00:00 The Senate has left the modus of some who have received kickbacks from the DSWD.

00:05 The Senate also plans to reduce the fund for the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program or FORPIS.

00:12 It was reduced but it remains bigger than the budget this year.

00:20 The DSWD is estimating the fund for 2024.

00:25 This is what Senator Amy Marcos clarified earlier, a sponsor for the budget of the agency in the deliberation of the Senate.

00:33 The DSWD's 2023 budget is almost Php 210 billion.

00:39 The House of Representatives in the General Appropriations Bill increased the DSWD's budget

00:47 by Php 245.130 billion or Php 35.462 billion higher than the 2024 NEP.

00:57 On the other hand, the Senate decreased the agency's 2024 budget to Php 244.416 billion or a net reduction of Php 714.166 million.

01:12 According to the Senator, Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program or FORPIS is one of the far-reaching reductions in allocation for 2024.

01:22 But she clarified,

01:23 There were quite a few who had graduated or by natural circumstances became disqualified.

01:29 They no longer have minor children.

01:31 So they were removed from the list.

01:34 The DSWD's food stamps program pilot implementation was also discussed in the budget hearing.

01:40 The agency assured that not all food items can be obtained by the beneficiaries using food stamps.

01:48 There are canned goods that are not qualified.

01:53 They need to be bought fresh.

01:55 The DOD also discussed in the deliberation various modes where there are kickbacks from the DSWD's aid.
