Predicting the final score of the Week 8 game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Cincinnati Bengals.
Transcript
00:00 If the 49ers win this week, they're going to need their defense to play way better than
00:04 it played last week because it was alarmingly bad against known statue Kirk Cousins.
00:10 The Niners sacked him a grand total of zero times.
00:14 This week the Niners have to face Joe Burrow, who's much more mobile and playing better
00:21 than Kirk Cousins.
00:23 Fortunately for the 49ers, the Bengals do a terrible job of protecting Burrow, while
00:29 the Vikings do an excellent job of protecting Cousins, which means that finally, finally,
00:35 Nick Bosa and the 49ers pass rush should make an impact in this game.
00:41 Advantage 49ers.
00:43 The Niners are desperate too.
00:44 They absolutely need this win because how can they lose three games in a row going into
00:50 the bye week and really call themselves Super Bowl contenders?
00:53 I mean, forget the number one seed, a three game losing streak to three teams that are
00:58 mediocre at best.
00:59 Nah, you're not a legitimate Super Bowl contender anymore.
01:02 They're desperate for a win.
01:03 Meanwhile, Bengals have won two in a row.
01:07 They're not desperate at all.
01:09 They're feeling good about themselves.
01:12 Advantage 49ers.
01:14 The Bengals offense goes through Jamar Chase.
01:18 He's their guy.
01:19 And this year he's ninth in receiving yards at like 556.
01:22 So he's elite.
01:25 The Niners secondary isn't elite right now.
01:27 Last week they made rookie wide receiver Jordan Addison look like Justin Jefferson.
01:35 So how are they going to do against Jamar Chase?
01:36 I mean, Tavarius Ward in particular really struggled against Addison.
01:40 He had an interception early, but before halftime Tavarius Ward dropped a potential pick that
01:46 Addison caught and took 60 yards for a touchdown right before halftime.
01:50 That essentially was the difference in the game.
01:53 How is Tavarius Ward going to do against Jamar Chase?
01:55 They face each other twice and one time Tavarius Ward gave up 266 yards and three touchdowns.
02:01 Advantage Bengals.
02:03 Finally, Deebo Samuels out again.
02:07 Trent Williams most likely out again.
02:11 And the offense has scored 17 points in back-to-back games.
02:14 How are they going to score more?
02:16 They need Brock Purdy to play and to play well.
02:18 He hasn't passed the final stage of the concussion protocol.
02:20 He probably will today.
02:22 Is he going to step up?
02:23 Is he going to play better or worse than last week considering he's six days off a concussion?
02:28 I think it's reasonable to expect him to play worse than last week because of this injury
02:33 and because of the people who are out around him and because of the fact that the Bengals
02:36 are a better defense.
02:38 The Vikings aren't a great pass defense.
02:39 The Bengals are giving up a quarterback rating of 79 this season.
02:44 Advantage Bengals.
02:46 Niners need this win, but they're banged up and they're losing confidence.
02:49 Meanwhile, the Bengals are gaining confidence.
02:53 They always start slow.
02:54 They typically finish strong.
02:57 And their quarterback is healthier and just playing better than the 49ers quarterback.
03:03 So look for the 49ers kicker, Jake Booty, to miss one field goal and the Niners to lose
03:10 a low-scoring game.
03:12 I predict the final score will be Bengals 23, 49ers 20.
