00:00 hello it's Michael Plant coming to you from outside Old Trafford after tonight's
00:06 Carabao Cup game
00:10 sorry a few technical difficulties there at the start of this video but it's
00:16 alright it's Michael Plant coming to you from outside Old Trafford after tonight's
00:19 Carabao Cup game between Manchester United and Newcastle another absolutely dismal
00:24 performance from Manchester United an incredibly worrying trend for them
00:28 beating 3-0 against Newcastle United but that doesn't really tell the story
00:33 this was another game where United completely lacked any spirit any desire
00:38 any passion just simply were unable to really have any impact in the game and
00:43 Newcastle I mean Newcastle put out a second string team here seven of the
00:48 players who started tonight for Newcastle haven't started a Premier League
00:50 game this season and there were eight changes from the weekend game this is a
00:55 Newcastle side who are completely bereft of options at the moment in terms of
00:58 injuries and they play five full backs from the start and they play with a
01:03 striker but still they comfortably and easily dispatched Manchester United this
01:09 is just I mean this is becoming incredibly worrying for the club and
01:13 certainly for Eric ten Hag it really does they're starting to feel like you
01:17 know there are so many similarities between what we've seen from this
01:21 manager and previous managers Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Jose Mourinho, the two that
01:25 jump out this is a group that aren't fighting for ten Hag this is a group
01:29 that don't have any backbone don't have any spirit don't have any desire and
01:34 passion and you know we've seen so many times before with United but tonight you
01:39 know there are good footballers there there's no denying that you know look how
01:42 Harry Maguire has played at times terrible tonight look at Diogo Dalo
01:47 little spells where he's played well it was absolutely abysmal tonight
01:51 Casemiro is a five-time Champions League winner atrocious absolutely atrocious
01:55 taken off at half-time by ten Hag and United I mean Anthony deemed somewhat
02:01 85 million pounds atrocious you know can't be his man, he's got up against a 19 year old Lewis Hall at full back and it's a battle that Hall wins rather than
02:13 Anthony it's just it's just absolutely abysmal from United this it really feels
02:18 like this can't continue actually like this now they've obviously got a big
02:22 match of the weekend against Fulham and then Luton the next two in the
02:25 league but you know if this doesn't turn around you just cannot see any way that
02:31 Derek ten Hag doesn't lose his job and it's incredible to say that we're talking this way now
02:35 it's only been a couple weeks ago that I would have thought I actually would have
02:37 found talking that laughable that given the good job he's done but it just is
02:42 you know it's just so worrying from a United perspective that this just keeps
02:46 happening and this is toxic this football club and it just happens year on year after year we know who the problem is it's the Glaciers but ten Hag simply isn't doing a good enough job at the moment
02:55 he came out with you know fine talk afterwards tonight said that he takes the
03:00 blame for everything but you know it felt like the sort of thing the managers
03:06 have to feel like they almost have to say rather than does he really believe it
03:08 and I just mean those players aren't playing for him he can't get a tune of
03:13 certain players he can't get can't coach these players to get better
03:19 just impossible to know where to go now
03:24 yeah just some bad performances I mean I do play a Reigns every match I don't have ever given lower Reigns in general than I give tonight
03:32 I mean I give three players two out of ten
03:37 and you know as I say this just simply cannot continue for Manchester United and I give
03:47 four three out of ten three out of tens as well yeah I'm struggling to find new words to describe this now
03:56 I've said it so many times have repeated myself and you know for United
04:01 tonight as well they've crossed out of this tournament a tournament that all the top
04:04 sides by and large are actually out of you know Arsenal are out of the crash tonight
04:10 Tottenham are out, who else Manchester City are involved and you know this is a real opportunity for United to go and win this competition
04:15 it's just really difficult to know where you're going and repeat yourself
04:21 because it's just so difficult to know what new to add
04:24 there's no quality there's no fight there's no spirit there's there are at the moment
04:28 no positives and there wasn't one display you could point to and say that was good
04:33 and I mean Andre and Anna didn't make any mistakes that's the highlight of the night really
04:38 couldn't really do anything for all three goals that's just how terrible things are at the moment
04:44 yeah a few positives I mean I have to say I thought Newcastle were fantastic tonight
04:49 I thought some of their players were really really good certain players have come in and will have really staked a claim to keep their place in the team
04:55 certainly not the case for United so many of their players have you know you had the likes of Hannibal come in tonight
04:59 I mean he should have been sent off in the first 15 minutes for two tackles
05:03 one of which he was booked, one he managed to escape trouble from
05:07 who else came in, Amr Bakim on at half time he was woeful as well
05:11 Garnaccio simply can't do it from the start of games as well
05:14 so many poor individual performances Anthony Martial just simply doesn't care
05:18 there's no effort there's no desire from him just atrocious
05:21 there's so many issues and so many problems for United to deal with
05:23 I don't necessarily think second the manager is the right
05:26 he's going to fix them but at this stage it does feel you know unless things turn around quickly it does feel inapplicable
05:31 but for me Michael Clant, Outsider, Old Trafford thank you very much for watching
