00:00 It is an iconic pub and just walking past and seeing it empty, it just made me, I had
00:06 retired by that time and it just made me think, it made them feelings come back to me again.
00:10 I just thought well if I can find a place that owns it and if it's a reasonable price
00:14 we'll go for it.
00:15 We've been friends for over 20 years, we've worked together previously, it's something
00:19 that he just, we've talked about having some interest in something for, as Brian keeps
00:24 referring to, the older end, which I'm not quite as old as he is but something for that
00:28 sort of 40 year old plus that felt comfortable for people to go out because there wasn't
00:33 anything really in the town of a size that could cope with that.
00:38 I mean there are some decent pubs in the town but it was something a little bit bigger that
00:42 could have bands on, tailored to suit really, like as Brian said previously, the older end.
00:49 Upstairs, since we took over, we've completely revamped upstairs and you can see from downstairs
00:54 we've done exactly the same.
00:56 We opened upstairs about six weeks ago and then from there, as soon as that was opened,
01:01 we came downstairs and we did six weeks downstairs and basically ripped everything out and started
01:06 again.
01:07 Used to love coming in here, used to play golf, come in here, steak sandwich after golf,
01:11 used to meet here when we were going out at nights and it's the building as well.
01:15 My background is architecture and construction building, more recently facilities management
01:22 so the building's always been of interest to me.
01:24 I think Burnley needed somewhere like this place and it's a big venue, there's 150 people
01:29 downstairs and 150 upstairs and like I said it's really mainly for somewhere where you
01:36 want to go where you can chillax, you don't feel threatened by anybody.
01:40 We have dorming on so yeah it's just a place where you get a good vibe inside, there really
01:47 are nice people inside and you can relax.
01:49 It's been a very big project, bigger than we envisaged to start with to be fair, behind
01:57 the scenes there's been a lot of work put into it.
01:59 People don't really come out at all or they come out maybe at ten o'clock but we find
02:04 since we've opened, we're getting people in sort of like at tea time and then they stay
02:09 in, they like the vibe so they stay in until maybe seven, eight o'clock at night and then
02:13 we get the people coming out at seven o'clock and staying right through to the end of the
02:16 night, maybe twelve o'clock at night.
