Detroit Editor Todd Lassa takes a look at the Honda Fits soon-to-be-competition
Transcript
00:00 Ford's about to launch its new Fiesta B car.
00:10 It's built up a lot of hoodla on the internet over that car lately.
00:15 Chevrolet's entry in that segment, the B subcompact segment, has been the Aveo, a straight-to-rental
00:21 car.
00:22 For 2012, we'll be getting a new Aveo that's launching about a year from now, in early
00:27 2011.
00:28 It's not all the concept, but it's a really good preview of what the next Aveo will be
00:32 like.
00:33 Very sharp creased lines, a little bit longer, a little bit wider than the current Aveo.
00:38 The interior features a motorcycle-style cluster gauge and the dual cockpit theme that all
00:45 new Chevys have.
00:46 You see 19-inch wheels and center dual exhaust on this car.
00:51 Probably won't see that in production.
00:52 Those are the concept details, but Chevy is showing with those details that it hopes to
00:58 be a big hit with the sport compact crowd, the tuners who will add things like 19-inch
01:05 wheels and dual exhausts.
01:06 So obviously this time, Chevy plans to be a player in this segment.
01:10 It plans to compete with cars like the new Ford Fiesta.
01:13 And if it drives as good as it looks, it ought to be a competitor for that Fiesta.
