00:00 Welcome to Mojo Plays and today we're taking a look at the most challenging games to grace,
00:10 the PlayStation 4.
00:16 Before we begin we publish new videos all week long, so be sure to subscribe to Mojo
00:20 Plays and ring the bell to be notified about our latest videos.
00:25 Nioh
00:30 We could easily wrap this entry up by saying it's Souls-like, so of course it's hard.
00:35 However, there is more to it than that.
00:37 Yes, Nioh does hold the same level of difficulty as FromSoftware's games, but with more of
00:42 a focus on enemy variety.
00:45 Though some enemies may repeat, the mixing and matching of them can create new and interesting
00:50 challenges.
00:51 And hey, if you manage to beat this one, you do have a whole sequel to jump into immediately
00:56 after that.
00:57 And yes, it does ramp up the difficulty.
01:06 Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy
01:14 Now in all honesty, this collection of the classic Crash games remade are the easiest
01:18 games on our list.
01:20 So why put them here?
01:21 Well, it's that the platforming managed to become harder by complete accident.
01:27 Some of you may remember back when N. Sane Trilogy launched, many were questioning whether
01:31 developer Vicarious Visions somehow made the game harder intentionally, or if some of us
01:36 were starting to show our age.
01:38 Myself was among the many.
01:41 Turns out that for the remake, Crash was rendered as a rounded object, whereas the original
01:47 iterations on the PS1 were rendering Crash as a block object.
01:52 This is why N. Sane Trilogy feels like Crash is always slipping off edges, and it's also
01:57 why completing all three games was a lot tougher than before.
02:07 Dead Cells
02:16 Dead Cells is certainly a tricky action platformer.
02:20 For starters, you will need to thoroughly explore the land to increase your stats and
02:24 increase them according to the kind of build you're going for.
02:27 However, there are also rewards tied to reaching the end of one region within a set time or
02:32 defeating a certain number of enemies without taking damage.
02:36 Speedrunners and those who crave the no-damage run will find plenty of challenge here, especially
02:41 since Dead Cells has seen several expansions, including one that crosses over with Konami's
02:46 legendary Castlevania franchise.
02:49 And there's also been a couple of updates that add playable guest characters.
02:59 Wolfenstein II The New Colossus
03:08 You can absolutely play Wolfenstein II on whatever difficulty you so desire, but if,
03:13 for whatever reason, you have the raging urge to ram your head into a wall, well, crank
03:19 the difficulty up and see how long you survive.
03:23 Wolfenstein II's I Am Death Incarnate difficulty means enemies can down you in just a couple
03:28 of shots, and if you somehow beat the game on that, you can try the secret Mein Lieben
03:33 difficulty, which is perma-death mode.
03:37 No auto-saves, no manual saves, die once and you have to do the whole game from the very
03:43 beginning.
03:44 And if you're a trophy hunter, you will need to do this difficulty to get the platinum.
03:55 Enter the Gungeon
04:02 Granted the developers at Dodge Roll have balanced the game a bit more since Enter the
04:06 Gungeon initially launched.
04:08 However, this bullet hell dungeon crawler can still make a player sweat.
04:12 Of course, what else would you expect from a literal bullet hell?
04:15 Thing is that it isn't just the bullets that you'll have to worry about, you need
04:19 to make sure you're finding decent weaponry to make a balanced loadout for yourself.
04:23 Every gun functions differently than the rest, from damage output to fire rate to even the
04:28 amount of ammo it holds.
04:30 Make the most of every chamber before you move to the next, and you might be able to
04:33 finally kill your past.
04:41 Sekiro Shadows Die Twice
04:49 Look we promise that this list isn't going to be loaded with From Software titles.
04:53 Everyone knows their games are hard, it isn't news.
04:57 But Sekiro does deserve recognition because of how differently it plays than Dark Souls.
05:02 Dodge rolling isn't going to save you like it has in the past, you need to be smart in
05:06 your stealth and know how to make use of the world's verticality to your advantage.
05:11 There's more of a focus in studying the environment and knowing when to strike.
05:15 So if you haven't played Sekiro yet, don't go charging head first.
05:26 Hitman World of Assassination
05:36 Many of you may simply know these games as Hitman 2016, Hitman 2, and Hitman 3.
05:42 With all three being lumped into a single package as of January 2023, we felt it appropriate
05:47 to put them as a single entry.
05:50 Moving forward, this collection of stealth games will test your critical thinking and
05:54 planning.
05:55 You'll be given a target to eliminate every mission, but will stumble across many obstacles
05:59 preventing you from getting an easy kill.
06:01 Each level presents a variety of methods to dispatch your target too.
06:05 However, taking too long on one method might force you to improvise and deviate from your
06:10 original plan.
06:11 If you want a challenge in carrying out cunning kills, these are definitely the games to check
06:16 out.
06:22 Monster Hunter World
06:30 Have you ever tried to play a Monster Hunter game solo?
06:33 It's nearly impossible and unnecessarily elongates missions.
06:38 What about in a full party?
06:39 Easier, but not by much.
06:42 Playing Monster Hunter World with people requires everyone to understand their roles, the mechanics
06:47 of their weapons, and knowing when to jump in for attacks.
06:51 As fights go on, you're all going to have to adapt accordingly to prevent your target
06:55 from running away or unleashing a powerful attack.
06:58 And make sure no one gets lost.
07:00 Those maps can be confusing sometimes, so best to stick together.
07:12 XCOM 2
07:19 Anyone who has played XCOM 2 knows exactly why this is here.
07:23 How many times have our soldiers proved their incompetence after missing a shotgun blast
07:28 from point blank range?
07:31 Too many!
07:32 And for some reason, every soldier feels highly prone to failure regardless of the chance
07:37 of success.
07:38 To make things even more frustrating, XCOM 2 is not afraid to start shoving borderline
07:43 OP enemies within the first couple of missions.
07:46 Looking at you, mindbenders, or whatever you're called, the aliens that can take control of
07:51 your soldiers, get ready to run the gauntlet on this one.
07:55 It's gonna be a painful one.
08:00 Bloodborne
08:07 Look it was an obvious choice.
08:09 Bloodborne has long been known to be the hardest game on PlayStation 4, if not the hardest
08:13 game FromSoftware has ever put out.
08:16 The enemies hit hard, the bosses hit harder, and it's easy to get yourself killed in the
08:20 dumbest ways possible.
08:22 On top of that, the enemy variety is so uniquely diverse that no area ever feels like it's
08:28 reusing the same enemies from previous environments.
08:31 But what makes the game especially tough today?
08:33 That framerate.
08:34 Sony, dudes, when are we getting a PS5 iteration?
08:38 The 60 frames is sorely needed here.
08:40 Come on now.
