00:08 Dr. Rob and myself put out on a weekly basis.
00:10 Dr. Rob, Nebraska made a change at quarterback.
00:13 Chubba Purdy making his first start and to be quite honest right away in the first quarter
00:17 he made his presence known against Wisconsin.
00:19 He really did and as frustrating as this game was there was some really good things that
00:24 we saw come out of it.
00:26 One of the things that I want people to kind of key on on this particular play is where
00:30 the line makes its blocking decisions and the alignment they take because what they
00:35 do you see the right tackle staying in.
00:38 They have essentially a leftward focus here.
00:42 Fedoni started up out here moved in here.
00:45 This guy stays with Fedoni on the play in coverage and what you end up seeing is basically
00:52 you've got the and I got to be honest with you I don't know if he's actually a true safety
00:57 or a corner but you've got a defensive back here who actually stays on the blitz and that's
01:02 who flushes Purdy out of the pocket.
01:04 My question is as you kind of go through the alignments and you watch this play develop
01:10 theoretically should the offensive line have stayed on these four guys and you have the
01:17 center right guard and right tackle shift out here to pick up this guy.
01:24 If they had done that you would have had a five on five.
01:28 Conversely if also if they had done that as well I don't think Purdy gets flushed out
01:34 of the pocket and you don't have the touchdown run.
01:37 And Purdy you know he's improvising here.
01:40 And he really is and you see right there.
01:42 Let's back it up just a tad.
01:43 You can back that up a little bit.
01:45 Right there is perfect.
01:46 So if you look at this right here you look at the lane he's got with the offensive line
01:52 where they've kind of because of the line stunt and the blitz that Wisconsin brings
01:56 on this play you do have a lane right here with just one guy to beat.
02:02 You see some really great athleticism from Purdy which I got to be honest with you this
02:06 is the fastest I've seen a quarterback move who's not named Martinez.
02:11 So the guy just hits the jets right there and he runs past.
02:15 I mean he's outrunning everybody on that Wisconsin defense.
02:19 Nobody gets close to him on that play and I think you've got the potential now for a
02:24 guy who I think probably has a better sense of reading defenses making those check offs
02:32 but can still run the ball.
02:33 I think it's going to be a matter of time with him because you haven't seen him get
02:36 those reps in practice.
02:38 You haven't seen him get those game reps.
02:40 But I think he's a guy that probably has the best overall skill set for the position at
02:45 least this year.
02:47 Which begs the question is Chubba Purdy the quarterback of the future?
02:50 Listen to the latest podcast presented by Bedford Sports and hear Dr. Rob's thoughts
02:54 on that as Chubba Purdy of course dealing with some injuries but showed some promise
02:59 against Wisconsin.
