DOLE reminds biz owners of 13th month pay mandated by law
Transcript
00:00 The 13th month pay added compensation or bonus is mandated by law and all private companies
00:05 or businesses are required to pay this entitlement to their workers.
00:10 Labor Undersecretary Benjo Benavides reminds all business owners or private company employers
00:15 each rank and file employee who puts in at least a month of work or more qualifies for
00:22 the extra month pay benefit.
00:24 To compute for the amount, add the total basic salary paid for months' work and divide
00:29 the sum by 12.
00:30 Any employer who seeks to shirk his duty to pay his or her employee the mandated 13th
00:36 month pay benefit will be held seriously into account by the Department of Labor and Employment.
00:42 "If the employer does not pay the compliance order, this is a court decision where we can
00:51 execute through the writ of execution and we can garnish their account or levy the compensation
00:59 of their property and we can give the proceeds to the workers who claim 13th month pay."
