00:21 His name is Tubarao and I'll tell you all about his cryogenic Zoto canisters and his

00:30 Operation Deep Freeze also delivers a new map, the secret HQ of the sinister Deimos,
00:35 half hidden in a cave and appropriately named, Lair.
00:39 To help you learn this and other maps inside and out, a new type of training called Map
00:44 Run is inbound, as well as a versus AI mode to accelerate your ranked readiness by pitting
00:50 you against AI enemies that emulate real players.
00:54 You'll also want to keep an eye out for the Frag Grenade update and update your tactics

00:59 So let's get into it.
01:01 Time to dive in to Operation Deep Freeze.
01:04 Speaking of diving, the new operator is actually something of an undersea adventurer hailing
01:09 from the Azores archipelago off the coast of Portugal.
01:13 Tubarao is a defender with medium speed and health whose gadget and loadout allow him
01:18 to thrive in both roamer and anchor roles.
01:21 His MPX submachine gun offers a snappy response to any attackers he engages, while his AR-15
01:28 DMR is modified to use .50 caliber rounds.
01:32 With the P226 MK25 pistol as his sidearm and a choice of nitrocell or proximity alarm,
01:40 Tubarao can adapt his playstyle to complement the many uses of his unique Zoto canister
01:45 gadget.
01:46 Let's start with the basics.
01:48 The Zoto functions a bit like an impact grenade in that Tubarao throws it and when it hits
01:53 the surface, boom, it activates.
01:55 Instead of destroying things, however, the Zoto super-cools anything caught in its radius.
02:01 This means slowing down the movement speed of operators and disabling or pausing gadgets.
02:07 The iced out area lingers for a bit, continuing to affect anything inside it, but eventually
02:13 dissipates and everything affected resumes normal operation.
02:19 Attackers can thaw things out more quickly by destroying the Zoto canister itself with,
02:25 say, Zofia's impact rounds, Twitch or Zero's gadget lasers, or some good old-fashioned
02:31 frags or bullets.
02:34 The freezing area of effect created by the Zoto doesn't destroy gadgets or harm operators.
02:40 What it does is create a powerful window of opportunity for Tubarao and his team to destroy
02:46 gadgets or harm operators.
02:49 Slowing an operator hinders their movement and reactivity.
02:53 This has obvious benefits in most engagements, but consider deploying a Zoto against an incoming
02:58 Amaru to negate her speed advantage, or against a shield operator to sandbag them while you
03:05 outmaneuver.
03:07 Maverick is a good counter here, as he'll merely be slowed in his breach progress, but
03:13 denying a breach and helping his team hold a wall is one of Tubarao's strengths.
03:19 However, defenders need to be smart when playing off a Zoto freeze, because gadgets they deploy
03:25 in the frozen area will also be affected.
03:29 A bandit battery would activate immediately upon thawing out, but a Kaid Electra Claw
03:35 likely won't have time to engage if it unfreezes at the same time as the breaching gadget.
03:41 So be sure to place it just outside the frozen area so it has time to arm before the freezing
03:47 dissipates.
03:49 This applies to Nitro Cells as well, which is important to keep in mind, because a Zoto
03:54 canister thrown on a ceiling will freeze the floor above.
03:59 And if an operator walks on a frozen floor, their footsteps will be visible from below.
04:06 This makes a very tempting target, but a Nitro Cell won't work in the frozen area, so Tubarao
04:14 and his fellow Nitro Cell slingers will have to anticipate where their enemies will go
04:19 and throw accordingly.
04:20 But don't sleep on his roaming capabilities.
04:24 A well-placed Zoto canister will disable a claymore and allow Tubarao to apply pressure
04:30 from the attacker's flank.
04:32 A Zoto can also put the chill on Nomad's air-jab grenades.
04:36 Tubarao's gadget is versatile, and its efficacy in a variety of situations allows him to be
04:42 useful and impactful throughout the entire round.
04:46 And did I mention his AR-15 DMR shoots high-caliber bullets?
04:51 Talk about an impact.
04:55 Tubarao will be unlockable at season launch through the Premium Battle Pass and available
04:59 two weeks later for purchase with Renown or R6 credit.
05:03 But Operation Deep Freeze is bringing a bunch of free updates for all players as well, including
05:10 the new Lair map.
05:12 This is the secretive military installation, where the masked antagonist Deimos prepares
05:18 his assaults against Team Rainbow.
05:21 There's even a room on the top floor where you can see some of his previous plans.
05:26 Built into a massive cavern, Lair has numerous entry points on each floor, including a top
05:32 floor spawn point.
05:34 So defenders will have to make the most of the prep phase to prepare for aggressive entry.
05:40 There's more to come in Operation Deep Freeze, but one more thing you'll want to note as
05:44 you prepare for launch is that you'll no longer be able to cook frag grenades.
05:50 You can shorten the fuse timer a bit by bouncing them off of a surface, but you'll have to
05:55 adapt your timing and positioning if you want to keep using them to deadly effect.
06:00 As part of this update, twice as many operators will now have access to frags as Blackbeard,
06:07 IQ, Lion, Osa, and Sens are gaining them.
