in the shoes of a prospective coach.
15:06 I'm the little brother to Michigan.
15:08 Ohio State, we're gonna have to play every year,
15:10 even when they get rid of divisions.
15:11 You're gonna play Ohio State way more often than not.
15:13 You're gonna play Michigan every year.
15:15 Penn State way more often than not,
15:17 and you're gonna have to recruit against these teams.
15:20 Like, they're not gonna get,
15:22 even if Urban said he would take the job,
15:24 you're not gonna get an Urban Meyer, probably not, okay?
15:26 And I know for a fact Urban Meyer met
15:28 with Trev Alberts last year,
15:30 and if you remember that day,
15:32 'cause it was the Nebraska game,
15:33 I forget who they were playing, I think Oklahoma,
15:35 Urban Meyer was giddy on the set,
15:37 and even stupidly predicted Nebraska to beat Oklahoma.
15:40 Then it was like 4,000 to nothing at halftime Sooners.
15:43 But I got--
15:44 - He thought he was getting the bag, didn't he?
15:46 He thought he was getting the bag.
15:47 - I think had Nebraska offered, he would have taken it.
15:49 So my point is I don't trust anything Urban Meyer says.
15:51 Great coach, not gonna trust his word,
15:54 'cause I think if he gets a great opportunity
15:55 or a good one, he'll take it.
15:56 I digress.
15:58 If I'm a top coach, I'm not excited about Michigan State.
16:02 Now, that doesn't mean you can't get a good coach.
16:04 I go to a couple of guys.
16:05 I think you brought up a couple of really good names, okay?
16:09 The Duquette coach, what's his name again?
16:10 Remind me. - Mike Elko.
16:11 - Okay, Narduzia Pitt, I think is a good option.
16:14 Okay, I do think Mark Stoops, PJ Fleck,
16:17 Urban Meyer would be all great options.
16:19 Stoops ain't leaving Kentucky to go to Michigan State.
16:22 I don't think Fleck leaves Minnesota
16:24 to go to Michigan State.
16:25 I think that's a lateral move, okay?
16:27 Urban Meyer, I don't think he's taking Michigan State,
16:30 but he might take a job a step above it.
16:32 Now, the two names that stood out to me
16:34 above the ones that you mentioned,
16:35 'cause those were good options, okay?
16:38 Lance Leipold and Jake Deckard of Washington State
16:41 and Lance at Kansas.
16:43 And here's why they stick out to me.
16:44 They're completely opposite.
16:46 Okay, Jake is 40 years old, Lance is 59.
16:48 So if I'm Michigan State, am I looking to get a young guy
16:51 who can build us for the longterm,
16:52 but there's a little more riskiness
16:54 in how effective he might actually be?
16:57 Then I'm going with Jake.
16:58 If I want a guy who's gonna build us,
16:59 but may not be here for past five years,
17:01 but a little bit more of a guarantee,
17:03 I'm going with Lance Leipold.
17:04 You look at Lance, 59 years old.
17:06 Okay, probably a solid five-year plan.
17:08 I don't know about beyond that.
17:10 Wisconsin Whitewater, he was there for eight years.
17:12 109 wins, six losses,
17:16 six Division III National Championships,
17:18 and they had a runner-up year as well.
17:21 Then he went to Buffalo, who was the worst team in the MAC.
17:24 His first three years were a little rough.
17:25 Last three, okay, they were 24 and 10
17:28 and 17 and four in the MAC.
17:30 Okay, he left them one of the best programs in the conference
17:32 now they're one of the worst again since he's been gone.
17:35 Goes to Kansas, and Kansas was the worst
17:37 power five job in America.
17:38 We ain't talking basketball, we're talking football.
17:40 Okay, five and O start to last year,
17:42 then they're starting quarterback goes down.
17:44 Then they were ranked for the first time since 2009.
17:47 They still made a bowl game for the first time since 2008.
17:51 All right, now you look at Jake.
17:52 All right, WSU has coach, head coach.
17:54 There's not as much to know about him.
17:56 He's only been a head coach for a short term.
17:58 He's only 40 years old.
17:59 I've been to Pullman.
18:00 I took a recruiting visit there.
18:01 I grew up two hours from there in Tri-City, Washington.
18:04 No, it's not.
18:05 There's nothing to do but drink.
18:07 I've been drunk once in my life.
18:09 I've been drunk, no, it's not.
18:10 I've been drunk once in my life.
18:12 I'm not--
18:13 - Mike Leach always told me it was beautiful.
18:15 Mike Leach always told me it was beautiful.
18:17 He told me this place is gorgeous.
18:18 He'd walk from his house to work every day
18:20 'cause he said it was so beautiful.
18:22 - Dude, Mike Leach also coached in Lubbock, Texas
18:25 and Starkville, Mississippi.
18:26 So of course, Pullman looks beautiful.
18:29 And all due respect to one of the best ever.
18:31 All right, rest in peace, my man.
18:32 But here's the deal.
18:33 I've only been drunk once in my life.
18:35 I took three recruiting visits.
18:36 I canceled the one to Oregon.
18:37 Washington never called up yours, UW.
18:39 I went to Nebraska, Oregon State,
18:40 and I didn't even want to go to WSU,
18:42 but I went there 'cause I wanted to get drunk.
18:44 The only time I ever got drunk,
18:45 'cause nobody would know me
18:46 and I knew I wasn't going there.
18:47 And I lived an hour and a half from there.
18:48 All right, I digress.
18:50 Now, he's only been a head coach for a year or two.
18:52 Now, their offense, he's done some great things.
18:54 My point is it's hard to recruit there.
18:55 It's hard to be consistently good.
18:56 So the job he's done is that much more impressive.
18:59 They're averaging 534 yards of offense a game.
19:02 That's six in the country, 406 pass yards,
19:04 which is second in the country only
19:06 to one of the best passing offenses
19:07 we've seen in recent history,
19:10 which is University of Washington
19:11 with Michael Penix Jr.
19:12 So to me, those are two other guys who stand out to me.
19:15 I would personally lean towards Lance
19:17 'cause if I'm Michigan State,
19:18 I'm just trying to get something built.
19:19 And then if Lance doesn't stay long-term,
19:21 I can get a higher up head coach after that.
19:23 - I agree with you.
19:24 I think there's no chance Harlan Barnett,
19:26 the interim head coach, gets the job.
19:27 I'll throw two coordinator names out at you.
19:28 Sean Lewis at Colorado is gonna be a name
19:32 that people are gonna float around
19:34 because of the offense that we've seen this year at Colorado.
19:37 And the other one is Matt House,
19:38 who went to Michigan State,
19:40 former grad assistant in East Lansing.
19:43 He's been back and forth between college and NFL.
19:45 He's the current defensive coordinator at LSU.
19:47 So there's a couple of coordinator names.
19:48 And listen, there's gonna be quite a few names,
19:50 I think, that start to rise as the season goes on
19:52 and records start to get better.
19:53 So we'll pay attention to that.
19:55 It isn't the most marquee job ever either,
19:57 so that's gonna be something to watch as well.
19:59 He's Adam Karriker, I'm Jeff Turner.
20:00 Let's move on quickly, man, to the games.
20:02 We got about four or five minutes left in the show.
20:03 Let's get to Indiana and Penn State.
20:07 That's at 11 a.m. on CBS, noon Eastern.
20:10 Penn State's a 22 point favorite, excuse me,
20:13 32 point favorite after, after they got beat
20:17 by Ohio State last week, which I was shocked about.
20:20 But Penn State bounced back big time here.
20:24 I don't know that they covered the 32 point spread.
20:26 - So first of all, I have no problem admitting
20:29 when I was wrong.
20:30 I've been banging the Penn State over Ohio State.
20:32 - Me too, me too.
20:34 Man, Ohio State's a good football team, man.
20:36 - It wasn't even an eight point game.
20:38 I know that's what the final score was, 20 to 12,
20:40 but Ohio State was a two touchdown.
20:42 Yes, but they were two touchdowns better.
20:44 I know what the final score was, so hey, I was wrong.
20:47 Shout out to the Buckeyes.
20:48 They have two of the most impressive wins
20:50 of any team in the entire country this year.
20:51 Two top 10 wins at the time that they play those teams.
20:54 Hey, they're as proven as anybody.
20:55 Shout out to the Buckeyes.
20:56 All right, Penn State, I mean, can we throw the ball
21:00 past 10 yards downfield at some point?
21:02 - But two all are, it's crazy, right?
21:03 Yeah.
21:04 - They just have no wide receiver threats,
21:05 and we knew that coming into the season.
21:07 Marvin Harrison Jr. was the difference in that ball game.
21:09 - Maserati Marv.
21:11 - Congrats, Ohio State, Penn State.
21:14 Thanks for the bowl full of crow I have to eat now,
21:17 but I'm cool with it.
21:18 They're gonna beat Indiana.
21:19 I don't think they cover 32,
21:20 'cause Indiana's defense is an awful.
21:22 Penn State's offense, as we saw last week,
21:24 is not as good as I had once thought it was.
21:27 Penn State wins, they don't cover.
21:29 - Maryland, do they get bowl eligible?
21:30 They have a chance to this weekend against Northwestern.
21:33 That's on the Big Ten Network, a noon Eastern kickoff.
21:35 Maryland favored by almost two touchdowns.
21:37 I don't care about the spread.
21:38 I just am, I'm happy for Maryland, man.
21:40 They're gonna be bowl eligible before Halloween,
21:43 'cause they're gonna beat Northwestern on the road.
21:45 I think Tunga Viola has a big day.
21:48 16 touchdowns, five picks on the year.
21:50 He will get over the 2,000 yard mark in this game.
21:53 Somewhere probably around 2,200
21:55 after it's all said and done,
21:56 but I got Maryland in this one.
21:58 - I have Maryland as well.
22:00 They're coming off a bye week,
22:01 so they're gonna be fresh.
22:02 You got Tunga Viola versus actually
22:04 a pretty good pass defense in Northwestern.
22:06 They're only allowing--
22:07 - Without looking, can you spell Tunga Viola?
22:11 - No. - Give me a spelling.
22:12 Come on, give me it, give me it, try it.
22:13 - I didn't even write it here.
22:16 I wrote T-A-G-- - Just tell me,
22:17 tell me, guess.
22:18 Tunga Viola. - T-U-G.
22:22 - T-A-G-O-V-A-I-L-O-A.
22:25 - I almost wrote it right.
22:27 But I would, anyway, I digress.
22:28 I'm just happy I can pronounce it right.
22:30 All right. - I called him
22:31 his brother too, so.
22:32 We got a roll.
22:33 We talked about Maryland, we gotta move on.
22:35 - Don't interrupt me.
22:36 The Wildcats are only giving up 174 pass yards a game.
22:38 Okay, they're 103rd in the country versus the run.
22:41 Are on the run, only having 199 yards per game themselves.
22:45 They give up a lot of yards on the ground.
22:47 Maryland doesn't wanna run as much.
22:48 Maryland wins, that's the bottom line of this.
22:50 - Because Adam had a delay game,
22:52 we're skipping the Minnesota-Michigan State game.
22:53 We've talked about them too much today.
22:55 - Minnesota wins, Minnesota wins.
22:56 - We're going to Nebraska.
22:58 How are you guys only favored by two and a half points?
23:00 - Because we have 84 starters out on offense.
23:03 - Oh, really?
23:04 You're giving us the injury report?
23:05 I appreciate that.
23:05 Continue. - Day one starters.
23:07 Day one starters, we only have four
23:09 that are still starting.
23:10 Everyone else is out.
23:11 - Okay.
23:12 - Nebraska wins 14 to seven.
23:13 And I'm not even sure it's that high scoring.
23:16 - Total's 39 at, finally.
23:18 Ohio State and Wisconsin.
23:19 Can Wisconsin slow down the juggernaut
23:21 that is Ohio State?
23:22 My short answer is no.
23:24 I think Ohio State gets after
23:26 the backup quarterback for Wisconsin.
23:27 Forced a lot of turnovers.
23:29 At least two or three Ohio State wins big.
23:31 - Yeah, Ohio State's a 14 and a half point favorite.
23:33 I don't like the half,
23:34 but I'm still going to take Ohio State and the over.
23:37 - All right, finally, man,
23:38 before we get out of here on the Big Ten Show,
23:40 shout out to our friends at Jacobson Seed Company,
23:42 jacobsonseed.com.
23:44 Man, the floor is yours.
23:46 Tell me about Nebraska volleyball,
23:48 because on Saturday night,
23:50 that was one of the coolest things ever
23:51 to see them play Wisconsin.
23:52 And they are rolling.
23:55 - Here's the deal, right?
23:56 And I'll do this in one minute.
23:57 We got a minute.
23:58 Nebraska volleyball is 19 and 0
24:00 at the time we're recording this show.
24:01 They've played eight ranked teams.
24:03 That means 42% of their schedule is versus ranked teams.
24:07 They've beaten the number two team in the country,
24:09 Wisconsin, who had won 30 straight sets
24:12 in the toughest volleyball conference in America,
24:13 which was the Big Ten.
24:14 Then they lost three out of five to Nebraska.
24:16 They're going to play again,
24:17 at least twice, if not three more times this year,
24:19 regular season, Big Ten, and maybe NCAA tournament.
24:22 - Correct, yep.
24:22 - All right, Nebraska also.
24:24 Top three most viewed volleyball matches of all time
24:27 have all been in the past year.
24:29 They involved Nebraska, Nebraska, Wisconsin this year,
24:30 Nebraska, Wisconsin last year,
24:32 and Nebraska UNO in front of 92,003 people
24:34 in Memorial Stadium.
24:36 Let's be real.
24:36 There is no place like Nebraska,
24:38 whether I'm unbiased or not,
24:39 the facts don't care about your feelings.
24:41 - And listen, man, I know women's basketball
24:43 has taken a big jump forward with momentum,
24:46 viewership, money, all of that,
24:48 but volleyball in the last two years
24:51 has been on TV more than I can ever imagine.
24:53 And you see the scenes from the NCAA tournament.
24:55 You see the scenes from places like Penn State,
24:57 Wisconsin, and at Nebraska, where it is the best.
25:00 Awesome scene.
25:01 Congratulations to them as well.
25:03 - Final thought for me today.
25:04 Iowa tried to duplicate in basketball with Kaitlin Clark,
25:08 the most recognizable name in all of women's sports
25:10 when it comes to basketball.
25:12 Okay, fill their football stadium.
25:14 They did an admirable job.
25:15 They had 55,000 people watching.
25:17 - Most ever for a women's basketball game.
25:19 - That's cute.
25:20 - He's Adam Garriker.
25:22 I'm Jeff Turd.
25:24 As another page has turned here on the Big Ten Show.
25:27 Thanks for listening and look forward
25:29 to checking in next time.
25:30 [BLANK_AUDIO]
