00:00 is introducing an in-season tournament.
00:03 - A what?
00:04 - An in-season tournament.
00:05 Now, I wanna know, are you excited
00:09 about this in-season tournament?
00:10 Starts in November, goes to the beginning of December.
00:13 - Okay.
00:15 - It's on Fridays.
00:16 So basically the NBA team forgiven 80 games
00:19 instead of 82 games.
00:21 - Okay.
00:21 - We don't really know until it gets going.
00:24 Exactly, it's a head-scratcher for many.
00:26 - What?
00:27 - So that is why.
00:28 - What are we doing?
00:29 I don't understand.
00:30 And you're asking me my opinion of it, like you.
00:34 I don't think I understand it.
00:35 And I love basketball, I've read about it.
00:37 I don't understand exactly what we're doing,
00:39 especially why we're doing it.
00:40 - I think the reason why is obviously for financial.
00:45 - Sure, but to me this feels like,
00:47 and we're college basketball junkies also.
00:50 It feels like the pre-season NIT.
00:53 - Yeah.
00:53 - Like, do you celebrate that?
00:55 Do you give a trophy?
00:56 I mean, it's just like a practice game.
00:58 - I don't, we don't need this.
01:01 It's called the regular season and then there's the playoffs.
01:05 Why is there gonna be a tournament?
01:07 Why do you fill the donut with something?
01:08 There's a hole in the donut for a reason.
01:10 It's still delicious.
01:11 And you put like a hamburger inside your donut
01:13 and all of a sudden you're like, gross.
01:14 - But it does seem like maybe what they're trying to do
01:16 is during that time is usually when people tune off of NBA,
01:19 tune into the NFL.
01:21 So maybe the hope here is that,
01:23 hey, if this in-season tournament really catches fire,
01:28 - I think that the confusing thing is you can try to read
01:32 about it and still can't comprehend it.
01:34 - Right.
01:35 - And so I think--
01:36 - I gotta say, we're not, we're slightly intelligent people,
01:38 but we both read it and we're both like, what is this?
01:41 You're like, I don't know.
01:41 Good luck.
01:42 - Right.
01:43 - I don't know if I like it.
01:44 - Maybe it's one of those things where you have to like,
01:45 kind of if you're playing a card game
01:47 and somebody's describing to you the rules
01:49 and you're like, we gotta do a practice round.
01:50 Maybe once we get into it, it'll be like,
01:52 okay, this makes sense now.
01:54 - I do.
01:54 In theory, I know what they're doing.
01:56 They're trying to make a nondescript,
01:59 middle of the season, regular season game more important.
02:02 And I get that.
02:03 - It would be exciting,
02:04 especially with all the rookies and everything else.
02:06 - But I, selling it to the players,
02:08 like this regular season game is more important
02:10 than the others, they're gonna be like, why?
02:12 Does it count like three in this, no, it just counts one.
02:14 But you, it's part of another--
02:16 - It's a different title.
02:17 - Right.
02:18 So they stole this idea from English Premier League soccer.
02:22 I'm not a soccer guy, but I have friends who go,
02:25 and they're always like,
02:25 my favorite team's playing in a tournament game.
02:27 I'm like, well, what about your league?
02:28 Well, this is a tournament outside the league.
02:30 I'm like, what?
02:32 And they have like three of these going all the time.
02:33 There's an FA Cup and a GL Cup,
02:36 and there's all these tournaments within their league
02:38 and outside of their league.
02:39 And to me, it just is confusing.
02:41 So again, let's have an open mind, let's watch it
02:45 and say, oh, it's Mavericks Nuggets.
02:47 This is a regular season game
02:48 and an in-season tournament game.
02:50 Maybe they'll, maybe we'll be on the same--
02:52 - Maybe they'll touch on.
02:53 We'll see.
02:54 - I don't know.
02:55 I gotta understand it first.
