00:41 we are to week ten of the
00:43 college football season things
00:45 are heating up we're gonna get
00:46 to the college football playoff
00:48 we're gonna get to me she did
00:50 and of course we'll talk about
00:52 the games this weekend plus
00:54 it's not just football in the
00:55 big ten show we got some
00:57 basketball as well the plate is
00:59 gonna be a little bit different
01:01 but I am excited to talk the
01:03 pigskin and the orange pumpkin
01:06 smashing sport as well that's
01:08 what one of my buddies once
01:09 called it I've never forgotten
01:10 it I love that's great that's
01:12 great man that's awesome so
01:14 first let's start with the
01:15 college football playoff the
01:17 rankings came out for the second
01:19 week and the top four state
01:22 disabled Ohio State Georgia
01:24 Michigan Florida state those are
01:26 your top four teams followed by
01:28 the top six I think a lot of
01:30 people are looking at these
01:31 rankings and going where's the
01:32 chaos where could potentially we
01:34 see some craziness we're gonna
01:36 dive into that for a second but
01:38 again one through four Ohio
01:39 State Georgia Michigan Florida
01:41 state your thoughts on where
01:42 we're at right now this could be
01:45 one of the least boring college
01:47 football playing ranking years
01:48 I've ever seen and it's gonna
01:50 get even more boring because
01:51 it's all gonna play itself out
01:53 Ohio State's gonna play
01:54 Michigan unless the big ten
01:56 bands Michigan from the big ten
01:57 we're gonna see that here in a
01:59 minute Georgia they're gonna
02:00 play Alabama Texas well
02:02 Oklahoma's dropped off the face
02:03 of the earth as long as they
02:04 win Texas has got a shot it's
02:06 crazy Washington's gonna play
02:08 Oregon so a lot of this is just
02:10 gonna work itself out the really
02:11 the only conundrum I see is if
02:13 there's five power conference
02:15 champs with one loss or less
02:16 than it could be interesting or
02:19 if somehow we have three power
02:21 conference champs with one loss
02:22 or less and then we got to
02:23 figure out who that fourth
02:25 quote-unquote at-large team but
02:26 I don't think there's gonna be
02:27 much drama this year do you?
02:29 No I really don't I think you
02:32 know you mentioned some of the
02:33 potential issues that could fall
02:35 into place you know we talk
02:36 about what goes on with Ohio
02:39 State in Georgia and Michigan
02:40 and Florida State and then you
02:41 have those teams right below
02:43 them and I think at that point
02:45 you know it's it's starting to
02:48 get in a conversation of what
02:50 the chaos could be right and I
02:52 think Texas has as good a chance
02:54 as anybody if Alabama beats
02:56 Georgia because you're not gonna
02:59 probably put Alabama above
03:00 Texas I think there is a very
03:03 good chance that from the
03:05 positions that we see the things
03:08 that you just mentioned are all
03:09 potentially just gonna play
03:10 themselves out it's different
03:11 than when we have you know like
03:13 the Ohio State situation from a
03:14 year ago so I think all of that
03:16 encompassed is going to be very
03:19 interesting moving forward but
03:21 it's not where I think you know
03:22 there's going to be the absolute
03:25 chaos that a lot of college
03:26 football fans look forward to I
03:28 think there's two scenarios that
03:30 are plausible that could be
03:32 interesting I do think it's
03:33 plausible we could have a one
03:35 loss conference champ from all
03:36 five power conferences I do think
03:38 that that's very plausible the
03:39 big 12 probably the least likely
03:41 and if the Pac-12 doesn't beat
03:43 itself up but either Oregon or
03:44 Washington I think emerging
03:46 emerges as the champ with one
03:47 loss or less the other one is
03:48 this to bring up the Michigan
03:50 thing okay the NCAA is going to
03:53 take forever even if they send
03:55 something Michigan's way
03:56 Michigan doesn't have to respond
03:57 for 90 days the season is over
03:59 you and I chatted before this
04:01 college football playoff
04:02 committee wants to be the good
04:03 parent they don't want to be the
04:04 bad parent they said this is not
04:05 our problem so it's all at the
04:07 feet of the big 10 the big 10
04:08 commissioner and there's all
04:10 sorts of rumors and rumblings of
04:11 what might happen and if you
04:13 think about it it's justified
04:15 okay this isn't just a sport
04:17 this isn't just 20-year-olds
04:20 going out and playing some
04:21 backyard football game this is a
04:23 multi-billion dollar business
04:25 okay and people are more aware
04:26 of that than ever it's always
04:27 been that way but it's always
04:28 been student-athlete well sure
04:30 says the guys making hundreds of
04:33 millions of dollars promoting
04:34 the term student-athlete but
04:36 also you've got coaches who
04:38 whose livelihoods are on the
04:39 line their jobs are on the line
04:41 their raises they're getting
04:43 fired Ryan Day he's lost to
04:45 Michigan two years in a row I
04:46 can't I can't help but wonder in
04:48 his mind with all the criticism
04:50 that he has taken before the
04:51 wins against Notre Dame and Penn
04:53 State this year if he's a little
04:55 bit pissed off like hey maybe
04:56 we'd have won that and I
04:57 wouldn't be so nationally
04:58 criticized and I wouldn't be
04:59 getting all this heat my job
05:00 security be a lot better my kids
05:02 wouldn't be getting made fun of
05:03 his school I don't know if he
05:04 even has kids I digress but this
05:06 affects real-life situations not
05:08 just names and faces on a video
05:10 game that's yet to come out here
05:11 in a year or two that I have
05:12 missed four years I might add so
05:14 it's very justified that these
05:16 Big Ten coaches are pissed so
05:18 here's a scenario I'll throw out
05:20 and I don't know if this is
05:21 going to happen I do know it's
05:22 been discussed Michigan gets
05:24 banned from the Big Ten
05:25 championship game Michigan beats
05:27 Penn State this weekend Michigan
05:29 I think it's Maryland they play
05:30 after that they win that they
05:31 beat Ohio State but they can't
05:32 go to the Big Ten title game
05:33 Ohio State with one loss goes to
05:35 the Big Ten title game and Molly
05:37 whoops whoever it is that
05:38 happens to show up that day so
05:39 you got a one loss Big Ten
05:40 champion and a 12 and 0 Michigan
05:43 team sitting there that the
05:44 College Football Playoff
05:45 Committee has said this is not
05:46 our problem then what happens
05:48 that could be interesting yeah
05:50 it could be you know yesterday
05:51 Boo Corgan said the head of the
05:53 College Football Playoff
05:54 Committee that this is a
05:57 situation that is not something
05:58 the College Football Playoff
05:59 Committee is going to deal with
06:00 they are going to only assess
06:02 the teams that are eligible for
06:03 the playoff and as of now they
06:05 are Michigan has sent documents
06:07 to the Big Ten though Adam
06:08 saying Rutgers Ohio State Purdue
06:11 all were sharing signs together
06:13 the teams were sharing signs
06:15 with each other about Michigan
06:17 so I think it's going to get
06:18 messy and more messy before it
06:20 gets cleaned up I think that
06:22 there's no chance that the Big
06:24 Ten will hold Michigan out of a
06:27 title game I think the more
06:29 likely scenario is the
06:30 university gets fined I don't
06:32 even think Jim Harbaugh is going
06:33 to get suspended again I think
06:35 that the university gets fined
06:37 and potentially you have some
06:40 recruiting restrictions that's
06:43 sort of what my guess is on
06:45 this because it isn't something
06:47 stealing signs in the handbook
06:49 of sportsmanship with the Big
06:50 Ten isn't one of the most
06:52 egregious things right like it's
06:54 not something that they look at
06:55 and right or wrong that they
06:58 hold in their tier of being one
06:59 of the most egregious things
07:00 that you can do according to
07:01 their bylaws and their rules so
07:03 my guess is Harbaugh never gets
07:06 suspended and at worst one game
07:09 I think they'll fine the
07:10 university a substantial amount
07:12 of money which again doesn't
07:14 matter and then they'll move on
07:15 from there stealing signs on
07:17 game day no problem doing it
07:20 stealing signs in an illegal
07:21 way that's a gigantic but but
07:24 but Adam I think what people
07:25 think about too and the reason
07:27 this when the reason why you
07:29 can't advance scout is not for
07:31 competitive advantage it was
07:32 because of money they they put
07:34 this rule into place and I did
07:36 some research on this when this
07:37 rule was put into place a 94
07:38 whenever it was it was because
07:40 the haves had money to go out
07:42 and advance scout the have nots
07:44 did not and so they felt from a
07:46 financial standpoint they did
07:48 not have equal footing and so
07:51 they set this into place with
07:53 all the money that's there now I
07:55 think you should be able to
07:56 advance scout just like you do
07:57 in the NFL I think you should be
07:58 able to go out advance scout
08:00 just like you do for the NFL
08:02 because if you did this in the
08:03 NFL nobody if you're not taping
08:05 the practices if it's just at
08:07 the games when everybody's
08:08 playing there's no problem so I
08:10 think this may actually spark
08:12 some change man like we may see
08:14 in the power five at least where
08:16 they're able to advance scout
08:17 because everybody has enough
08:18 money to do it now it will
08:19 probably spark change but it's
08:21 it's you and I have chatted
08:22 about this with other topics
08:23 before rules rules and if you're
08:25 a coach has been following the
08:26 rules because that's what you're
08:27 supposed to do and this other
08:28 guy had and did it and he's got
08:30 a huge advantage you're going to
08:31 be pissed like dude I'm only
08:33 hearing a small teeny tiny bit
08:36 of how pissed off these coaches
08:38 are so I can only imagine how
08:39 pissed off they really are that
08:41 I'm not hearing about okay and
08:43 it's one of those things where
08:44 there's going to be headsets in
08:46 the helmets in the future
08:47 because you're going to be able
08:48 to advance scout but that's not
08:50 been the case up until now and
08:51 you can only judge based on the
08:52 rules up until now so I agree
08:54 it's probably going to create
08:55 better change I don't know that
08:57 they're going to suspend
08:58 Michigan from the Big Ten title
09:00 game I know it's been thrown
09:01 around and I just think that
09:03 would be one hell of a scenario
09:04 for the college football
09:05 playoff committee to try to
09:06 figure out I think I think also
09:08 if I'm a athletic director at
09:10 these other universities I don't
09:12 want Michigan suspended from the
09:13 Big Ten title game because that
09:15 sets a precedent for something
09:16 that wasn't like considered a
09:17 level one violation where you
09:19 can go outside the rules because
09:20 you're upset and penalize them
09:22 and that may be our university
09:24 down the road and I think
09:25 sometimes the athletic
09:26 directors look at hey if this
09:27 was us would we want to be
09:28 suspended even though our guys
09:30 didn't do it and I hope that
09:31 they wouldn't what if they did
09:32 would we want to be suspended I
09:33 think no so we'll ultimately see
09:35 what happens this is the Big Ten
09:36 show you can find us on the
09:37 Believe Podcast Network of
09:38 course you can check us out on
09:39 iTunes Spotify YouTube si.com
09:42 and 97.3 the ticket in Lincoln
09:45 you want to get to the games
09:46 this weekend oh you sounded like
09:50 you were still doing an ad read
09:52 the way you said it yes I would
09:53 love to chat some Big Ten
09:54 college football games this
09:55 weekend but that's why I was
09:56 just staring at you no that's
09:58 fine I appreciate man I know
09:59 I'm good to look at I
10:00 understand so you're beautiful
10:02 the big game is Michigan and
10:04 Penn State we're going to save
10:05 that one for last year and even
10:08 though it's the first game of
10:09 the day Indiana and Illinois
10:12 and you know you're talking
10:13 about an Illinois team that
10:14 that needs two more wins to get
10:16 bowl eligible there's six and a
10:17 half point favorites at home
10:19 what do you think about this
10:20 matchup so this is going to be a
10:23 week where I'm going to
10:24 surprise you I did the least
10:25 amount of recon on these games I
10:27 have ever done I obviously
10:28 looked at Michigan and Penn
10:29 State but dude I even messaged
10:31 you I'm like we need some extra
10:32 time for basketball because I
10:34 did a bunch of stuff on
10:35 basketball so I'm excited about
10:36 that so Indiana Illinois I just
10:39 simply wrote I have Illinois
10:41 over Indiana like I just simply
10:43 made predictions for the most
10:44 part here without a whole lot of
10:45 in-depth analysis going into
10:46 these games so I'll take
10:49 Illinois in this game I think
10:51 that they're a team at home that
10:55 can beat a lower tier team like
10:57 Indiana so I don't know about
10:59 the spread but I'll take
11:00 Illinois how about Nebraska and
11:02 Maryland man like what happened
11:04 to your Huskers last week they
11:05 had a chance to get bowl
11:06 eligible that all went the other
11:08 direction against Michigan State
11:09 now they have a chance to bounce
11:11 back against Maryland the winner
11:12 of this game becomes bowl
11:14 eligible my thoughts from the
11:15 outside looking in they're going
11:16 to have a tough time slowing
11:17 down Tonga Viola and that
11:19 passing attack but I do believe
11:21 if they can get some pressure on
11:22 him early that's going to start
11:23 to stymie some of the things that
11:25 they want to do downfield I
11:26 think Nebraska just can't turn
11:27 the football over man that seems
11:29 to be the M.O. for their success
11:31 and God man I can't wait to see
11:34 two years from now what Matt
11:35 Rule has at quarterback because
11:36 if he has a really good
11:37 quarterback I think Nebraska is
11:39 going to be a really good
11:40 football team. I concur with that
11:42 assessment one final thought on
11:43 Illinois I will say this they
11:44 have a tendency to beat teams
11:45 that they really shouldn't beat
11:46 and they should be Indiana to
11:48 begin with you look at Maryland
11:50 Nebraska I think Maryland has
11:51 not been the same team since
11:53 they they played Ohio State okay
11:55 they lost by 20 points have lost
11:57 four games in a row since and
11:58 including a loss to Illinois
11:59 including the loss to
12:00 Northwestern at home they're
12:02 giving up an average okay of
12:04 over 30 points a game in these
12:05 contests and the two teams that
12:07 are not named Illinois
12:08 Northwestern that they lost to
12:09 they give up an average of 44
12:10 points so I think Nebraska is
12:12 actually going to score a few
12:13 points this game so that'll be
12:14 nice as a Husker alum I think
12:16 what we learned about Nebraska
12:17 last week is we're still not
12:20 that good and we're definitely
12:21 not good enough to give the
12:22 other team the ball 80 million
12:24 times so I do have Nebraska
12:26 winning it's more about I think
12:28 Maryland's in a tailspin that I
12:30 really know what to expect out
12:31 of the Huskers finally let's
12:33 excuse me not finally next let's
12:35 get to Iowa and Rutgers man I
12:38 was still may win the Big Ten
12:39 and I may be right man they just
12:42 find ways to win some of the
12:43 ugliest football games you've
12:45 ever seen and speaking of ugly
12:47 football games I can't wait for
12:48 that Black Friday game when the
12:50 score is like three to two
12:51 between the Huskers and Hawkeyes
12:52 like that's going to be a high
12:53 scoring seven turnovers oh my
12:55 god 87 points so I actually have
12:58 Rutgers in this one and I have
12:59 Rutgers because it's kind of
13:01 like Nebraska you find ways to
13:03 win but eventually you're not
13:04 good enough and if you mess up
13:05 it's going to catch up to you I
13:07 think Rutgers is a good enough
13:08 team that if Iowa messes up just
13:10 a little bit which I think they
13:11 will I think Rutgers is going to
13:12 get them so I got Rutgers
13:14 pulling off the upset in Iowa
13:17 okay 14 to 13 and I was defense
13:20 gives up an average of 13.7
13:21 points per game which is why I
13:22 was Rutgers is going to get 14
13:24 and win by a point yeah both
13:25 these defenses are really good
13:26 both these defenses are top 25
13:28 you know it's really funny when
13:30 you think about this stat the
13:31 leading the leading passer
13:33 heading into this game is
13:34 Rutgers quarterback Gavin Wimsot
13:36 he has 1200 yards passing eight
13:38 touchdowns five picks in 10 in
13:40 nine games that's the leading
13:42 passer in this game I think it's
13:43 going to be low low low low low
13:45 I'll take Iowa they're a point
13:47 and a half point favorite I think
13:48 they control their destiny to the
13:50 Big Ten West but yes I have
13:52 Iowa winning this game this week
13:55 all right next let's hold on my
13:59 my screen went booey on me let
14:02 me pull it back up here so the
14:05 way that I look at some of these
14:08 other games the rest of the year
14:10 because I think a lot of people
14:11 Adam they start to go I will the
14:13 season's over not winning a Big
14:14 Ten title what are you playing
14:15 for you know this as well as
14:17 anybody how important it is to
14:18 get those extra practices for
14:20 for bowl games and to have that
14:23 camaraderie and everything that
14:24 comes along with it Minnesota
14:26 becomes bowl eligible and who
14:28 knows if PJ Fleck will be there
14:29 next year I mean they probably
14:31 will get coveted by Michigan
14:32 State but Minnesota gets another
14:34 chance to get bowl eligible if
14:36 they can beat Purdue this week I
14:37 think they will but the line has
14:39 me a little bit weary Purdue is
14:42 minus one in this game again
14:44 Minnesota run the football
14:45 Purdue try to pass it whichever
14:47 defense I think they're going to
14:48 try to pass it whichever defense
14:50 I think plays better wins the
14:51 game.
14:52 Purdue is just one of those
14:53 unpredictable teams you kind of
14:55 don't and that's how they've
14:56 always been as a program other
14:58 than when Drew Brees was there
14:59 you really had no have no idea
15:00 what to expect out of this team
15:01 year from year game to game
15:03 they're always just a wild card
15:04 you know here's what I wrote I
15:06 said Minnesota over Purdue maybe
15:09 barely that's what I wrote so
15:11 I'm with you it's going to be
15:12 close yeah I think so too
15:13 Northwestern and Wisconsin
15:14 Wisconsin minus 10 another
15:16 chance for Wisconsin get bowl
15:17 eligible Northwestern is only
15:19 two games away from becoming
15:20 bowl eligible all things
15:21 considered that's bonkers this
15:23 game up in Madison it's hard for
15:24 me to believe that Wisconsin's
15:25 physicality won't outweigh the
15:28 Northwestern Wildcats in this
15:29 one.
15:30 Upset pick of the week you got a
15:33 team in Wisconsin who looks
15:34 like this did and you got a team
15:36 in Northwestern that's fighting
15:38 scratching and clawing and this
15:39 is my upset pick of the week.
15:41 Ohio State Michigan State the
15:42 31 point spread man do they
15:44 cover the spread does Michigan
15:45 State cover the spread I think
15:46 that's the question.
15:47 Oh here's what I said Ohio State
15:49 struggles but beats Michigan
15:52 State I don't think they even
15:53 come close to covering the
15:54 spread.
15:55 31 and a half is that total
15:56 alright this is the Big Ten
15:57 show brought to you by Jacobson
15:58 Seed Company finally let's end
15:59 with that top 10 matchup number
16:01 three Michigan we've talked
16:02 about the off the field stuff
16:03 they sit there in the college
16:04 football playoff at number three
16:06 Penn State at number 10 one that
16:08 Adam and I thought earlier in
16:09 the season would potentially be
16:10 a team that would be in the
16:12 college football playoff maybe
16:13 be the best team in the Big Ten
16:14 they did not look good against
16:15 the best opponent that they
16:16 played so far in Ohio State now
16:18 they take on Michigan my
16:19 thoughts quickly on this the
16:21 spread is is five so that's
16:22 interesting number two Penn
16:25 State's gonna have to get after
16:26 JJ McCarthy you can't let that
16:28 do just chuck it around 18
16:29 touchdowns three picks on the
16:30 season and Penn State has to
16:31 have a vertical attack you know
16:33 these these quick easy passes
16:34 the high accuracy five six seven
16:36 eight yard passes are not going
16:37 to cut it against Michigan you
16:38 will not win that game so I
16:39 think they have to figure out a
16:40 vertical attack was hoping to
16:42 see that against Ohio State
16:43 we'll hope to see it here today
16:45 excuse me on Saturday against
16:46 Michigan if they want to win
16:48 man have I flip-flopped on Penn
16:50 State I tell you what I was so
16:53 high on them I had them beaten
16:54 Ohio State I had them beaten
16:56 mercy Michigan earlier this
16:57 year and they're still a very
16:59 good football team but I have
17:01 jumped the hell off that
17:02 bandwagon and I have ran the
17:04 opposite way now they're still
17:05 going to go ten and two and have
17:06 a great year but you know well a
17:09 good year a great year for Penn
17:10 State as you actually win one of
17:11 those two big games and I think
17:12 they're going to win one of
17:13 those two big games so I wrote
17:15 here Michigan is pissed because
17:17 of everything that's going on
17:18 and they could win by three
17:20 touchdowns now I do have them
17:22 winning twenty one to seven and
17:24 the only reason I think this
17:25 game could be potentially
17:26 interesting as far as who wins
17:28 and loses I don't think Penn
17:29 State's going to get ran off the
17:30 field although Michigan's pissed
17:32 and they might run them off the
17:33 field it's at Penn State and
17:35 that is a crazy atmosphere so
17:37 you never know what can happen
17:38 but I got Michigan twenty one
17:40 seven yeah I mean here's where
17:41 we're at it's Penn State beats
17:42 Michigan Michigan beats Ohio
17:43 State then we start to talk
17:44 about the nonsense that goes
17:45 along with the college football
17:47 playoff and everything that
17:48 comes with it but I think
17:49 Michigan gets this win and
17:51 probably covers the spread I
17:52 just don't think that Penn State
17:53 will be able to have that
17:54 vertical attack down the field
17:55 like we want them to if they
17:56 want to win and so that's why
17:58 I'm taking Michigan full slate
17:59 of games that one starts at 11
18:01 a.m. Central noon on Fox on the
18:03 East Coast and of course I mean
18:05 9 a.m. out there for all you on
18:07 the West Coast Big Ten show
18:08 brought to you by Jacobson
18:09 seed company as we mentioned we
18:11 don't just do football here on
18:12 the show we got basketball we'll
18:14 talk about we've talked about
18:15 some of the other things that
18:16 happened in the spring with the
18:17 tournaments and the champions
18:18 from different sports and we
18:19 have college basketball back it
18:20 all tipped off on Monday with a
18:23 full slate of games including
18:24 some Big Ten teams and women's
18:27 and men's they had a women's
18:28 game first time ever being
18:29 played in Paris that was really
18:31 cool to see between South
18:34 Carolina and Notre Dame and so
18:36 I'm excited for the basketball
18:38 season I love this overlap of
18:39 basketball during the week and
18:40 college football on the weekend
18:42 and so Adam and I have come up
18:44 with our three things that we
18:46 are excited to see play out in
18:48 men's and women's college
18:49 basketball in the Big Ten I'm
18:51 gonna let you go first Adam
18:52 what are your three well
18:53 actually I'll let you go first
18:55 because you sent me yours and
18:56 so I didn't want to obviously
18:58 copy yours oh sure man I'll
18:59 take this from Jeff's and I'll
19:01 just I'll look at this angle of
19:02 it because I thought the topics
19:03 you had for the most part were
19:05 really good one final thought
19:07 on football with Drew Aller has
19:09 not played great but he needs
19:11 some help he had no help from
19:13 his skill position guys final
19:14 thought on football now
19:15 basketball go ahead all right
19:16 man so first of all I think the
19:18 biggest story was in women's
19:19 basketball last year in the Big
19:20 Ten it was Caitlin Clark and
19:22 she was I watched this piece she
19:24 said you know she showed up on
19:26 campus in 2020 the COVID year
19:28 and so she was playing in front
19:29 of her friends and I mean her
19:31 family and then cardboard
19:32 cutouts and then the second year
19:34 in 2021 going into 2022 they
19:36 started winning some games and
19:37 by the end of the year you
19:38 couldn't get a ticket to the
19:39 game it was sold out and last
19:40 year it was just complete
19:41 bonkers right and I love how
19:44 she's embraced this rivalry with
19:45 with Angel Reese from from LSU
19:47 and and they played each other
19:49 since you know high school and
19:51 they they have a mutual respect
19:52 for each other which I think is
19:53 great it's great for the sport
19:54 by the way LSU lost already this
19:56 week which was crazy Colorado
19:57 what yeah I know well that was
19:58 wild man but you know the the
20:01 Caitlin Clark story can she live
20:02 up to the hype because she loses
20:04 Susana who is her her her her
20:06 star in the paint and so are
20:09 they going to be able to win as
20:11 many games is she can be able to
20:13 carry them as much dude all off
20:15 season every Big Ten team tried
20:16 to figure out ways to hey we're
20:18 not going to lose the Iowa
20:19 skate Clark goes for 40 right so
20:21 they're going to figure out
20:22 things here what they're going
20:23 to do that's going to be
20:25 interesting I think you know
20:27 moving forward we're going to
20:29 figure out ways to you know I
20:32 think highlight women's
20:34 basketball on a whole different
20:35 level in sports and Caitlin
20:36 Clark is one of the main reasons
20:37 why so I'm excited can she live
20:39 up to the hype I hope so I love
20:41 that women's sports is getting
20:43 more and more attention from
20:44 women's basketball to women's
20:46 volleyball I'm a pro wrestling
20:48 fan women in pro wrestling used
20:50 to just walk around and G. G.
20:52 strings and bikinis and that's
20:53 all they were viewed as and now
20:55 they're legit wrestlers and
20:56 competitors and they can Charlotte
20:59 Flair is one of the most
21:00 athletic human beings I've ever
21:02 seen I so I again I piggybacked
21:04 off yours were yours was more
21:06 specifically about Caitlin Clark
21:07 mine was more about Iowa as a
21:09 team does Iowa women's
21:10 basketball team have the depth
21:12 to get over the hump the
21:13 departures of Monica Shazano and
21:16 McKenna Warnock their second and
21:18 third leading scorers and
21:19 rebounders last year gone those
21:21 are big blows and here's the X
21:22 factor in my opinion it's not
21:24 Caitlin Clark because she can't
21:25 do it all by herself Kate Jordan
21:27 wasn't Jordan without Pippen or
21:29 without Horace Grant and then
21:30 Rodman filled in so the X factor
21:32 to me is sophomore forward Hannah
21:34 Stewart who won the Big Ten six
21:36 player of the year as a
21:37 freshman can she be a reliable
21:39 option as well if so the sky is
21:42 the limit if not it might be
21:44 tough sledding for Caitlin Clark
21:46 in her her bunch this year all
21:48 right next I want to go to men's
21:49 basketball the last time that
21:51 the the Big Ten won a national
21:53 championship was Michigan State
21:54 in two thousand isn't that crazy
21:55 all those great teams that
21:56 they've had all these all these
21:58 top ten picks that we've seen
22:00 and we haven't had a national
22:01 champion Michigan State's made
22:03 final fours but haven't won the
22:04 natty we've had some number one
22:06 seeds that have fallen is this
22:08 the year you know you can start
22:09 to look around Michigan State's
22:10 highly ranked again they lost to
22:12 James Madison already in game
22:13 number one Purdue's gonna be
22:15 there and we're gonna talk about
22:16 that in just a second but I
22:18 wonder is this the year of the
22:19 drought ending and until that
22:21 happens that's a storyline that
22:22 I always want to follow I think
22:25 that Purdue is the best
22:26 opportunity now Michigan State
22:27 brings back eighty two point
22:28 eight percent of its scoring
22:29 making it one of only six
22:30 squads to return a greater
22:31 percentage of that than Duke
22:33 they have preseason all Big Ten
22:35 guards Tyson Walker and AJ
22:38 Haygard if I could read my own
22:39 handwriting okay the programming
22:41 the program's reigning points
22:42 and assist leaders but I think
22:43 Purdue is the one that has the
22:44 best chance okay Zack Eady
22:46 alright the national player of
22:48 the year probably gonna win it
22:50 again gotta be the favorites
22:51 okay there were number one seed
22:53 last year only the second number
22:54 one seed and I'll turn my
22:55 history to lose to a sixteen
22:56 seed unfortunately they have all
22:58 five returning starters I'm
23:00 gonna say no just because the
23:02 odds are against it and Purdue
23:04 isn't typically a power in
23:05 basketball but I do think
23:07 they're gonna shock a lot of
23:08 people and they may be a number
23:09 one seed again and I think they
23:11 got to be the odds on favorite
23:12 if the Big Ten is gonna break
23:13 that drought so real quick my
23:15 number two thing was how does
23:16 conference realignment look in
23:17 the Big Ten for sports like
23:19 basketball non-football sports
23:21 USC UCLA Oregon Washington how
23:23 will the next round of
23:24 conference realignment look in
23:25 the Big Ten for sports like
23:26 basketball non-football sports
23:27 how will the next round of
23:28 conference realignment look in
23:29 the Big Ten for sports like
23:30 basketball non-football sports
23:31 like basketball and I'm just
23:32 starting to look ahead like how
23:33 is Washington gonna travel to
23:34 Piscataway and Trev Alberts the
23:35 Nebraska AD has said the next
23:36 round of realignment is going
23:37 to shock us compared to what
23:38 we've already seen so could
23:39 Miami join and then they're
23:41 going up to Seattle here in a
23:42 couple of years how does
23:43 conference realignment affect
23:45 basketball and and other
23:46 non-footballs yeah you're gonna
23:48 get some good teams to USC UCLA
23:50 Washington's been good at times
23:52 over the years Oregon can play
23:54 some good hoops man so gonna be
23:56 fun to watch there as well
23:57 finally you brought up my third
23:58 point Zach Eaddy National Player
23:59 of the Year last year think he
24:01 has the front-running chance to
24:02 do it again this year he's just
24:03 gonna get 20 and 10 plus every
24:05 single game have some blocks
24:06 etc you know the thing that I
24:08 really like about Purdue you
24:09 mentioned all the starters
24:10 coming back the the guards for
24:12 them last year were freshmen and
24:14 so oftentimes when you get to
24:15 the tournament it's about guard
24:16 play and for guard play listen
24:18 you know it is it is a tough
24:20 thing to go through the
24:21 tournament with two freshman
24:22 guards back there but they
24:23 learned a lot they can shoot the
24:24 three I think that's gonna help
24:26 out a lot spacing is gonna be
24:27 big when you have that big guy
24:28 down low so I love Purdue again
24:30 Billy Dickinson man like who
24:32 would have thought would have
24:33 been the team that that knocks
24:34 him out so I'm excited to see
24:35 what happens with Purdue this
24:36 year that's certainly one of my
24:37 my big time storylines sounds
24:39 like a book I should have read
24:40 in high school but I probably
24:41 didn't alright so I got 20
24:43 seconds wrap it up buddy alright
24:46 will you talk so much alright
24:47 no I'm just kidding how much
24:48 does Zach Eaddy returning to
24:49 college help or hurt his draft
24:51 stock clearly an NBA player
24:52 average average 20 points double
24:54 double last year may not fit in
24:56 today's NBA game though like the
24:58 NBA of the past not a perimeter
25:00 threat at all as a center 20
25:02 years ago he would have been a
25:03 perfect NBA prospect the tallest
25:05 player in the history of the
25:06 Big Ten will be one of the
25:07 heaviest players the NBA when he
25:09 goes in the draft now he's a
25:11 good shot blocker but he's
25:12 slower with his feet and some
25:14 scouts see him as a second round
25:15 pick and more of a situational
25:18 type player can he change that
25:20 perception because the- potential
25:23 two time national player the
25:24 issue be a top ten pick but he's
25:25 just. He'll be farther out than
25:27 that he would've been the number
25:28 one overall pick twenty five
25:29 years ago yeah great stuff that
25:31 was the big ten show brought to
25:32 you by Jacobson seed company
25:34 thanks for listening as another
25:35 page is turned here on the show
25:36 he's Adam Carriker I am Jeff
25:38 Turner.
25:39 I'm Geoff Turner.
