00:02 - Start with your first winner of this past weekend.
00:06 - It's easy.
00:07 It's really easy.
00:07 And it's James Franklin,
00:08 the biggest winner of college football.
00:10 And let me preface this
00:11 because there is a little bit of sarcasm behind this.
00:13 Cause obviously he's a big game loser.
00:15 But in the grand scheme of things, Ben,
00:17 like how do you win in life?
00:19 It's the measure of your bank account
00:20 for how much you have to actually work
00:22 towards building that bank account.
00:23 And if you have an adoring fan base,
00:25 then no matter what happens to you,
00:27 win or lose big games,
00:29 they love you and they'll give you extensions here.
00:31 Because quite frankly,
00:32 you know where Jimbo Fisher erred here?
00:34 He's going to get a $76 million payout here
00:37 for getting fired from Texas A&M.
00:38 But Texas A&M is like,
00:39 "Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
00:41 You're the head coach here.
00:42 You're in a major conference.
00:43 We pay a lot of money.
00:44 We expect results.
00:46 And if we don't get those results, you're out of here."
00:48 When Jimbo Fisher, if he coached in Penn State,
00:50 would have another $76 million extension tacked on
00:53 because of how well the football team plays
00:54 without winning anything at any time.
00:57 He is the big winner because again, Ben,
00:59 it's not about winning national championships.
01:01 If you can walk around State College, Pennsylvania
01:04 as a king on the hill,
01:05 despite never winning a big game that anybody anticipates,
01:08 what's the expectations next year?
01:10 So in the off season,
01:11 you take a look and say to yourself,
01:12 "James Franklin, how can we improve the football team?"
01:15 He goes, "Why do we have to improve?
01:17 Every year I get a raise.
01:19 Every year we don't even have to win big games.
01:21 Heck guys, we could take a vacation
01:22 when we play Michigan, Ohio State, and sooner or later USC.
01:25 And if we lose those games, we're like,
01:26 "Hey man, it's happy valley.
01:28 Let's go down to the creamery
01:30 and have a little paterno peach and enjoy the evening here.
01:32 It's a wonderful night and happy valley."
01:34 Look at Nittany Mountain off in the background
01:36 or whatever they call it here.
01:37 James Franklin is the biggest winner at life.
01:39 And every single time he gets an extension for losing,
01:42 that's life, man.
01:43 He won the game already, Ben.
