Terry Jones speaks about the history and restoration of his 1909 ambulance.
Transcript
00:00 My name's Terry Jones and I've been a member of the northern section of the
00:05 Vinnies Car Club now for about 25 years.
00:10 I bought the vehicle in 1994 off the Vinnies Car Club. I didn't know it was an
00:18 ambulance at the time. After collating a lot of information and people coming up
00:23 to me and asking me, "Are you the guy that's got the old ambulance?" and
00:27 whatnot, I decided that nobody else was going to take it on and do the
00:33 restoration or on your own.
00:36 When I bought it, it was in a bit of a mess.
00:40 Completely understored condition.
00:42 As you get into projects, you develop a passion and that passion carries you through.
00:49 I enjoy restoring vehicles. It's rewarding work.
00:55 At the end of the day, on most days, you can see a benefit from a day's work.
01:01 You haven't got the boss telling you what to do or how to go about it.
01:04 I do love the old things. I love the wooden wheels. I love the air. I love the shape.
01:10 I love the history. So, you know, tick, tick.
01:13 Today's a big day. A lovely day for me.
01:16 I'm really happy for the club. I'm really happy for Launceston.
01:21 You know, everybody that's here today, they're like me.
01:26 You've got a big smile on your face. It's a nice feeling.
