00:00 We are now joined by our performer of the day,
00:03 a former beauty queen and communication and law graduate.
00:06 So let's welcome, fresh from Puerto,
00:09 Princessa, our performer of the day, Princess Sunny.
00:13 Good morning to you all. Welcome to Rise and Shine.
00:15 Thank you.
00:15 Thank you.
00:16 There.
00:17 Hello, good morning to Rise and Shine.
00:21 Hello and thank you for having me.
00:23 Okay.
00:24 Ma'am, how did you discover your talent in singing?
00:29 I started singing at the early age of seven.
00:31 And because I sing in the sound of music, on tape,
00:36 I find that, "Oh, we sound the same."
00:40 Then I developed it early on.
00:44 I did choir.
00:45 And then by the age of 10, I started writing songs.
00:52 And then from there on, I didn't stop developing.
00:56 Okay.
00:56 Well, did you become a band?
00:58 I organized my own band.
01:01 I have a band, Princessa is the name.
01:03 And it was formed in 2007.
01:05 And I ventured into production of my own music.
01:08 What genre is Princessa Band?
01:10 Princessa, apart from the artist, Princess Sunny,
01:13 that is a acoustic.
01:14 So more on acoustic rock.
01:19 Acoustic rock.
01:20 Yes.
01:20 Okay.
01:21 Well, how do you differentiate your style in singing
01:25 as a solo singer and as a band vocalist?
01:28 Because it's different, right?
01:29 Yes, it's different.
01:30 Because when it comes to rock,
01:31 I wrote rock songs to relate to the younger generations.
01:37 However, as a solo artist and I,
01:39 as adventurers when it comes to making music,
01:43 I trade different genres of music.
01:45 So for example, when it comes to bossa, it's different.
01:47 Atake.
01:48 It's different when it comes to ballads.
01:50 It's different when it comes to Broadway.
01:53 And when it comes to choir, it's different.
01:56 So your name is really unique.
02:01 Princess Sunny.
02:02 Yeah.
02:02 Where did this name come from?
02:04 My name is really Sunny Lien.
02:06 Okay.
02:07 But I came from Puerto Princesa and I'm so proud of it.
02:10 And I make sure that my name is feminine
02:13 because I always have a male name.
02:14 Because it's Sunny.
02:15 Okay.
02:16 So Princess Sunny.
02:17 Yeah.
02:17 But it really came from the legend of Puerto Princesa
02:20 about a princess who's waiting for the right man to come
02:23 and then he didn't come.
02:24 So it's like that.
02:26 So we incorporated it in my name
02:29 so that it has a Puerto Princesa feel
02:31 at the same time, it's a princess.
02:33 Okay.
02:34 With my name.
02:34 But it really sounds artistic.
02:36 Do you also write songs and produce?
02:39 And what's one of your favorite songs that you wrote and why?
02:43 I've written a lot of songs
02:45 because I've been writing since I was 10 years old.
02:47 One of my favorites is Pampang,
02:49 which was produced by Shell.
02:52 Because this is my first champion
02:54 in an environmental songwriting contest in Malawan.
02:58 And it's my first ever experience of professional recording.
03:02 And Pampang is very deep
03:03 because it's about protecting our national territory
03:07 against any intruders.
03:12 But basically, it's about poaching.
03:14 And it's a tribute to my daddy
03:16 because he was a former BIFAR officer.
03:19 Okay.
03:19 He was a poacher in Palawan.
03:22 I came from Palawan, so that's why it's like that.
03:24 Yes, your experience is different.
03:27 And you know it.
03:29 Because you're in the West Philippines.
03:31 Yes, but it's also like a love song.
03:34 That's why.
03:35 Well, anyway, before we sing,
03:37 do you have social media accounts
03:39 where you can follow your supporters?
03:42 Yes, but before that,
03:45 we have an upcoming album, if that's okay.
03:48 Go ahead.
03:48 "Ang Labing Dalawang Himig ng Pasko"
03:50 is ready for Spotify on November 17.
03:52 Stay tuned, I'll be there.
03:54 And the rest of the Songwriters United members,
03:56 I'm very proud to be one of them.
03:58 I have Spotify, YouTube, and FB.
04:02 All of those are Princess Ani.
04:04 Just type in "Princess Ani"
04:06 so you can see my original songs
04:08 and the ones I made
04:10 in collaboration with other artists.
04:12 Okay.
04:13 Again, good luck with your singing career.
04:16 And thank you for joining us.
04:18 Good morning to you.
04:19 Thank you.
04:19 And now, ladies and gentlemen,
04:20 let's not waste any more time.
04:21 Let's listen to the second song
04:24 from Princess Ani.
04:26 Thank you.
04:26 [Music]
04:48 Kapal ng alipa
04:51 Mukha ko'y 'di maikita
04:54 Kumakapal ng ulap at mukhang uulan
04:58 Ta'y mo ang isang baglo
05:01 Ang hangat ang yabang mo
05:04 Patangam mo na ba't
05:06 Kumakaba ang puso ko
05:09 Lumalapit ka palang
05:14 Gusto ko na lumayo
05:18 Yun 'di ko magawa
05:21 Napako ng mga paa
05:23 Sa tibig mo palang
05:25 Napunahol na
05:28 Bakit ako in love sa 'yo
05:32 Mr. Fresco
05:34 'Di mga alam na nag-iexist ako
05:38 Bakit ako in love sa 'yo
05:42 Mr. Fresco
05:44 Iwan mo lang ang gwapo-gwapo mo
05:50 [Music]
05:58 I just sang
05:59 Kailan ko na darating
06:01 Makonvert na ang hinikiling
06:04 Ang Mr. Fresco'y
06:06 Maging isang Queen's Drumming
06:08 At sana nga'y malaman mo
06:11 Na may isang katulad ko
06:14 Naniniwalang
06:16 Busilak ang iyong puso
06:19 Lumalapit ka palang
06:24 Gusto ko na lumayo
06:28 Yun 'di ko magawa
06:31 Napako ng mga paa
06:33 Sa tibig mo palang
06:35 Napunahol na
06:39 Bakit ako in love sa 'yo
06:42 Mr. Fresco
06:44 'Di mga alam na nag-iexist ako
06:48 Bakit ako in love sa 'yo
06:52 Mr. Fresco
06:54 Iwan mo lang ang gwapo-gwapo mo
