00:00 To...
00:01 Elfin, the end.
00:03 Yes, thank you.
00:05 Professor?
00:06 This story takes us way down to the South Pole.
00:10 Rather than have you stand on your heads, let's turn the theater over.
00:17 There, that's better.
00:20 Two things you will find most of down here are ice...
00:24 and penguins.
00:27 It's amazing that anybody would want to live here,
00:30 but most penguins wouldn't live anywhere else.
00:33 You couldn't find better weather for fishing,
00:38 skiing,
00:40 tobogganing,
00:42 or swimming.
00:43 And there is nothing the average penguin likes better than a day at the beach.
00:50 Uh, but come on, let's meet Pablo.
00:53 He lives down at the end of Main Street.
00:56 Let's go in and see what's cooking.
00:58 Pablo could never remember having been warm enough,
01:03 and so his closest companion was Smokey Joe,
01:06 his little stove.
01:08 Between chills, Pablo had one burning desire,
01:19 to spend the rest of his life on some tropical shore.
01:22 So we see him bravely set forth for the isle of his dreams.
01:27 The other penguins turned out to give him a big send-off.
01:30 But when he gets just so far away from his stove...
01:35 See what happens?
01:40 Too bad.
01:45 Perhaps he'll give up this wild idea.
01:49 But no, he's off to another stop.
01:52 This time he's bringing a friend.
01:56 Uh-oh.
01:59 Uh-oh.
02:00 Uh-oh.
02:01 Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh!
02:05 Anyway, it was a hot idea.
02:12 Well, maybe he'll be content to stay at home.
02:18 Maybe he'll be content to stay at home this time.
02:21 But no, there he goes,
02:28 hot-footing it to the land of the sun.
02:31 By now, the farewell committee has been reduced to two.
02:37 What?
02:38 Discouraging, isn't it?
02:53 Suddenly, Pablo got one of those ideas that change a person's whole life.
03:02 A boat.
03:04 But where would he get a boat?
03:06 Just watch.
03:07 Where there's a will, there's a way, they say.
03:20 And now, the official launching.
03:31 Day after day, the south wind carried him north.
03:35 One day, a blanket of fog rolled in.
03:41 And it was so thick...
03:44 Must be near Cape Horn.
03:54 As the fog lifted,
03:58 he found himself headed straight through the Straits of Magellan
04:02 and northward along Chile's rocky coast.
04:05 One day, a storm cloud came up.
04:08 Just a little bitty old storm cloud, though.
04:12 And it just tried awful hard to have its first storm.
04:18 Didn't amount to much, though.
04:22 One day, on lookout, Pablo had a bit of a shock.
04:27 A water spout off the port bow.
04:29 But it proved to be the Juan Fernandez Islands where Robinson Crusoe once lived.
04:37 And still does, apparently.
04:39 Four bells and all's well.
04:46 According to Pablo's chart, he should be nearing Viña del Mar.
04:51 And strangely enough, that's just where he is.
04:55 He sailed past Lima, capital of Peru.
04:58 Hugging the coastline with a tenacity of purpose seldom found in a penguin.
05:03 One day, his telescope picked out a city high up on top of a mountain.
05:08 The map said it was Quito.
05:10 And it was right smack on the equator.
05:13 It wasn't as easy to cross, but with a little help from Neptune, he made it.
05:21 So, making a left turn, he followed the equator, headed for the Galapagos Islands.
05:26 Ah, that good old sun.
05:29 Pablo felt that he'd never get enough of it.
05:32 Oh, he hadn't counted on this.
05:40 Things looked pretty bad.
05:43 Help! Man the pumps! She's sprung a leak!
05:47 Pipe all hands on deck!
05:49 Do things! Get going! Take to the lifeboats!
05:51 Abandon ship! Unruffle the mizzenmast and man the poops!
05:55 Oh, don't just stand there! Get going! Swap the decks!
05:58 Help!
06:01 (hissing)
06:03 (hissing)
06:05 (hissing)
06:21 (hissing)
06:24 (hissing)
06:26 Look! What's that?
06:39 Just what he's been looking for!
06:41 Pablo has finally reached the isle of his dreams.
06:49 And so, as the warm tropical sun sinks slowly in the west,
06:54 we leave little Pablo.
06:56 A bird in paradise.
06:58 A picture of health in his new coat of tan.
07:01 He should be the happiest penguin in the world.
07:04 Only, sometimes he gets to thinking.
07:11 (laughing)
