00:00 Chris has always been like a mean stepbrother to me.
00:03 Where the jokes at?
00:04 I thought you were supposed to be the one.
00:06 Which one are you, pedo?
00:07 I never told Jada I had a crush on her.
00:09 One time I played her Stevie Wonders.
00:12 Too shy to say.
00:13 And then she played me back in Vogue's Never Gonna Get It.
00:16 [LAUGHTER]
00:18 As you can see, he's one of the most talented comedians
00:21 in the business, whose movies, TV shows, and comedy specials
00:24 always have us laughing out loud.
00:26 His newest special, Good Grief, shoots Saturday at the famed
00:29 Apollo Theater in Harlem.
00:31 Please welcome my favorite of the 95 Wayne siblings,
00:35 Marlon Wayans.
00:36 It's actually 205.
00:37 But who's telling?
00:38 Thank you.
00:39 Thank you, brother.
00:39 I'm proud to be anybody's favorite anything.
00:42 I love it.
00:42 Well, listen, let's get right into this.
00:44 We just saw a clip right there.
00:45 And this actually was shot before Jada's memoir came out.
00:49 What did you think about the new things
00:51 that she's revealed about her marriage and about the Oscars?
00:54 What's your thoughts?
00:55 Well, I mean, I haven't read the memoir yet.
00:58 I haven't-- I haven't done it.
00:59 Have you watched the interviews?
01:00 Yeah, I do this thing.
01:01 It's called my business.
01:02 [LAUGHTER]
01:03 I don't know if the world do that anymore.
01:05 Like, you know what I mean?
01:06 Like, I think my bedroom is much more interesting
01:09 than other people's bedrooms.
01:11 So I try to focus on that.
01:13 But maybe I'll give it a read.
01:14 And if I want to do a God Loves Me 2--
01:17 because I did a whole special about the slap.
01:19 But it wasn't about the slap.
01:20 It was really about why that slap happened for me.
01:24 And I talk about the journey of knowing Chris, Will, and Jada
01:27 and how sometimes things happen magically,
01:31 not to you, but for you.
01:33 It's a roast and a toast.
01:35 Because I love Chris.
01:35 I love Will.
01:36 I love Jada.
01:37 And I didn't do it to bash them.
01:40 I just did it to kind of, like, bring the light to it.
01:44 Well, everyone is also talking about Taylor Swift
01:47 and Travis Kelce.
01:48 And you actually shared your thoughts on the couple
01:50 on "Big Boy's Neighborhood."
01:51 Let's take a look.
01:52 It's like, it works.
01:54 It's just white enough--
01:57 I was going to say that.
01:58 --and just black enough.
02:00 Because he's still got some flavor left over--
02:02 Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, he does.
02:03 --from the last shit.
02:04 Yeah, man.
02:04 Kayla Nicole.
02:05 Yeah.
02:06 Oh, she was good.
02:07 Now, what I'm going to do is I'm going to go get Kayla
02:09 Nicole and have her root for me.
02:11 [LAUGHTER]
02:13 Oh, wait.
02:14 After that click, she going to kick me right out the DMs.
02:17 Get it, Jada.
02:17 Have you reached out to her?
02:19 No, I mean, she's--
02:20 I see her sometimes.
02:21 She's a great, great human.
02:22 You know her.
02:23 She's beautiful.
02:24 Like, magazine beautiful, but like, not even the makeup.
02:28 Like, just got-- like, seriously.
02:29 Oh, she's gorgeous.
02:30 Get out the pool.
02:31 She's stunning.
02:32 Looked like she had a bomb moving.
02:33 You're like, wait, where's the makeup and the hair?
02:35 Underwater.
02:36 Gorgeous.
02:37 And you know, like I said, I mean, like, you know,
02:39 sometimes as comedians, we can be insensitive, right?
02:42 So I mean, right now, all you see
02:44 is your ex-man loved up with the biggest star in the world.
02:48 So I don't want to add insult to the injury of whatever that is,
02:52 because we don't know what she's dealing with.
02:54 So you know, big hugs to her.
02:57 And you know, when they break up, girl, woo!
03:01 We gonna have a party!
03:04 We gonna have a party.
03:05 And it's gonna be at the Philadelphia Eagles Stadium.
03:08 That's when they gonna break up.
03:09 Let's do it.
03:10 And we gonna have a soup bowl party.
03:12 I'm in.
03:13 And Kayla, Nicole, I'm walking home.
03:15 No, I'm just fantasizing.
03:17 Wait, I got to ask you this.
03:19 Because Travis plays better when Taylor's in the stands.
03:22 When you do your stand up, is there a boo in the audience?
03:25 I like no boos to be in the audience.
03:27 Really?
03:28 Why?
03:28 I like to do my--
03:30 I like to be focused.
03:31 I like to be focused.
03:33 It's hard to-- stand up is like-- it's a very hard job.
03:37 You know?
03:37 I had one of my kids at one of my shows
03:40 and when they were little, and all I hear is, ee!
03:44 Like, it's the most distracting thing.
03:46 It's like, did the baby think that was funny or not?
03:48 Speaking of that taping, it's happening this weekend.
03:51 And we got to know.
03:52 It's called "Good Grief."
03:53 Yes.
03:54 What's got you saying good grief right now?
03:59 Just life, man.
04:00 I call it good grief because it's about--
04:02 I lost 57 people I loved in the last three years.
04:07 And it's how-- including my parents.
04:10 And it's how you still find smiles through darkness.
04:14 And that life, when you get to be my age, it gets really dark.
04:19 And so you've got to spend your time collecting smiles,
04:22 collecting laughs, and looking for light.
04:24 And then you know you're living and breathing.
04:26 And the thing that keeps me alive
04:27 is doing stand up and doing ridiculous jokes,
04:30 honoring people I loved.
04:33 That's just a collection of hilarity.
04:36 And it makes you feel good.
04:38 And it makes me feel good.
04:39 When I hear them laugh, it makes me feel like I'm still living.
04:43 I'm still breathing.
04:43 And it gives me strength to keep going.
04:48 And you're doing it in one of the most special places.
04:50 It's actually going to be at the Apollo Theater.
04:52 Yes.
04:53 And listen, this is iconic.
04:55 My mom and dad was born in Harlem, New York.
04:58 And my mother actually performed on the Apollo stage.
05:01 So that's why I picked Harlem to do my special.
05:05 Because you know, I'm coming-- baby boy's coming home.
05:07 I love that.
05:08 As a native New Yorker, I feel that to the core.
05:09 And we're so excited about it.
05:11 Marlon, thank you so much for stopping by.
05:12 Marlon performs at Levity Live in West Nyack, New York,
05:16 through the 9th, and Good Greek tapes this Saturday
05:19 night at the Apollo Theater with two shows at 6:30 and 9.
05:22 Get your tickets now.
05:24 (upbeat music)
05:26 you
