00:00 everyone and we'll go ahead and open up for questions this time.
00:02 Chad.
00:03 >> Miles, it just seemed like our point of view,
00:07 you just kind of will be seeing the victory there late and
00:10 just took it upon yourself to get this one.
00:11 So pretty accurate.
00:12 >> I mean, my teammates believed in me.
00:15 I mean, they came to me down the stretch and it was my job to make big plays.
00:19 So they just instilled the confidence in me and that's what I did.
00:23 >> Ron.
00:24 >> The opening game, you guys won it with three point shooting.
00:29 Tonight, taking it to the hole, got you back in and
00:34 then you made the foul shots at the end.
00:36 Does that give you guys a lot of confidence knowing you can score any type of way if
00:41 you need to, depending on what the defense is giving you?
00:45 >> I would say for sure.
00:46 I mean, we're a great three point shooting team, but
00:49 like all good shooters, we have bad days.
00:52 And today was one of those days where you couldn't really hit anything outside of
00:55 the arc, so we had to get something inside the paint.
00:57 So it was just a good reflection on how we could do other things outside of
01:00 shooting three.
01:02 >> Kelly.
01:02 >> You guys moved the ball well, but it seemed like in the second half,
01:07 you went until I biased some plays with you.
01:09 A lot of teammates came in and tackled with a touchdown.
01:12 Just was that something, an adjustment that Coach Stoudemire made, or
01:15 was there anything particular that led to that?
01:17 >> Right, I mean, like I said earlier, my teammates and
01:19 the coaching staff believed in me to make plays down the stretch.
01:22 And that's just what happened.
01:24 I mean, we just needed to get going.
01:26 We needed a little spark to get the second half.
01:27 We kinda came out flat in the first half.
01:29 So my teammates instilled the confidence in me and the staff believed in me.
01:32 So that's what happened.
01:34 >> Chad.
01:35 >> Kyle, I mean, a win like this, it's gotta be big for you guys.
01:39 That's a good team, that's a big test.
01:40 I'm sure it'll help sort of build the confidence for you guys.
01:44 >> Yeah, like you said, I think it was a big win.
01:46 As I said, our last post game interview, we're gonna continue to grow together.
01:53 And I think wins like that, that only promotes us to have greater success towards
01:57 the end of the year when we need it the most.
01:59 >> Rob.
02:01 >> Rob, thank you.
02:03 >> 22 offensive rebounds.
02:05 I guess a lot of that was just keeping the ball alive.
02:09 Is that the way you're approaching it?
02:11 >> Yeah, I mean, that's one of our main goals coming into the game.
02:15 We have great offensive rebounds, great size, great length.
02:18 So that's one of our main points where we feel like we can hurt teams up.
02:23 >> Kyle.
02:26 >> For both of you guys, how much did it take out of you to make the run to come
02:28 back?
02:29 It seemed like it wore both teams out almost from that run.
02:34 I guess it was like 17 in the mark, you guys took the lead with about two and
02:36 a half left.
02:38 How much did that take out of both teams?
02:40 >> I mean, it took a lot, honestly.
02:42 It took a lot of willpower.
02:44 But this is what we worked for all summer.
02:46 This is what we worked for in practice.
02:48 This is what we're built for.
02:49 I mean, we're a new team, so we're trying to figure some things out right now.
02:52 But as long as we get the win, we can learn from the win.
02:55 That's what matters.
02:55 I think we've been building on this in practice,
02:59 just in terms of our conditioning and stuff like that.
03:01 So we're built for these type of moments.
03:03 So we just had to put together a good half and come out with the win.
03:07 >> Yeah, piggybacking on what Miles said, I feel like we showed a lot of grit today.
03:13 And that was big for a new team like we are to come back and get that win.
03:17 I just know we're gonna build on it,
03:19 try to start the game off with a little bit more energy.
03:22 I think we've learned our lesson.
03:23 [BLANK_AUDIO]
03:27 >> Talk a little bit about Reeves.
03:29 He's one of those guys, there's not too much focus on him.
03:32 But he was one of those guys keeping the ball alive.
03:34 And I think he had seven rebounds and he gets points the hard way.
03:38 What does he mean to the team?
03:39 >> Well, he's like a Swiss Army knife, he can do everything.
03:44 I mean, he can knock down an open three ball.
03:46 He can offensive rebound, he's a huge rebounder.
03:48 He's a jumbo wing, he can guard multiple positions.
03:51 So for us and our team, he's been huge just in terms of his energy and
03:56 how he practices.
03:57 I mean, his energy is infectious, so it rubs off on the rest of our teammates.
04:01 And we just gotta build on that in practice and just keep instilling confidence.
04:06 And we'll take those same shots and play the same way and it'll all work out.
04:09 >> Yeah, I think to piggyback on that, the biggest word I could think when I
04:13 describe Wasey, he's a winner, an ultimate winner.
04:15 He does anything to win and that's what we need on this team and
04:18 that's what we're buying into.
04:19 >> Okay.
04:21 >> For any of you guys, what did coach say that first time out?
04:26 I think it was two minutes into the half, you guys were down double digits at
04:31 that point and started slow.
04:32 What was his message to y'all?
04:33 Cuz he's not, he seems like such a chill dude and there's not very much,
04:37 but I guess kinda what was he saying?
04:38 >> He was basically saying we need to pick up our energy.
04:44 We worked too hard in our offseason within practice to come out and
04:47 have lack of energy.
04:48 Missed some shots, they come and go, but we can't never go back and
04:52 say we didn't play as hard as we possibly could.
04:54 I think that's a bad pill to swallow at night.
04:57 >> And to piggyback off that, I mean, he basically just said that,
05:00 like he said, we worked too hard.
05:01 We've been in these situations in the summer in practice, so
05:05 this is just bringing it to the game.
05:06 This is nothing, so we just gotta,
05:08 he's just basically trying to instill the confidence back into us and play hard.
05:12 >> Anything else for the guys?
05:14 Wrap up with Keith Kelly.
05:15 >> Does it make you guys feel that way?
05:18 You have two of your key guys still out, Lance and Bay, and
05:21 Ty gets in foul trouble.
05:24 Does it make you guys feel a little bit better about maybe where his team's at,
05:28 that you're able to do all this without maybe some key pieces that you thought
05:31 would be in the rotation at this point?
05:33 >> I mean, yeah, I would say we have a deep team.
05:36 I think coach says that, we know that.
05:39 But we hold ourselves to a high standard.
05:41 Even though we're a little banged up right now,
05:43 we still have that same standard, and we're gonna play up to it.
