00:00 The government of Bolivia decided to break diplomatic relations with Israel in the middle
00:04 of the genocide perpetrated by the occupying forces against the Palestinian people.
00:08 The foreign minister accused the government of Tel Aviv of committing crimes against humanity
00:12 in its attack on the Gaza Strip.
00:14 Likewise, he condemned the aggressive and disproportionate Israeli military offensive
00:18 in Gaza and the threat to international peace and security.
00:22 In this context, in 2009, the Plurinational State of Bolivia had broken off diplomatic
00:26 relations with Tel Aviv in protest against the attacks on the Gaza Strip, being later
00:31 re-established in February 2020 during the de facto government of Yanin Agnes.
00:36 Consistent with the purpose and principles of the Charter of the United Nations, as a
00:49 state in the know, to verbal aid by the vice foreign ministers, the rights of life, liberty,
00:57 peace, the rejection of all types of cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment established
01:02 in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, international law, as well as international
01:08 humanitarian law, and in the framework of its principle position of the right to life,
01:14 we are sending this official communication to the State of Israel, in which it has been
01:19 stated we make know our decision as a Plurinational State of Bolivia to break diplomatic relations
01:27 with Israel.
01:28 We also demand the cessation of the attacks in the Gaza Strip that have already caused
01:33 thousands of civilians fatalities and the forced displacement of Palestinians.
01:38 During his speech at the United Nations, Bolivia representative Tyriane Diego Pari rejected
01:45 Israel's attacks against Palestinian people and declared the need for urgent action.
01:51 Reject the loss of life in any part of the world and the suffering of peoples regardless
01:57 of their nationality.
01:59 For this reason we must act with urgency and we must do so coherently.
02:04 The lives of Palestinian people, men and women, have the same value as those of all citizens
02:12 of the world.
02:14 In recent days we have watched, stunned, these disproportionate attacks against civilians
02:22 in Gaza.
02:25 Just to date more than 8,500 Palestinians have lost their lives.
02:31 Some 70% of them are women and children.
02:36 We are at a turning point in this conflict where Israel, as the occupying power, has
02:42 decided to apply collective punishment to the Palestinians in Gaza.
02:49 The Bolivian representative also reiterated his government and people's respect for the
02:54 international law and the shadow of the United Nations and announced his government's decision
02:58 to break diplomatic ties with the State of Israel.
03:00 Let's take a listen and to these words.
03:03 Bolivia has the utmost respect for international law, for the charter of the United Nations
03:11 and for the member states and we will go down on the right side of history.
03:15 We are on the side of the rights of the Palestinian people.
03:19 As a result, the people and government of Bolivia has taken the decision to break diplomatic
03:27 ties from today with the State of Israel because we consider it a state that does not respect
03:36 life of peoples, of international law or international humanitarian law.
