00:00 Can you give your thoughts on the win?
00:14 Obviously it's great to win the game, that's the aim of football. We've had a few results
00:19 on the bounce where it's not gone our way. The game was a bit back and forth, but I think
00:24 we managed it well in the second half and did what we needed to do to get the three
00:28 points and to get the rhythm back. I think that's a good result to take from a strong
00:33 Hackington side.
00:34 The strikers will get a lot of the praise, but you had some big parts to play in the
00:38 game, a couple of cracking saves. It must be pleasing for you to have broken your way
00:42 into the side and put in some good performances.
00:44 Yes, playing also is my job to try and keep the ball out of the goal. They didn't take
00:50 very long to score, so that was quite disappointing. Everyone played their part in today's game,
00:55 it was a bit of a slug to get the result, but we all played our part.
00:58 It's good for you to have that competition, you've obviously had to wait a while to make
01:03 your league debut for us. It's a really good goalkeeping department that we've got here,
01:06 isn't it? With yourself, Corey, Rashan and Steve, you all work closely together and it's
01:10 good to have that competition, isn't it?
01:12 Yes, every day the standard is good. Corey's been playing, I've been disappointed to not
01:16 be playing, obviously. But each day I come in and do my best. Like today, I've got no
01:21 machines to play, I just do my best and see what happens.
01:26 You have a big part to play in this sort of system, you're receiving the ball a lot more
01:30 than a goalkeeper normally would, with lots of passes out from the back. Is that something
01:34 you thrive on?
01:35 Yes, I've always been comfortable with the ball. I've been with the squad for a while
01:41 now so I know roughly what the ethos is with the ball and without the ball. I'm comfortable
01:45 doing it.
01:47 Going back to the result, it must be a good feeling. 1-1 at half-time, what was the message
01:53 at half-time from Scott to the players? Because we came back out there and we looked really
01:56 good in that second half.
01:57 I think just acknowledging what the game needed really. I think that they came on to us well
02:02 in terms of their press and stuff like that. I think our build-up isn't what it could have
02:07 been. I think we recognised that we could have gone a little bit longer and put pressure
02:12 on their back line, which eventually... I can't remember how the goals came about, but
02:16 I think the penalty came about from that, didn't it? So I think that worked well and
02:20 we managed it well, I think.
02:23 Thank you.
02:24 You referenced it again, early goal. How hard is it to suddenly switch back on after that?
02:32 Is it quite hard to sort of that early blow?
02:35 Well, letting the goal in at any point is annoying to me and to the team. So obviously
02:41 immediately is not ideal. I think our record at home is quite strong, so I think that,
02:47 as you see, we scored three goals. I think our scoring rate is good most games. I think
02:53 we need to just keep it from going from two to three goals against, which we did. It stayed
03:00 at three-one. So in terms of that, I think we did well to keep them out again.
03:04 Yeah, and playing in front of the crowd of nearly 3,000 and that, were they getting behind
03:08 you? How much did you enjoy that?
03:10 No, it was brilliant. Obviously, I was disappointed that they switched the halves. It was kind
03:14 of strange. But now towards the end, we can really feel the Crawley fans get behind us.
03:20 I think that's what drove us to go and get the other two goals.
03:23 Yeah, and looking at this Crawley squad, how good is it from your point of view? I mean,
03:27 is that everybody's battling for positions. Obviously, you and Corey are battling for
03:31 that number one. There's lots of that throughout all the positions in the squad, isn't there?
03:34 Well, I think if you watch all the games we play in terms of all the cup games, whether
03:38 that's the Pumperjohns or the league or whatever, the standard is always really high. We played
03:43 Charlton and League One team, Exeter and someone else. But we played really well in all those
03:50 games and most of the time the sides are quite chop and change, but the ethos is the same
03:54 no matter who plays. So I think it's a great side in that respect.
03:59 Yeah, and for you, Scott Lindsay, what has he done for your game and how is he helping
04:03 you develop as a player, do you think?
04:05 Well, I think he gives every player the confidence to do what they're good at and to
04:09 play football really and everyone wants, including the goalkeepers, to play football. It's enjoyable
04:14 first and foremost and he gives us the confidence to go and do that on the pitch, which not
04:18 everyone does and everyone's really enjoying that style of play.
04:21 You've got them on today, but obviously there's a good conversation between you and Corey.
04:29 What's your relationship like with him?
04:31 Corey and I have got a great relationship. If you were to watch us, watch the sessions
04:35 day in and day out, there's good banter, there's good standards pushing each other. I think
04:42 we've got a pretty good group, better than most I reckon in the goalkeeping department
04:46 in terms of standard and Corey's a great goalkeeper. So I think you can see the way he plays is
04:53 very good. So the standard in training is very good and that can only be the best, be
04:57 good for both of us really.
04:59 Luke, as we mentioned when you were called into action, it wasn't too many times but
05:10 you made some cracking saves. How much confidence does that fill you as a goalkeeper, especially
05:15 going into a tough game next week against Barrow?
05:17 Yeah, I like to make saves, it's enjoyable to make a save. I made some saves against
05:24 Notts County which I was pleased with. So I came into this game with confidence. Obviously
05:29 they were on top but they had some pressure coming towards us in the first half so there
05:34 had to be a lot from the first minute or two minutes, whatever it was. So yeah, I just
05:40 try and take each action as it comes and then deal with the next one.
05:43 You mentioned how the game was a little bit sluggish but you still came out on top. How
05:48 crucial is it, okay, last few league games you played really well but haven't quite got
05:54 the result. It's good that it went your way today. So how crucial is it that you can just
05:59 slug or grind out a result?
06:00 Yeah, I think if you watch the start of the season we played, and we still do play, unbelievable
06:05 football. Sometimes games need different approaches and this one was one of those games and we
06:12 showed that we can do both sides of the game. When it needs an ugly-ish way to win we do
06:20 it and we kept them at bay and we managed to get the three goals we like to score three
06:25 goals and stuff like that. So yeah, we did well in that respect.
06:29 Great, cheers Vika, thank you.
