00:00 What is the difference between cosplay and a generic costume of a partygoer?
00:05 Well, certainly the interpretation. In part of the word "cosplay" there is the word "play", interpretation.
00:12 And in fact we wear costumes, characters, cartoons, video games, animated songs,
00:18 but above all we interpret them and interpret them of characteristic parts.
00:23 How important is an event like the Lucca Comics to bring to the general public the world of cartoon, manga, video game, cosplay?
00:32 But in reality just think how much the manifestation has grown in the course of 10 years.
00:37 More than 10 years ago, I see it also in my growth on social media, being a nerd was considered a bit of a niche.
00:45 On the contrary, today I feel very little as a character, so this obviously makes you understand that the phenomenon of the nerd and the phenomenon of the genre is becoming more and more popular.
00:58 Let's say that many years ago it was almost considered a subject, passing the terms of the nerd.
01:03 On the contrary, today it's cool, they always pass the terms.
01:07 So absolutely events like this are very important, but I think that the Lucca Comics are certainly the top 5 in the world.
01:15 In your sector you are one of the most followed in Europe. Do you think they derive a certain responsibility, especially towards the younger ones who follow you?
01:22 In reality, many of my colleagues answer "no", but I tell you "yes".
01:27 In the sense that even if I am not an educator, I feel the weight of this responsibility and to communicate to many people.
01:33 Then, quoting one of my favorite superheroes, "great powers derive great responsibility", so I feel it and how.
01:40 You are a great reader. Do you think that cosplay can make or does as a link between books, comics, manga and these other arts?
01:50 Absolutely yes, cosplay is a phenomenon of aggregation that takes very often fans of comics, manga.
01:58 For example, just look at what happens here at Lucca Comics, there are parades of cosplayers of the same comic, of the same work.
02:08 So it's a great phenomenon of aggregation that brings together many fans.
02:12 The fact that here we are even more than 300,000 fans this year, shows that there are really exorbitant numbers of fans in the sector.
02:21 What do you think is the biggest challenge for a female cosplayer in Italy?
02:28 The biggest challenge is not to focus only on the body, which is the beauty of a woman.
02:35 Very often there are characters that require a certain type of physique.
02:42 I would like to overcome all this, in the sense that any woman of any age, weight, ethnicity, religion, can play any character in freedom.
02:52 So I would say that today, for a woman, this is the real challenge.
02:56 Is there a character that you have not yet played and that you would absolutely like to play?
03:01 This is a difficult question.
03:04 I would like to do something special, something that is completely different from what I do on a physical level.
03:13 For example, a Joker, something very special in terms of makeup.
03:17 So I would say Joker.
