00:00 The new standard fare matrix was released in Manila City Hall for pedicabs, tricycles and e-trikes.
00:06 We have first news live, Niko Wahe. Niko.
00:10 Good morning, special trip or you're carrying a lot of things.
00:19 That's usually the reason of the tricycle drivers here in Manila,
00:23 why they are hiring massagers for the passengers.
00:28 But it is prohibited, especially since the LGU of Manila released a new fare matrix
00:34 on how much you should pay for a pedicab, tricycle and e-trike here in the city.
00:41 Every day, the nursing student, Cherry May, rides a tricycle from Paseco, Tondo to Divisoria
00:50 to ride a jeep to school.
00:52 Her system is also the same.
00:54 She has been riding a tricycle for a long time. She has experienced all kinds of pedicabs
01:00 to save on the fare.
01:01 We have a fare of P20.00 for students, but they don't say P15.00.
01:09 You are still obliged to pay P20.00.
01:12 And even if it's just four, it should be P20.00.
01:15 But if they are six, it should not be P20.00, it should be P15.00.
01:20 But they still ask for P20.00.
01:22 Fairhead.
01:24 There is a tricycle driver who is still obliged to pay.
01:27 It depends. Sometimes, if you bring a lot, they ask if it's special,
01:32 you should go straight to your house.
01:34 How much?
01:35 Sometimes, P50.00 per person.
01:38 She was even asked to pay a large amount.
01:41 I was just about to go, and I asked for P70.00.
01:47 I just gave it to them.
01:49 But in the new fare matrix issued by Manila City Hall,
01:52 there is no limit to the contract of tricycle drivers.
01:55 The base fare of tricycle and pedicab should be P16.00 for the first kilometer,
02:00 plus P5.00 for each 500 meters.
02:04 The flat rate is P20.00 for e-trikes in each route.
02:08 But according to some tricycle drivers, it's too small.
02:12 To be honest, it's small because gasoline is expensive now.
02:15 P20.00 is for one person.
02:19 To be honest, P20.00 is a big deal for us.
02:25 Because P10.00 is saved for gas and P10.00 is for food and rice.
02:31 P16.00 is a bit low because gasoline is expensive now.
02:39 But P20.00 is okay.
02:42 But they can't do anything if they don't follow the rules because the fare is more expensive if they get caught.
02:47 The fare is P1,000.00 if they get caught,
02:49 and their tricycle can possibly be impounded if they get caught again and again.
02:53 Especially if they get caught four times,
02:55 where they will be cancelled their permit and franchise.
02:58 If the tricycle drivers are too lazy,
03:06 what they should do is to get details like the body number, route, location, and name of the tricycle driver.
03:13 Second, report to the MTPB or Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau Facebook page,
03:18 MTPB TMU office, or email to TMUManila@gmail.com.
03:24 I'll just repeat the email, TMUManila@gmail.com.
03:28 Live from Manila, I'm Nico Juaje for GMA Integrated News.
