00:00 Despite crack showing in the solidarity of the ruling UNITEAM coalition in the House
00:05 as a result of the confidential funds issue and replacement of two high-profile party
00:10 leaders from key House positions, a ranking official of the coalition downplayed the status
00:16 quo.
00:17 Our Mela Lesmoras gets up to speed on the latest bills filed today and more on the split
00:22 emerging in the ruling party coalition.
00:27 Amid issues hounding the House of Representatives right now, House Majority Leader Manix Dalipe
00:32 firmly stated that the spirit of UNITEAM is still solid as ever.
00:37 We all remember how the UNITEAM was formed during the 2022 national elections for an
00:42 unbeatable presidential ticket of presidential candidate Ferdinand R. Marquez Jr. and Vice
00:47 Presidential Beto Sara Duterte.
00:50 Eventually, a majority of the ruling party coalition decided to remove the confidential
00:55 funds for the office of the Vice President and DepEd in the proposed 2024 national budget
01:00 and then reshuffle key leadership positions among the ranks.
01:04 We think UNITEAM has a lot of potential because of the positions, the various issues, especially
01:13 the confidential funds.
01:14 Well, as far as the House members are concerned belonging to the UNITEAM, we still have the
01:22 UNITEAM but we are focused in trying to accomplish even more of what is needed from the House
01:29 of Representatives.
01:30 In addition, House Majority Leader also said whatever is happening in their institution
01:34 has no relation to the 2028 national elections.
01:38 In short, there was no politicking here.
01:41 As far as the House of Representatives is concerned, we are focused in trying to pass
01:50 these legislations that would really help our country.
01:53 So we're not thinking about 2028.
01:56 Today, it was business as usual at the Batasang Pambansa.
02:00 For its part, House Committee on Housing and Urban Development discussed the bills on government's
02:05 housing programs and created a technical working group to study and work on the matter.
02:11 The budget allocation for our housing programs here in our country has been very, very meager.
02:19 And the bills being presented today is a strong indication of the support from our legislators
02:30 that there is a need to change this trend.
02:35 So we welcome and we fully support the bills presented today.
02:41 Meanwhile, House Secretary General Reginald Velasco also provided updates on measures
02:46 adopted to further strengthen House cybersecurity.
02:50 Proactively, we will be hiring a third party to help us.
02:57 Our goal is to have our own cybersecurity unit.
03:04 Yesterday during the plenary session, 12 vital House resolutions were also adopted.
03:10 Melales Moras for the nation.
