00:31 The outlook wasn't brilliant for the Mudville Nine that day.
00:34 The visitors were leading with one inning left to play.
00:37 The Mudville fans in grim and gloomy melancholy sat
00:41 until they saw that Casey was coming up to bat.
00:45 Now Casey let two strikes go by.
00:48 He didn't like their style,
00:50 but the fans all knew he'd hit the next a good lake country mile.
00:54 So now the pitcher holds the ball,
00:56 and now he lets it go,
00:58 and now the air is shattered by the wholesome Casey's blow.
01:02 [Bat sounds]
01:04 We have often heard the legend of Casey at the bat,
01:07 but have you ever heard about what happened after that?
01:10 No cheering fans were waiting as he finished his career,
01:14 just lovely Mrs. Casey with a secret for his ear.
01:19 She whispered that a baby soon would come to bless their life,
01:23 and Casey was all smiles as he hugged his pretty wife.
01:27 For now he knew he'd have a son to carry on the name
01:31 and unfurl the Casey banner in baseball's hall of fame.
01:37 Mrs. Casey's little whisper soon became a mighty shout.
01:41 I'm going to be a daddy!
01:44 And cigars were handed out.
01:48 The boys threw a baby shower for Casey's son and heir.
01:52 The gifts were baseballs, masts and gloves,
01:55 spike shoes and bats to spare.
01:59 When the painful day arrived, Tom Casey changed his tone,
02:03 and Dr. Morton knew exactly who was on the phone.
02:08 Hey, answer the phone, will ya? This is Casey.
02:11 The doctor kept his schedule, leaving Casey on the phone.
02:17 [Baby crying]
02:20 Quiet!
02:22 Then the stork made his appearance, and the doctor headed home.
02:27 Casey was so happy, there was little he could say.
02:30 He's here, he told his neighbors.
02:33 And they shouted back, "Hooray!"
02:39 Casey was so enraptured, he nearly lost his mind.
02:43 The kid was a natural, a fantastic baseball find.
02:48 [Yelps]
02:50 There was something Mrs. Casey had wanted to explain,
02:53 but old Casey wouldn't listen, so he had himself to blame.
02:58 As mother's little helper, he dressed their pride and joy,
03:02 when in the bassinet he found...
03:04 a girl!
03:06 Not a boy!
03:09 [Dramatic music]
03:12 As time went by, old Casey grew accustomed to his fate.
03:16 His life was sad, till once again, that whisper from his mate.
03:22 [Whistle]
03:24 Wah! Wah! Wah!
03:27 Then Casey screamed, "There's three!"
03:30 And into the bedroom darted.
03:32 "Three girls," said Dr. Morton, and sensibly departed.
03:37 [Whoosh]
03:39 Casey's batting average didn't show a single hit.
03:44 And finally, even Casey knew, there comes a time to quit.
03:50 Just one look at the doctor made Casey start to foam!
03:55 And then the girls would have to drag their poor old daddy home.
04:00 [Sad music]
04:05 [Crying]
04:07 The boys felt sad for Casey, till Cooney realized,
04:11 how often life's misfortunes may be blessings in disguise.
04:16 So, Flynn was sent to tell Casey what the boys had to propose.
04:20 He said, "Just see what's going on right underneath your nose.
04:24 Your girls are baseball players, and they're all right on the beam."
04:28 Casey'd raised nine daughters, a ladies baseball team!
04:33 [Dramatic music]
04:38 Now all these sudden changes brought joy to Casey's life.
04:42 He even paid the doctor, and was speaking to his wife.
04:47 The Caseyettes make changes on the quiet Mudville scene.
04:51 Nine mighty female Casies made a wondrous baseball team.
04:56 [Dramatic music]
04:58 His heart just seemed to skip the day his girls were set to play
05:03 for the female championship.
05:06 [Dramatic music]
05:08 Last call for not holes! Get your not holes here!
05:11 Casey took his usual bows on this eventful day,
05:14 but found himself outside the park as the game got underway.
05:18 [Dramatic music]
05:22 Toss it around! At 'em girl heartlets!
05:25 Come on, Casies!
05:27 [Dramatic music]
05:31 [Whistle]
05:34 [Dramatic music]

05:46 [Balloon deflating]
05:51 [Balloon deflating]
05:53 [Balloon deflating]
05:56 Casey was in a panic that this game would go astray.
06:00 The girls were full of confidence.
06:02 This was just another game.
06:04 They knew they'd win it easily, adding luster to their fame.
06:08 His girls were sure of victory.
06:10 Good luck had just occurred, with Jin on first,
06:13 Peg on second, and Jan a huggin' third.
06:16 Come on, Patsy!
06:18 The strain was breaking Casey, but Casey's girls felt great,
06:22 'cause Patsy, mighty Patsy, was advancing to the plate.
06:27 There was ease in Patsy's manner as she stepped up to her place,
06:31 while Casey's brow was furrowed.
06:34 A smile lit Patsy's face.
06:36 The pitcher, growing nervous, was aware of Patsy's fame,
06:39 but suddenly, mighty Patsy was taken from the game.
06:44 The crowd was in a dither as the girls in horror sat,
06:47 until Colleen said, "Why, it's Daddy! He's coming up to bat!"
06:52 Casey knew it wasn't cricket, but they had to win this game.
06:57 And when the first strike sailed by, he had his wig to blame.
07:02 Patsy tried to intervene, but he heeded not her plea.
07:05 The second strike found Casey overcome with modesty.
07:10 Every eye was on the ball as the pitcher let it go.
07:14 The very air was shattered by the force of Casey's blow.
07:18 The crowd went wild. They cheered and cheered.
07:22 Smiles lit up their faces. Although 'twas Patsy hit the ball,
07:27 great Casey ran the bases.
