00:08 the biggest diagnosis week we've ever had, Rob.
00:11 We're talking over 11,000 views just on one video.
00:15 People love Iowa.
00:16 That's kind of what it comes down to.
00:18 You got people fired up on Twitter over the weekend because you said you'll never understand.
00:23 This goes back to a couple weeks ago in the diagnosis of going out of shotgun on fourth
00:28 and one, it just seems like nothing good happens.
00:32 Well, and again, there's times where you get under center and it doesn't work either.
00:37 But what you see here is a setup.
00:39 I mean, you had a whole series of events where they had a penalty, they got another penalty
00:43 back against Purdue, moves them back up into fourth and one.
00:47 So there is things that I want people to pay attention to here is you want to look and
00:51 see where Sims gets hit.
00:54 So Sims is right here.
00:56 He gets to about right here before he gets hit.
01:00 And in the formation they're in, you've got a couple of guys who come in untouched and
01:07 hit them right there at the 45 yard line.
01:10 I mean, literally three to four yards behind the line of scrimmage.
01:14 If he's at least here, he's got a chance.
01:16 Now, I'm not saying it's a great chance because if you watch as this play goes, you'll notice
01:21 Ben Scott actually gets blown up and shoved backwards.
01:26 There is, however, again, if Sims is right here, a little bit of a hole opens up right
01:32 here that he could have basically fallen forward and gotten that first down if he had been
01:38 under center.
01:40 And you see that right here, you see that hole opens up.
01:44 These guys right here, turn my pen on, there we go.
01:47 These guys kind of fill it fairly quickly, but if he was under center, he would have
01:51 had a chance to just roll right in here, and you see where that line of scrimmage is at.
01:56 He could have fallen forward for that first down.
02:00 Borkircher gets a really nice block right here on this guy, and that opens up that hole
02:04 for just a second.
02:07 The hole was there.
02:09 If he's under center, he gets it.
02:11 The old line did get blown back here a bit.
02:14 I understand that, but at least the opportunity would have been there had he actually been
02:20 under center.
02:21 Instead, you have a play where he gets hit, he fumbles, because Jeff Sims turns the ball
02:26 over, God bless him.
02:27 He just does.
02:28 I mean, I don't have anything against the guy personally, but he does not hold onto
02:32 the ball well, and you saw that on this play.
02:34 A lot of people have been screaming, "Give Jeff Sims another chance."
02:37 He got another chance, and he fumbled a football, and it goes all the way for six.
02:41 And it does.
02:42 And I don't know how good an idea it would be to try him at a different position.
02:48 You got a guy who's three or four years into a college career, having only played quarterback.
02:53 I don't know if there's a lot of utility in trying to turn him into sort of a large
02:57 Luke McCaffrey type.
03:00 So what's your remedy?
03:01 If Nebraska's at fourth and one, should they ever go out of the shotgun again the rest
03:04 of the season?
03:05 I don't think so.
03:06 I mean, that's just my opinion.
03:07 I think you've got some limitations in terms of the skill position.
03:12 You've got some limitations in terms of the offensive line.
03:16 They don't have the capability, at least at this point, to hold those blocks long enough
03:22 for a guy to go from five, six yards deep all the way back up to the line of scrimmage
03:28 and not have a few guys get through.
03:30 So that's the Doc's diagnosis.
03:32 Do not go for it.
03:34 Out of the shotgun on fourth and one the rest of the season.
03:37 Problem solved.
03:38 For Dr. Rob Zaduska and Travis Justice, we'll talk to you tomorrow on the Doc's Diagnosis
