Doncaster daily bulletin November 2: Stephanie Bateman with the headlines
Transcript
00:00 Good morning everybody, it's Steph at the Doncaster Free Press and it's Thursday, November
00:03 2nd. Just bringing you our top headlines this morning. We put out a story late yesterday,
00:10 quite horrendous. A little girl, nine years old, opened the doors to some trick-or-treaters
00:15 on Halloween night and they attempted to steal all her treats to start with, but then rather
00:21 horrifically threatened to rape her. We've got some comments from a very, very upset
00:26 mother quite understandably. The police are involved, but you can read all about that
00:31 this morning. It will be going back out on Facebook first thing as well. Then we have
00:36 a piece, yes, Halloween is over so we're thinking Christmas. Only 53 days to go and the Thorn
00:43 Rural Lions have sent out their list of Santa's sleigh dates, the dates where Father Christmas
00:49 will be visiting the streets of Doncaster, collecting money for the charities that the
00:54 Lions support and hopefully bringing a bit of festive cheer to our residents. And then
01:00 finally some good news that I'm going to be writing about this morning. I did a piece
01:05 earlier in the year, well I say earlier in the year, it was about September, about a
01:13 pub, the Mucky Duck in Drakehold. It had to be sealed off after a digger, a stolen digger,
01:23 trashed into the building. It is a listed building, there's been a lot of damage caused.
01:29 They've had to try and source brickwork for the 17th century building, new windows, all
01:35 sorts they've had to do. But they're now looking at reopening on the 10th of November, which
01:40 is really, really good news. So good luck to them. If you can give them support, please
01:45 do so. Like I said, that's going to be going out on the website later this morning, so
01:50 keep an eye out for that. So for anything else that's happening in Doncaster, visit
01:54 the website www.doncasterfreepress.co.uk and obviously Facebook and X as well. Have a great
