Vivek Kol, the general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Sidhi district unit in Madhya Pradesh, has resigned from the party in response to the incident where a man urinated on a tribal laborer in the district. Kol also criticized the local MLA in connection with the incident. The viral video of Pravesh Shukla urinating on tribal laborer Dashmesh Rawat caused a nationwide uproar, leading Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to invite the victim to his official residence, where he washed Rawat's feet as a gesture of atonement.
Vivek Kol informed news agency PTI that he had sent his resignation letter via email to Madhya Pradesh BJP president VD Sharma. Despite the party leadership urging him to reconsider, Kol stated that his decision to resign was final. Interestingly, Kol had previously contested the state Assembly polls unsuccessfully from the Churhat constituency on a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) ticket.
In his resignation letter, Kol criticized BJP MLA Kedarnath Shukla from Sidhi, alleging that he had been upset by Shukla's actions over the past two years, including the alleged encroachment of tribal land and other atrocities in the district. Kol claimed that the recent incident of his alleged ""representative"" urinating on a tribal man further distressed him. The BJP has denied any links between the accused, Pravesh Shukla, and Kedarnath Shukla.
Pravesh Shukla was arrested by the Madhya Pradesh Police on July 5, a day after the video surfaced. In addition to charges under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, he also faced charges under the National Security Act (NSA). Following the incident, the illegal portion of Shukla's house was reportedly demolished. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan publicly apologized to the victim and washed his feet at the Chief Minister's residence in Bhopal. The state government provided financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the victim and an additional sum of Rs 1.5 lakh for the construction of his house.

00:00 Congress has always seen the tribal community as a vote bank.
00:11 Whereas the double-engine government has worked continuously to change the lives of the tribal community.
00:25 You keep visiting Rajasthan, where the tribal community is also angry with Congress.
00:36 I have met with many tribal members from Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh in the past few years.
00:49 Everywhere, there is a fierce anger and a great enthusiasm on the BJP against Congress.
01:08 My family members, there is a strong reason for the anger of the tribal community and the trust of the tribal community on the BJP.
01:28 Until Congress was in power, the tribal communities, the backward communities, only heard of starvation.
01:42 Only the images of malnourished children were seen.
01:47 Congress leaders used to go to the slums of the poor and take photographs.
01:58 They used to take ten camera men with them.
02:02 They used to show their poverty, their poverty, their poverty.
02:12 And once the photograph of themselves was taken, they used to forget the tribal families.
02:19 This drama was done by Nana, Dadi, Pita, Saab.
02:27 The children who were not given proper care in the Congress administration, used to come to decorate the photographs of Congress leaders.
02:51 Even while saying this, I feel a lot of pain in my heart.
02:59 But it is important to tell the truth.
03:03 Could a Congress that had such a mentality ever do good to the poor and tribal communities?
03:21 Tell me with all your strength. Could they do good? Can we trust them? Is our poverty for their photographs?
03:36 With this mentality, our tribal brothers and sisters have been on the lookout for decades.
03:49 If injustice was being done to the poor tribals, India would never have been able to move forward.
04:02 Tribals are called forest dwellers.
04:07 Have you heard? Why do they call tribal people forest dwellers?
04:12 Can anyone tell me?
04:15 What is the difference between the word forest dwellers and tribal people?
