Police officer shot dead and another injured in South Australia

A South Australian police officer has been shot dead and another has been injured at a property near the Victorian border. They were investigating an earlier incident when they were fired upon.

00:09 Police were attending a property at Senior which is near Bordertown 270km south east
00:16 of Adelaide.
00:17 They got to the property just before 11.30 last night.
00:23 They were going there to investigate an earlier disturbance.
00:27 Exactly what that disturbance was, that's not yet been made public.
00:32 When police arrived at the scene they were confronted by an armed suspect.
00:37 A police officer received a fatal gunshot wound and despite the efforts of his colleagues
00:43 and paramedics he sadly died at the scene.
00:47 Two other people were shot in the incident.
00:50 One other person was a police officer.
00:55 That person received non-life threatening injuries.
00:59 The third person who was shot was the suspect.
01:02 He has received life threatening injuries.
01:05 Both people have been flown to Adelaide for treatment.
01:09 Police say that a third officer was at the scene.
01:12 They haven't been physically injured.
01:14 Major crime detectives were attending the scene today.
01:21 The police commissioner Grant Stevens is already in Bordertown.
01:26 Bordertown is a very tight knit community.
01:30 It's home to about 3 or 4 thousand people.
