00:00 He's so missed and I love that everyone loves him.
00:03 Selma Blair reflecting on the death of her close friend Matthew Perry.
00:07 He was someone that really was at, you know, we were actively friends.
00:12 You know, we were friends for 30 years, dated years ago, and he really was such a comic genius
00:20 and his writing and his love and his ability to care for his friends.
00:24 He meant so much to all of us and he loves that.
00:28 He loves being recognized, so shout out Matthew.
00:31 The actress was honored with the Daring to Disrupt Award at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards in New York City.
00:37 She tells ET why the recognition means so much to her.
00:41 This is my first time here and it's so wonderful to be honored.
00:44 I know this is incredible and in a time when we're definitely burdened with a lot of thoughts in this world,
00:50 it's nice to come out and celebrate people who want to hear each other's voices and just honoring each other.
00:55 It is such an honor to be an advocate for people with disabilities,
00:59 also because I did not relate to being disabled growing up,
01:04 even though I really was becoming increasingly disabled as I grew
01:10 and have a lot of functions that don't work in my body that you can't see.
01:15 And so to be so welcomed by the disability community when I wasn't even sure myself,
01:20 like, where's the spot for me?
01:22 Like, what? You know, it was so welcoming and so many lessons and so many teachers
01:27 of really just grace and caring and noticing what's around us.
01:30 So it's been effortless when you're supported.
01:33 So I just love being a part of it and I know I am not the voice.
01:37 I am a voice and I'm honored.
01:39 These are honoring the advocates before me in the disability community.
01:44 Judy Heumann, who died this year, who's really responsible for the coming to be of the ADA
01:49 and the Rehabilitation Acts with a lot of other people that she gathered,
01:53 the whole disability community for these sit-ins when it was made.
01:57 And she died this year and she's left so many people so much better
02:03 for having loved her and known her.
02:05 And Sinead Burke, who has a British Vogue cover with, who's such a fashionista
02:09 and has Tilting the Lens, and Andrea Levant and Keely Catwell,
02:12 these people who have agencies for performers with disabilities and speakers.
02:17 So there's so many avenues that have been a thrill to walk down.
02:21 It's been a really, really lovely journey in this second part of my life
02:27 of finding community and realizing that nothing feels as good as helping
02:31 to be a megaphone for other people when you agree with them.
02:35 Selma also gives a health update since being in remission after her MS diagnosis.
02:40 My health is good. I've been in remission since I had a bone marrow transplant.
02:46 I had to go to HSCT to stop the progression of the MS that had been
02:50 for really many, many years burning.
02:53 And so it took a while to recover, but I am feeling really much stronger now.
02:58 I'm building stamina, and it's good. Everything is good.
