00:08 Leche flan, brownies, and cakes.

00:15 Those are just a few of the break snacks, especially during the holiday season.

00:20 But why are there so many of those?

00:22 Because the ingredients of this egg

00:24 that used to cost more than P6 to P8.50 per piece,

00:30 has now become more expensive.

00:32 In the last price monitoring of the Department of Agriculture,

00:35 the medium-sized eggs in some families in Metro Manila

00:38 have now reached P9.50.

00:41 That's why some people buy the smallest, or what they call "Pee-wee size".

00:46 But here in the labor market in Manila,

00:48 it's now worth more than P7.00 per piece.

00:53 In December, it really increased.

00:56 Almost every day.

00:58 That's why we're able to earn more than our retailers.

01:02 It's only now that some people who sell break snacks

01:05 are planning to increase their prices.

01:07 Because of that, it's possible that some people will start buying break snacks

01:10 by the end of December.

01:12 In December, we're planning to increase our leche flan.

01:16 From P60 to P70.

01:19 If we don't increase our prices,

01:22 we won't be able to earn anything.

01:23 In the leche flan, we only use egg yolks.

01:27 We use the white ones in the Brasso de Mercedes,

01:31 and in the Yema Cake.

01:32 The egg producers admitted that the price increased

01:36 because the production decreased.

01:38 But they're wondering why the retailers

01:41 have increased their prices so much.

01:44 Our average is P7.00 per piece in the medium-sized eggs,

01:48 and P7.40 in the large eggs.

01:50 But in the market, the price is P9.50 in the medium-sized eggs,

01:55 and P11.00 to P12.00 in the large eggs.

01:58 The difference is huge.

01:59 It's like a lot.

02:01 According to Agriculture Undersecretary Deo Gracias Victor Savellano,

02:05 the increase in the price of eggs is just a temporary measure.

02:08 The DA is already increasing the supply of corn in the country

02:11 that is used in chicken feed.

02:14 So if the price of chicken feed decreases,

02:17 the supply of eggs will increase,

02:18 and if there's an oversupply,

02:20 the eggs can be exported.
