Parramatta rezone of main street to accommodate more high rise infrastructure

North Parramatta is set to be transformed with more high-rise apartments. The state government is taking over planning controls there with the local council's blessing. And the premier is again warning other councils to get on board with higher density or face government intervention.

00:51 New height limits are yet to be announced, but the Premier insists there's ample infrastructure

00:58 There's three big parks that are located in the immediate vicinity. There's two primary

01:05 Unlike some councils that are resisting the push for density, Parramatta Council asked
01:10 the State Government to step in and take control to finish the re-zoning of the precinct.
01:16 There were councillors over the years that had different views and all that, it was going
01:19 nowhere, so we thought it was the best idea.
01:21 Chris Minns reiterated his warning for councils opposed to density.
