Retaining the prior-generation (2019–2022) KTM 450 SX-F platform, the 2023 GasGas MC 450F produces some of the highest peak torque figures in its class.

--

While its two sister brands were given most of the attention among Austrian bikes for 2023 with all-new platforms for their respective full-size motocross and cross-country models, GasGas stuck with the same bikes as last year, making just a slight change to the radiator shroud graphics. With the unveiling of the MC 250F Factory Edition and MC 450F Factory Edition, it’s all but confirmed that GasGas will follow in KTM’s and Husqvarna’s footsteps next year with its motocrossers and cross-country racers. With that, 2023 is more than likely consumers’ last opportunity to purchase a new bike from a dealership that uses the same general platform (engine, suspension components, frame, and subframe) KTM used for its SX, SX-F, XC, and XC-F models from 2019 to 2022.

There are aspects that mellow the GasGas motocross and off-road competition models’ power delivery (both on the track and dyno) in stock trim such as the absence of a map/traction control switch and optional ventilated airbox cover. This is especially true for the MC 450F. The good news is those items are attainable through GasGas Technical Accessories for riders wanting a power delivery more similar to that of the prior-generation KTM 450 SX-F. With 53.0 hp and 33.9 lb.-ft. of torque on our in-house dyno, the MC 450F produces the second-most peak torque in the class but lacks lower in the rpm range, making the least horsepower and torque from 4,000 rpm to 6,500 rpm. It also ranks fourth in peak horsepower and fell one spot from last year in the final standings of Dirt Rider’s 450 Motocross Shootout.
