00:00 >> All right, injuries for this practice, Aaron Banks is out,
00:03 Trent Williams ankle won't practice, Ray Ray sick, won't practice.
00:08 Drake Jackson knee will be limited, everyone else full go.
00:12 >> I know Trent probably does that day on Wednesday,
00:14 do you expect him at practice tomorrow?
00:16 >> I hope so, I know he can't today though.
00:18 >> Is there anything more, I think you initially said it was a low ankle sprain.
00:23 Is there anything more going on with Trent's ankle?
00:25 >> Yeah, I think obviously there is.
00:27 I mean, just when he's got a lot of history in there with stuff, it didn't show
00:30 up as a high or anything like that, but when you've had that over your career,
00:33 there's a number of things that with how it's taken longer than expected to heal.
00:37 It's more than a low.
00:38 >> So you've talked to, sorry.
00:42 >> Sorry, go ahead, I almost talked too much.
00:44 >> [LAUGH] >> You've talked in the past about
00:47 looking at each week as a one game season,
00:49 especially in the years where you guys had started a little slower.
00:52 How important is this week to really keep that in mind?
00:55 >> I think it's important every week, but especially if you've lost three in a row,
00:58 you gotta get back to the part of that's all that ever matters.
01:00 I mean, it's always a one week season and it's not about going on a run or
01:04 anything like that.
01:05 It's about trying to beat a really good football team this week.
01:08 >> Your early impressions of Chase Bennett,
01:09 how do you see him fitting in here right away?
01:12 >> I think he's gonna jump in right away.
01:14 First time we saw him was Monday.
01:15 We had a slight small practice and we'll see him out there today really for
01:19 a real practice and hopefully he'll pick up the stuff throughout the week and
01:23 get to be out there a good bit on Sunday.
01:25 >> Your hope is to have a big role for him?
01:26 >> Yes, hope so.
01:28 >> Ask about Luter and Robert Beal, who had their practice windows open.
01:33 What's the hope for them?
01:35 I know that neither of them practiced much in the summer.
01:38 >> That they can show they can help us.
01:40 I mean, the little that they did practice this summer,
01:42 we saw two really good players we're excited to have.
01:44 They didn't get to go through a lot.
01:46 They got hurt pretty early.
01:47 But what we saw with them in college and what we saw in them in their first
01:50 practices, we're really excited to get them back.
01:52 They're healthy now, this will be their first time getting into football.
01:56 But hopefully they can get a number of practices in just so
01:58 they can get used to the NFL, how we do it.
02:00 And but they're guys that we're looking forward to being here.
02:03 >> Given that you thought they looked tired in the Bengal game,
02:07 is there anything you can do to conserve energy with this team or things like that?
02:13 >> Yeah, definitely, having a bi-week really helps.
02:16 We conserved a lot of energy.
02:18 >> Beyond that?
02:19 >> Yeah, you always do.
02:20 Once you get to the halfway point of the year,
02:21 I mean, we always change the reps up as we go.
02:23 We change up walkthroughs as we go.
02:27 Eventually we change up our full speed stuff, which is coming real soon.
02:30 So there's always an adjustment throughout the year.
02:32 Sometimes you change a week to week based off how your team is, where they're at.
02:35 But just always, it's always evolving.
02:37 >> Back to what you said about a one game season, as much as this is a veteran team
02:41 and guys understand that, when things go so well as they did for five weeks,
02:45 do you have to kind of remind everybody every week that you still have to show up
02:49 every single week?
02:50 >> Yeah, of course.
02:51 I mean, I think you get reminded that almost every week in the league.
02:53 I think we went a while without getting reminded that,
02:56 which I think it's good to get reminded.
02:58 But I always tell our guys, I mean, getting a pat on the back or
03:02 getting hated on is all the same, cuz none of it matters and both affect you.
03:07 So you need to not let those help you or
03:10 hurt you cuz they really have nothing to pertain with what we do on the field and
03:12 things like that.
03:13 So you always gotta focus whether you've won 15 in a row or
03:17 whether you've lost three in a row, nothing changes.
03:18 It's about how you play and the intent you play with and how well prepared you are.
