00:00 AEW introduced their third weekly TV show earlier this year in June in the form of Collision,
00:14 which seemed to be primarily brought about as a show for CM Punk to be featured, keeping
00:18 him away from the other members of the Elite that he had issues with.
00:21 And even with its shakier ratings to start with, it very much had a distinct personality
00:25 and brand.
00:26 His ratings have continued to be shaky though, especially following CM Punk's firing from
00:31 the company.
00:32 However, it continues to march on with no signs of stopping.
00:35 Except for when AEW schedules pay-per-views to go right against it, seemingly.
00:40 Because AEW recently announced their World's End pay-per-view on Saturday December 30th,
00:44 and Saturday you may notice, is the same day Collision takes place too.
00:48 So how will they solve this predicament?
00:50 Pre-tape Collision and have an air earlier due Collision on a different day?
00:54 Well according to Andrew Zarian, it very well may be the case that Collision simply… doesn't
00:59 happen that week, which is particularly notable considering Full Gear is set to broadcast
01:03 on Saturday September 18th, yet the Collision episode that would have aired that day is
01:07 instead set to air the day prior, on Friday September 17th.
01:11 But it seems there are no such plans for the December 30th episode.
01:15 What does this mean for the future?
01:16 It could very well just be a one-off minor blip, or could indicate a larger view of Collision
01:21 and how it's becoming more replaceable over time.
01:23 Who knows?
01:24 Meanwhile, things are looking up for NXT, as they announced they'll be moving their
01:28 broadcast to CW in October 2024, which was surprising news for many, especially surprising
01:34 perhaps for those in NWA.
01:36 As last month, Billy Corgan announced that he was going to unveil a broadcast deal for
01:40 NWA with a Top 20 Network, later reported to be CW.
01:44 But now this deal with NXT has appeared, and Fightful Select is reporting that those within
01:49 NWA were surprised by the news, with one going one further to say that they were blindsided.
01:54 However, according to the reports, negotiations between WWE and CW had been going on for months,
01:59 long before the rumours of NWA moving there too.
02:02 And of course, wrapped into this whole story is the controversy surrounding NWA as it is,
02:07 with a cocaine angle that took place reportedly souring the deal with CW.
02:11 According to House of Wrestling, that cocaine spot actually led to the WWE and CW talks
02:16 accelerating.
02:17 And that's not all, as NWA talent are also said to be growing frustrated with Billy Corgan
02:21 and his leadership following this segment, and with the CW deal seemingly falling through.
02:26 This is in addition to frustrations surrounding Corgan's reported unavailability between
02:30 tapings to discuss creative, and his reported preferential treatment of some talent over
02:35 others, and he also reportedly made talent go through tests to show their loyalty to
02:40 him and the promotion.
02:41 Well, let's get away from that craziness by talking about Vince McMahon.
02:46 Goodie!
02:47 TKO, the now merged company of WWE and UFC, recently did a filing with the SEC, where
02:53 they listed two new risk factors.
02:56 Both of them are about Vince McMahon.
02:58 Specifically, the two risk factors were, "The Special Committee of Independent Members of
03:02 WWE's Board of Directors' Investigation into Allegations of Misconduct by Mr. McMahon
03:06 and any further allegations and investigations may have an adverse financial and operational
03:12 impact on our business performance" and "Mr. McMahon's membership on our board
03:17 could have adverse financial and operational impacts on our business."
03:21 His mere existence on the board of directors could have adverse effects on the company.
03:25 You know, something tells me that this Ari Emanuel chap absolutely played Vince, but
03:31 hey, that's just my opinion.
03:34 Do you have plans to watch Survivor Series?
03:37 Well why not come and watch WWE Survivor Series live and in person with the WrestleTalk team
03:43 with over 100 other wrestling fans along with a live version of our parts-funded board game
03:49 series No Holds Bored at the Long Arm Pub and Brewery in London.
03:54 Not only will we be watching Survivor Series together, but we'll be doing our live reactions
03:58 to the show from the pub, which means you will have the chance to be on camera and part
04:03 of the WrestleTalk Live experience.
04:05 This is the best way to watch wrestling, pay-per-views and tickets are available right now.
04:10 Get your tickets today, and we'll see you there to be part of moments like this.
04:31 In about 5 minutes.
04:37 The episode had yet another MJF cold open, where he talked about J White pinning him
04:41 clean last week and - oh, wait a second, I seem to be getting a phone call.
04:46 I wonder who it could be.
04:48 Maybe it's the giant Adam Cole on the Zoom call directly behind him.
04:53 Cole advised Max to team up with Samoa Joe as he's worried about him, starting our
04:57 nightlong narrative thread of whether MJF would accept Joe's help defending the ROH
05:02 tag team titles in exchange for giving Joe another World Championship match.
05:08 A deal with the Devil, you might say.
05:19 But before then, Max is going to be a fighting babyface and take on Daniel Garcia in the
05:23 opening match.
05:24 Where Garcia is going to drop the sports entertainment and give a serious pro wrestler.
05:29 Unfortunately for him, his dancing gimmick is too over, so he did his dance while he
05:33 had MJF and his Dragon Tamer finisher, which let Max counter it into the armbar to win.
05:38 Sure, Garcia didn't become the AEW World Champion, but, like the plot of Flashdance,
05:43 no one can tell anyone whether they can and can't dance.
05:47 You did the right thing, Danny.
05:51 That's when to shake Garcia's hand afterwards, but 2.0 pulled Danny away.
05:54 Do not adjust your sets.
05:56 You are not watching Sting vs the Hollywood Blondes in WCW in 1993.
06:01 You are watching Sting vs the Outrunners in AEW.
06:05 Sting and Darby Allin easily beat the two best named wrestlers in the business right
06:09 now, Truth Magnum and Turbo Floyd.
06:12 No relation to Jack or Jake, with the Scorpion Deathlock.
06:15 Tony Schiavone conducted a pre-filmed black and white contract signing segment between
06:19 Tony Storm and Shida.
06:20 Tony's act is fun, but it doesn't feel title match worthy to me.
06:23 Later on, RJCity announced Stardom's Mariah May has become AEW's newest signee - effectively
06:29 explaining in a brief 90 second backstage interview who she is, where she's come from
06:33 and what she's here for.
06:35 Seemingly to do a Mickie James/Trish Stratus obsessed fangirl storyline with Tony Storm.
06:40 My match of the night came next, with Penta vs Swerve Strickland proving the first rule
06:45 of AEW.
06:47 It should always be Penta.
06:49 They had great back and forth action from the very start, trading topey attempts, just
06:53 your standard Canadian Destroyer on the ring apron spot, and a great finishing sequence
06:58 of Penta reversing a 450 into an arm break spot, but Swerve getting out of that to hit
07:02 a Death Valley Driver, an arm break spot of his own and the stomp for the win.
07:07 Penta should be in the same No. 1 contender's main event mix as Hangman and Swerve.
07:11 Speaking of Hangman, with Paige banned from ringside for the match, he appeared as soon
07:15 as the bell rang with a chair, wailing on Swerve, taking out two members of security
07:20 and hitting a Dead Eye off the ramp through a table off of it.
07:24 This is the intense, avenging follow-up we needed last week, off of the Swerve home invasion
07:29 angle we got the week before that.
07:31 After a very cool video promo for the Callis Family vs The Golden Jets, which sounds like
07:37 a water sports kink, the Young Bucks crashed Kenny and Jericho's backstage interview,
07:41 with Matt arguing with Chris, who actually started AEW.
07:45 Kenny set up the Golden Jets vs the Bucks at Full Gear.
07:48 Where if the Jets win, they get the Bucks' tag team title shot.
07:51 Remember that?
07:52 Because AEW seems to have forgotten until now.
07:55 And if the Bucks win, the Jets have to break up.
07:58 Kenny's frustration over Matt and Nick's behaviour was intriguing enough to stop me
08:02 thinking 'how many more Elite Breakup storylines can they do?'
08:06 I'm afraid the next match isn't suitable for vegetarians or vegans.
08:10 It's Carnivore Diet Only!
08:12 As it saw Samoa Joe defending his ROH TV title against Keith Lee.
08:18 Meat.
08:19 Meat.
08:20 Meat.
08:21 Meat.
08:22 Recalling the Limitless one of yesteryear, Lee looked in good shape and hit his impressive
08:26 leapfrog early on.
08:27 Him and Joe went back and forth in a big guy hoss fight, with the crowd chanting 'meat'
08:31 for pretty much every move.
08:32 But Lee's worked over knee gave way, letting Joe choke him out in the Coquina Clutch - the
08:36 third straight submission win of the night.
08:38 The post-match angle shockingly then saw Joe declare himself the best ROH TV Champion in
08:44 history and then vacate the belt.
08:47 Because he's hungry for the AEW World Championship.
08:51 AEW booked themselves into a bit of a corner here.
08:54 Joe no longer having the ROH midcard title does make him feel like a more credible threat
08:58 to Max's AEW World title belt.
09:01 But you wouldn't want to beat him as he gains momentum, so vacating the title there
09:05 makes sense.
09:06 But it does come with a cost.
09:08 It totally undermines ROH as a brand, its midcard title and all the guys who are going
09:13 to try and win it next.
09:14 Orange Cassidy explained how he needs to beat Moxley because his international title doesn't
09:19 feel complete.
09:20 Whereas Moxley said "as soon as they land in LA for full gear, it's gang warfare."
09:24 Hopefully that means anarchy in the arena craziness between the Best Friends and Black
09:28 Bull Combat Club around the singles match of Cassidy vs Mox.
09:32 The Guns squashed the Bollywood Boys and then got loads of heat calling the fans fat pieces
09:36 of S-Word.
09:37 It's the second hour, second quarter compulsory women's match.
09:40 Julia Hart beat Red Velvet, who was making her return after 9 months out from injury.
09:45 Hart has improved significantly, both in the performance of her goth character and her
09:48 in-ring work.
09:49 She beat Velvet relatively easily, and then had a weird non-verbal stare down with Sky
09:53 Blue for Chris Statlander to get in between them and be way taller.
09:58 And the main event saw Mark Briscoe vs Jey White, with the winner facing MJF for the
10:02 World title at full gear.
10:04 I actually thought it had already been decided.
10:07 Booking-wise, this was almost pointless.
10:10 Given Jey's amount of TV story time specifically with Max about the World title over the last
10:16 six weeks, and Mark Briscoe not being around at all, it was so obviously going to be White
10:21 who won.
10:22 It's almost as predictable as me beating Luke Owen in the Fantasy Booking Warfare semi-finals
10:27 this Saturday on partsFUNknown.
10:54 But credit to Mark, his babyface intensity made this at least fun to watch.
10:58 Jey won with a nasty straitjacket suplex, then a Blade Runner.
11:01 MJF then took out the Gang Bang Gang with his Diamond Ring afterwards, but Jey escaped.
11:06 Max cut a super babyface promo saying he's fighting for Cole and for all us fans, because
11:11 he's our scumbag.
11:14 But then the lights cut out, revealing Max's other friends the Acclaimed getting beaten
11:18 up backstage by the masked men, with Bowens getting thrown through a window.
11:23 Gee, a glass breaking spot.
11:25 I wonder who that could be.
11:27 Max ran backstage to check on them, for Samoa Joe to appear behind him and point out 'looks
11:32 like you've got no friends' and walk off doing maniacal laugh.
11:40 That was a very good cliffhanger from a neat episode throughline.
11:43 This week's Dynamite is 80%.
11:45 Now watch on to find out the 10 best AEW pay-per-view matches of all time.
11:50 (upbeat music)
