00:00Newcastle United are Carabao Cup finalists yet again with a 2-0 win here over Arsenal
00:06at St James' Park. That's 4-0 on aggregate and it was a brilliant performance by Newcastle.
00:10You know they came into the game 2-0 ahead and they were favourites but just because they were
00:14favourites and had that favourites tag doesn't mean they're going to do the job on tying side
00:18but they did in such a professional manner that is you know Newcastle have had big games in the
00:23past under Eddie Howe and you know risen to the occasion at times but that was one of the most
00:27professional performances I've seen Newcastle put in. I spoke before the game about the crowd
00:33you know being able to destabilise Arsenal being able to make them crumble under the pressure and
00:38I would say yes it did but you don't want to I don't want to focus on that too much because
00:41that would take away from Newcastle United's performance. Newcastle were brilliant today,
00:44Arsenal were rubbish but Newcastle made them rubbish again you know for the third time this
00:48year. It was absolutely fantastic from Newcastle without Joe Linton in the you know in the squad
00:53that was a big injury blow and Eddie Howe even made a big technical change. We don't see it
00:57too often from Eddie Howe but he went from his tried and tested 4-3-3 to a back five
01:02and probably forced into it by that Joe Linton injury but you know what it worked an absolute
01:06treat. Newcastle were brilliant five at the back were fantastic and to a man they were they were
01:11really good and yeah as I said the two changes was Sven Botman came in for Joe Linton and Kieran
01:18Trippier came in for Tino Livramento that was an enforced one the Joe Linton one was of course
01:21forced by an injury and yeah they'd land up in the back five and that allowed them just to press
01:26from the back. It looked defensive and I'll admit before the game you think is this going to too
01:30defensive are Newcastle going to sit back and hope that you know with that 2-0 lead they can just
01:34defend but they didn't. What it allowed Newcastle to do which I thought was pretty genius to be
01:38fair was allowed one of the centre backs at any point to press up onto the midfield or even the
01:43strikers of Arsenal you know multiple times Declan Rice was followed, Sandro Tonali stuck on Martin
01:48Odegaard you know like he was on him like a rash the whole game but that defence were able to press
01:53and then if one player pressed high up they could go back into a back four with Lewis Hall
01:57and Kieran Trippier on either side and it worked it just Newcastle worked you know they dealt with
02:02a couple of early chances from Arsenal what chances a couple of corners a couple of free
02:06kicks that was it and other than that Newcastle were brilliant the atmosphere was fantastic
02:09held by Alexander Isak's goal VAR cruelly ruled it out but it was a brilliant finish you know it
02:14was a fantastic ball from Gordon and Isak just found it at the top corner a bit like the goal
02:18he scored against Liverpool way back when on for his first goal for the club it just sort of
02:22gave the keeper no chance and you think at that point when the referee rules out you're like oh
02:26no is this going to be a tale of you know what could have been for Newcastle but you know moments
02:31later they did get the goal Isak again sends through it's a fantastic little touch from Isak
02:35to get in front of Saliba he just passed it to Gordon, Gordon frees Isak and he's like off balance
02:40shoots left footed hits the post but Jacob Murphy's in the right place right time to follow home
02:46and Jacob Murphy gets another goal to his tally that's his highest scoring tally for Newcastle
02:50and Newcastle never looked back from that point you know that was um 20 minutes in they were 1-0
02:54up and that was that was really the tale of the game Arsenal looked deflated defeated uh
03:00you know they didn't look like ever really testing Newcastle too much and really ever
03:05overthrown that lead and certainly not when Anthony Gordon made it 2-0 um you know the goal
03:10came from Fabian Scheer pressing higher Fabian Scheer wins the ball off Declan Rice on the edge
03:15of the Arsenal box from a cool kick and it just shows that that little tactical change wouldn't
03:18that goal would never happen without a tactical change but it was brilliant work from Gordon
03:23sorry Scheer to find Gordon and Gordon had the simplest task to pass the ball beyond Rea even
03:28five minutes before that so just after half time he um he got to win the ball high again Gordon
03:33tries to sort of almost lob Rea from 40 yards and it goes just wide but that was the intent
03:38Newcastle showed it was the intent that showed the whole game they were absolutely brilliant
03:41and yeah what else can you say 4-0 on aggregate they've beaten Arsenal three times this season
03:46not conceded the goal you know they play four halves of football against Arsenal in three of
03:50them they've won 1-0 sorry six halves of football against Arsenal and in five of them they've won
03:551-0 with the other one being that you know the nil-nil the second half of the game here in the
03:59Premier League back in November but yeah brilliant performance from Newcastle fantastic response from
04:03the game against Fulham and another final and this time around of course it's another final
04:08and Newcastle fans will go there in their thousands and hope to see you know another win
04:13but this time more than any more than last time it won't and it shouldn't feel like a day out if
04:18you know what I mean Newcastle went out for the weekend out because it was Wembley for the first
04:21time but this time they're going to go and they're going to go to win as a time of record obviously
04:25we don't know who they're going to play whether it's Liverpool or Tottenham but whoever it is
04:28they'll fancy the chance to win you know they'll give Liverpool a really good game here
04:31um back in December they've obviously beat Tottenham twice and obviously they've got Liverpool
04:36to play in a couple weeks before potentially a meeting in the final so it's whoever it is they'll
04:40fancy the chances but right now Newcastle can reflect on a brilliant you know 90 minutes here
04:44brilliant 90 minutes at the Emirates Stadium and you know really be happy with what they've produced
04:48and yeah book the place another final it doesn't happen often although it's happened twice in three
04:52years and of course with the FA Cup to come against Birmingham on Saturday who knows what
04:56I'm lacking no doubt Eddie I will probably rest with you especially after today so who knows what
04:59will come there but yeah it's another trip to Wembley for Newcastle their fans and the team
05:04and yeah as I said this one is hopefully different this one will go with expectation of winning
05:07and you've got to remember in this cup run they beat Nottingham Forest okay they got a draw against
05:11Wimbledon but they beat Wimbledon they beat Chelsea and they beat Brentford and they beat
05:15Arsenal not just over two legs but twice over two legs that's a great cup run you know they're
05:20beating big teams they're not beating loads of low elite teams and getting the final on a fluke
05:24but you could argue that sort of happened last time with their draw but they're beating teams
05:29and big teams and now they've got one more game can they finally you know deliver that trophy
05:34that the fan base and everyone associated with this club is waiting for for so long
05:38and yeah it does feel different right now but the proof will be in you know a month's time when that
05:44game happens but on March 16th but right now Newcastle United can look forward to another
05:48trip to Wembley and as the stadium announcers said after the game get your hotels good get
05:52your trains good because Newcastle United are back at Wembley
