Mick Sumpter, of MKM Building Supplies, discusses the Mail-backed Christmas gift appeal
Transcript
00:00 I'm in the Burn Road branch of MKM in Burn Road and Hartlepool and I'm with Mick Sumter.
00:07 Mick, what's your position here?
00:08 Branch Director.
00:09 And you're here to launch the 23 Hartlepool Mail MKM Give a Gift appeal for children.
00:15 That's correct.
00:16 How important is it that children receive a gift on Christmas?
00:19 Well it's very important and this is the 10th year now of the Give a Gift appeal in association
00:27 with MKM and the Hartlepool Mail.
00:31 Going back over the 10 years that we've done this we're very proud to take part and we
00:35 feel it very important that we are involved in doing our best for children in Hartlepool.
00:41 So certainly the gift that you are prepared to give will certainly go to a child this
00:46 Christmas there's no doubt about that.
00:49 We accumulate something like 600-700 gifts every year and we're dealing with several
00:54 organisations in the town that come and see us, come and talk to us and take away gifts
00:59 for children within, as I've said, Hartlepool.
01:04 So it's a very important scheme that we do here and have done for a number of years as
01:13 I've said and certainly we will want to continue that year after year after year because there's
01:18 no doubt about it within Hartlepool there is a need and more now than ever and I think
01:23 I say that every year because the situation out there in the world changes all the time
01:28 but as far as we are concerned we will do our very best, our utmost to ensure that we
01:34 get as many gifts as possible and get them out there as quickly as we can to where they
01:38 need to be.
01:38 Thank you.
