00:00 Nissan has often been criticised for having pretty average infotainment systems, but finally
00:04 the tide is turning and today I'm going to walk you through a detailed review of the
00:09 Nissan Qashqai infotainment system.
00:10 You're going to find a similar system in the Nissan X-Trail as well, although the Qashqai
00:15 now comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
00:17 Finally, if you do want to check out a detailed review of the infotainment system, you'll
00:21 find in the Pathfinder and the Patrol, click up here.
00:24 Otherwise, let's get stuck into it.
00:26 So it's a 7-inch screen, it's a touchscreen as well, and then there's shortcut buttons
00:31 to the sides here that you can access other parts of the menu, and then volume and also
00:36 a tuning function and zoom for the map here.
00:39 Let's start off on the home screen here.
00:40 You can see that you have three different menus there to choose from.
00:43 You can also configure what's displayed here.
00:45 You can move things around and set favourites to appear on that home screen.
00:49 We'll jump over to the map to show you the inbuilt satellite navigation system.
00:53 This is actually a big improvement over cars like the Pathfinder.
00:56 So it is a much quicker system.
00:58 It's still not amazing, but it is quicker in the sense that it transitions between screens
01:03 and it's easier to put destinations in as well.
01:05 So if I hit destination, putting in a street address, it takes a few clicks to get there,
01:10 but everything's sort of nice and quick.
01:12 So it all sort of happens fairly easily, which is great to see, and a big change from the
01:15 last generation of Nissan's infotainment system.
01:18 Off onto the other side, you've got the camera function.
01:20 So this car comes with a 360-degree camera.
01:22 Look, it's okay, but like other Nissan products, and in fact, a lot of other cars with a 360-degree
01:27 camera, the quality is just not there.
01:29 And it just seems bizarre to me that they haven't gone with a higher quality camera
01:32 here, given that it is hard to tell detail there, especially at nighttime when the lights
01:37 low.
01:38 You'll also find here the self-parking feature for parallel and also perpendicular parks
01:42 as well.
01:43 So as you're parking, you simply hit one of those buttons and it will commence that process
01:46 of parking the car on its own.
01:48 If we jump back over to the main menu, CarPlay, I'll show you what that looks like.
01:52 So, standard sort of integration here.
01:54 It's not a widescreen, but it is big enough to contain all of the information that you
01:58 need there.
01:59 Audio, this comes standard with FM, AM and DAB plus digital radio.
02:03 Now, depending on which Nissan model you're in, some vary in terms of the functionality
02:08 they have here, but generally this system is going to be very similar.
02:11 So in addition to the audio connection there, you have USB connectivity, auxiliary, you
02:15 even have a CD player that's fairly old school, but it's good to see that it's there.
02:18 You can also stream through Bluetooth, so you can have Spotify and other music streaming
02:22 functions running through there as well.
02:23 In terms of the settings, this is all just for your car menus and also customising that
02:28 home screen as I mentioned there before, but there is an interesting feature here under
02:32 Info, and that is the vehicle eco-drive report.
02:35 So this tells you what your driving is like, what it's been like in the past, which is
02:40 pretty handy information to have.
02:42 And the feature that I really like the most here is Where Am I?
02:45 So this is especially handy if you ever need to call emergency services and you're not
02:49 sure where you are.
02:50 One hit of that will give you GPS coordinates, you give that to emergency services, they'll
02:54 be able to find you.
02:55 And then in addition to that, have a look at this, we're currently attached to 16, 17
03:01 satellites.
03:02 So that's how we get our accurate position around the globe, which is really, really
03:06 cool stuff, and it shows you how advanced cars are becoming.
03:10 So that has been a detailed look at Nissan's infotainment system.
03:14 If you've got any questions, let us know in the comments section below.
03:18 You can also see a full written review of this infotainment system at carexpert.com.au.
