00:00 A leopard is on the loose in parts of the IT corridor in south-east Bengaluru and its
00:05 presence in the area has sparked a sense of scare among the locals.
00:10 After the big cat was spotted multiple times in the area over the past two days, inhabitants
00:15 of Tony apartment complexes close to MS Dhoni Global School on Kudlum main road and those
00:21 living in the adjacent regions of Singasandra and HSR layout are tense over the sightings.
00:28 Due to these repeated sightings inside apartment complexes, especially at night, the forest
00:32 officials in Bengaluru Urban have been vigilant over the issue.
00:36 The Deputy Conservator of Forests issued a precautionary advisory, advising children
00:41 to remain indoors and urging people to refrain from early morning and late night walks.
00:47 In a warning, Deputy Conservator of Forests, Bengaluru Urban Division, Ravindra Kumar cautioned
00:53 that the leopard would return.
00:55 He said, "People are concerned, but we haven't received any updates since the incident.
01:00 Given that Banaghatta National Park is just 8 km away, the leopard could return easily."
01:07 Ravindra further added, "We advise people to avoid early morning and late night walks
01:11 and children should stay indoors.
01:14 We have deployed two trap cages and will add two more tomorrow."
01:18 The Forest Department is undertaking a combing operation to trace and rescue the leopard
01:22 by deploying over 25 personnel in the area, along with a unit of veterinarians and sharpshooters
01:29 to tranquilise the big cat.
01:31 For this endeavour, two drone cameras have been made operational, while the Forest Department
01:35 and police personnel have been patrolling the streets, cautioning citizens to go out
01:40 with others, particularly in the morning and late at night.
01:44 Using the drone cameras, they have executed surveillance operations across Kudlu, Singasandra,
01:50 Somasundara Pallya, Hospalya, HSR, Parangi Pallya and Bandepalya and placed cages at
01:57 multiple points.
01:58 The Forest Department has also asked the locals not to come out alone during the night and
02:02 stay vigilant until the animal is captured.
02:05 The officials have continued to gather information for farmers who have had encounters with the
02:08 leopard.
02:09 Forest guards have conducted patrols in the area throughout the night, uncovering footprints
02:13 and other signs indicating the presence of the leopard.
