00:03 >> Okay, I want to see credit Dan and their group.
00:05 [BLANK_AUDIO]
00:09 They ended up getting control of the game.
00:11 We hung in there and did some decent things on the defensively.
00:17 He stops on the reds on the turnovers.
00:19 And obviously were positive things.
00:20 But had the one guy on offense in the second quarter.
00:23 We got the money and kind of going.
00:25 But really, it was more of a game with missed opportunities for us.
00:28 Really couldn't make any plays in the past game.
00:31 I think we protected very well up there down and could stay on the field.
00:37 So eventually, they ended up having the ball obviously the way we did.
00:42 And kind of turned into a running game for us down here.
00:46 So not good enough.
00:50 We're gonna have to give a pass the ball here.
00:52 I bet it'll overdo it though.
00:55 >> Josh, I know that this is a team game and
00:56 they're willing to hold themselves accountable.
00:58 The play from Jimmy tonight, like you said, there were plays out there that
01:03 either were major turnovers.
01:05 >> Yeah, I'm not gonna make excuses for any of that.
01:09 I thought we did have some opportunities.
01:11 And there was other plays where we didn't have an opportunity.
01:17 So we'll have to look at all the film and see all that.
01:20 But I didn't think there was, I think we had some opportunities to make more plays
01:25 than what we did and we just didn't get very long.
01:27 So there was probably a number of reasons for that.
01:30 >> And you thought of going to Aiden?
01:32 >> No, I didn't think about that today.
01:35 We're kind of grinding through it.
01:37 When you get obviously on the rough in the passer, I mean, that was a long time.
01:41 But it was still a one sport game for a little while there, obviously 16-14.
01:46 And then we just couldn't string together enough plays in the passing game to
01:51 really make it tighter than what it was.
01:53 >> Josh, on October 1st after Aiden's game, you said playing quarterback in this
01:58 league starts with protecting the football.
02:00 Through eight games, Jimmy hasn't played in two and a half and
02:03 he's leading the NFL in interceptions.
02:06 Is that something that you're gonna have to take a longer look at?
02:09 >> Yeah, I mean, look, we can't win if we get the ball, period.
02:12 And there's a lot of things that go into that.
02:16 >> Yes, sir. >> I wanna make sure I say that.
02:18 There's a lot of things that go into that.
02:19 So protection, routes, reads, throws, catches, all that stuff.
02:25 But at the end of the day, we have to be able to take care of the ball.
02:30 We don't fall off.
02:33 We have a fumble this year.
02:34 So we know, the quarterback room knows we have to take care of the ball,
02:38 better than what we have.
02:39 I thought the defense gave us great opportunities to,
02:42 we won the turnover margin tonight, but we ended up not being able to win a game.
02:46 So, which is kind of a rarity, but that speaks to the issue we have.
02:52 >> I know there's only so much you can kind of do in game adjustments and
02:55 stuff, talk about the quarterback.
02:56 But it's been half the season now with this offense not 100 performing.
02:59 I'm sure you've been through, the offense is not playing the level you want.
03:03 What are some of the big changes you can make based on your past?
03:06 >> I think you gotta look at a lot of things.
03:08 But if there was one thing that we needed to do just a little bit better,
03:13 then that would be simple.
03:15 I think it's a combination of a lot of little things.
03:18 Again, tonight there was times where we protected well, we had plays,
03:22 we made plays.
03:23 There was times where we ran the ball effectively.
03:25 And there was times where there was other things that were the problem.
03:29 So I've always said good offensive football, good defensive football,
03:33 good special teams football is the result of 11 guys really taking ownership of
03:38 their job, being put in a good position by the coaching staff.
03:43 Which that's always something you look at too.
03:46 And then having an opportunity to go out there and
03:49 string together positive plays.
03:50 But it's gonna take a lot of you on every play to do that.
03:52 So, yeah, obviously we're doing it on the down side.
03:56 >> You've seen some dynamic offenses in your day,
03:58 you've orchestrated some dynamic offenses in your day.
04:01 What did you see from Jameer Gibbs tonight that helps you to pressure your defense?
04:04 >> Yeah, I thought he stuck with it.
04:06 I thought we were decent early in the game.
04:08 This guy, he's a talented player.
04:11 Obviously, they drafted him, why they did,
04:13 because he's got a really dynamic skill set.
04:15 And again, they were able to control the game enough to give him the ball,
04:20 whatever it was, 20 some times in order for him to create some of those plays.
04:24 I thought our running defense was decent early.
04:26 But anytime you have to be on the field for as long as we were,
04:29 you have to have team opportunities.
04:32 And I thought he took advantage of it.
04:34 >> Devontae is clearly frustrated, but what do you tell him after that?
04:36 >> Yeah, I mean, look, he can do what he can do.
04:40 And as I said before, receivers, obviously,
04:44 they're the last in that chain, and they gotta do their job.
04:49 But there's a lot of things that have to happen before that ball gets to them.
04:54 I thought he got himself open a handful of times and had a few opportunities.
04:57 And I got one tip, overthrew a couple that would have been maybe big plays.
05:02 But look, at the end of the day, you just gotta keep working and
05:06 try to do your job the best you can.
05:08 We can't control one another's jobs, but we have to try to work and
05:12 continue to improve each one of us.
05:14 And I think he does that, but he had a great week of practice.
05:17 And I think he'll continue to do that.
05:18 I don't know.
05:20 >> Josh, I know you're only eight games in, you still got nine left.
05:23 But at this point in the season, when the offense hasn't taken off,
05:27 do you have to look at everything?
05:28 Do you stay the course?
05:29 >> We should, honestly, we should.
05:32 I mean, it's just, it's not productive enough.
05:35 So it doesn't matter, pick a winner, you know what I mean?
05:39 Honestly, we have to be able to produce more points in order to win games in this
05:44 league, and right now we're not doing that.
05:46 So that's obviously my responsibility, and
05:49 we'll take a look at everything we're doing, everybody that's doing it.
05:53 And we'll try to figure out if there's a better way.
05:54 And that's what we can do.
05:57 Again, you're right, there's still nine games to go.
06:00 So we have a lot of football left.
06:03 We have played stretch with up-kick football, but
06:05 it's certainly not consistent anymore.
06:07 >> Could that include maybe a change in that quarterback?
06:09 >> I'm not gonna talk about that right now.
06:11 >> That's good, thanks coach.
06:12 >> Thanks.
