00:03 - And let's get now to some college basketball here.
00:05 What a crazy upset we saw in game one
00:08 with Michigan State going down.
00:09 Maybe even crazier is the money that's going around
00:11 in college basketball here.
00:13 Bill Self, highest paid coach now in College Hoops.
00:16 We know Gilbert that, look, during the regular season,
00:21 it's hard to argue that there are, what would you say,
00:23 one or two teams better than Kansas.
00:26 They don't always win the championship.
00:28 In fact, when we get into those tournaments,
00:30 it's always like, ah, we know Kansas
00:31 is gonna lose at some point.
00:33 Let's just be honest, it's kind of the way that it goes.
00:35 But with all of the winning that Bill Self has done,
00:37 do you think that he deserves to be the highest paid coach
00:40 in basketball at the moment?
00:41 - It's hard to argue against it.
00:44 You know, you talk about a coach who's been there,
00:46 he's in his 21st season at Kansas.
00:48 He's been to the Final Four four times,
00:50 been to the championship game three times and won twice.
00:53 I know that one of those has been vacated,
00:55 but still, we know what happened in 2018.
00:57 They made it to the Final Four,
00:58 and that Kansas team was pretty impressive.
01:00 We also talk about the way that they've dominated
01:02 the Big 12 Conference during the time that he's been there.
01:05 It almost feels like every single year,
01:06 you can just pencil in Kansas as being the Big 12 champions.
01:10 So, you talk about the dominance and the way that Kansas
01:13 has just really been synonymous with excellence
01:16 in the Big 12 during Bill Self's tenure.
01:18 You're hard-pressed to find a coach that's been as dominant,
01:23 as excellent as Bill Self during his 21 seasons
01:26 at Kansas now.
01:27 He's one of the longest-tenured coaches
01:29 in college basketball as well.
01:29 I know you talk about Tom Izzo, who's another name
01:31 who could be mentioned, even though they had that upset loss
01:34 on the opening day of the season.
01:35 But, you talk about those coaches who are really one
01:38 with their programs that they lead,
01:40 it makes perfect sense that they get paid like that.
