The Las Vegas Raiders (5-6) lost 20-13 tonight here in Miami, to the Dolphins (7-3) and we have the complete recap.
Transcript
00:00 Hi everybody, this is Hondo Carpenter from Sports Illustrated's Fan Nation Las Vegas
00:07 Raiders Insider Podcast here at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida.
00:14 Where the Raiders just lost 20-13.
00:18 They were double dog.
00:19 I think they were down, they were, Vegas had Miami favored by 14 points.
00:26 It was a game that I told you if the Raiders were to play this game 10 times, I thought
00:30 the Miami would win 7.
00:34 It was an interesting game and we have a lot to talk about, about the game tonight.
00:38 Again, I'm here in the press box looking at the field.
00:43 Obviously green screen behind me, but no shave November, sorry.
00:47 Before we get going, I want to quickly say a couple things to all of you.
00:51 Number one, we are growing fan unbelievably fast.
00:56 So thank you for subscribing and following and being a part of all that we do.
01:00 Thank you so very much.
01:03 Second thing I want to get into though is about this game today.
01:07 There are no moral victories in the National Football League.
01:12 These are all pros, they're all paid like pros and you have a right to an anticipation
01:18 if you're a fan, my team's going to compete and fight every single week.
01:23 There are no moral victories.
01:24 I want to make that extremely clear.
01:26 The Raiders lost, but there is also the reality that goes into being analytical.
01:34 I'm not a fan.
01:37 So my job is to be analytical.
01:40 There were several things that came out today.
01:42 Now I have to be a little bit careful on some things that I say, because as you know, being
01:49 a journalist that we get access to the team and there are things that we understand that
01:53 are proprietary.
01:55 And if we were to share those things, it would hurt the Raiders.
01:59 And that's clearly not what our job is as a member of the Pro Football Writers Association.
02:05 Our job is to be pros.
02:08 But I want to share a couple of things because again, I saw people tweeting, "Aidan sucks.
02:17 We want Jimmy.
02:18 AP's terrible.
02:20 One person go back to Compton.
02:22 We need a better coach."
02:24 Whatever.
02:25 I can't, fans have a right to feel however they want.
02:28 And I will never tell a fan that you don't have a right to feel any way you want.
02:35 But if you're going to communicate to me, then I have every reason to say, I think you're
02:41 nuts.
02:42 Okay.
02:43 So people who go to extremes, I just mute them.
02:49 There were some things tonight.
02:50 Now coming into this game, I told you that I thought if they played 10 times, Miami would
02:56 win seven.
02:57 That's how I feel.
03:00 Still feel that way.
03:03 I thought tonight the Raiders had a very good game plan, but let me give you an example.
03:09 After the second drive of the Raiders, I tweeted about, if you're a fan of football, you're
03:16 enjoying what you're seeing, the play calling and the aggression.
03:19 I thought the Raiders came out, first two drives, I really liked what they did.
03:25 So as the night goes on, I probably had 50 to 100 people text me, "Oh, this tweet didn't
03:30 age well."
03:32 It certainly did.
03:35 I don't have a name like PKRD Burger King fan that lives in his mom's basement and dates
03:44 his girlfriend whose last name is .jpg.
03:48 My name's on everything.
03:49 I don't delete it.
03:52 And up to that point, I was very impressed with how things went.
03:56 Obviously, as the game went on, I made comments about, "Why not on a third down, do you not
04:03 take a shot at the end zone?"
04:04 And those types of things.
04:05 There were several things to be critical of.
04:09 And I'm not here defending myself from those people.
04:11 I could care less.
04:12 I just mute them.
04:15 The point is that there was a lot tonight that I think you would be very encouraged
04:22 with and I want to talk about some of it.
04:24 First of all, let's just talk about the defense.
04:27 Phenomenal.
04:28 Absolutely.
04:29 You just went against the best offense in the National Football League and you held
04:33 them to 20 points.
04:35 20.
04:36 With multiple interceptions that gave them great field position.
04:44 I think the Raiders defense is everything that you could hope it would be.
04:49 I'm going to quickly tell you right now, I think the Raiders' chances of a win over Kansas
04:57 City next Sunday have gone up exponentially.
05:02 This defense against the best offense in the National Football League.
05:06 And I talked to some people who are part of the organization of the Dolphins and I'll
05:10 share more about that with you in a little bit.
05:13 But the defense came out and they were spectacular.
05:18 In every area.
05:20 They made Tua look terrible.
05:23 I was down in the bowels of Hard Rock Stadium just a short time ago and heard some media
05:31 for the Dolphins talking about how bad Tua looked and I turned and said, "Do you not
05:36 think the Raiders had anything to do with that?"
05:39 One of them goes, "Never thought about that."
05:43 Hmm.
05:45 Whatever.
05:47 I thought it was a brilliant game.
05:48 Max Crosby was brilliant.
05:51 I thought Robert Spilgerane was brilliant.
05:54 I thought there was a lot of defensive tackle play that was brilliant.
06:00 There was just so many good plays.
06:02 I think everybody on the defense, not me, Marcus Peters was outstanding.
06:09 Absolutely outstanding.
06:14 Marcus Peters, again, just demonstrated that if it's any play that's going to take physicality,
06:23 he's not there and it's hurting this team.
06:29 But I've explained about it for months, going back to training camp, why he's here and that's
06:35 the reality of the situation.
06:37 He won't be here next year.
06:40 And it's the reality of bad drafting from previous regimes.
06:46 When I say previous, I mean before Josh and Dave.
06:50 It is what it is.
06:52 But I thought the defense was outstanding.
06:54 They just brought it.
06:56 There were some wrinkles tonight that Patrick Graham did.
07:00 I don't know that I would call it new, but I would call it new timing used in places
07:07 he hasn't used it before, which sometimes you don't have to invent new stuff.
07:12 If you always do something on third down, but you switch it up now and use it on second,
07:17 or if there's something you've always done when your back's to your end zone, but now
07:24 you're using it when the offense's back is to their end zone, those types of things.
07:28 I thought there was really some good stuff by the Raiders.
07:32 I don't want to get into it tonight because I have some other things.
07:34 I want to spend a lot of time on the offense.
07:37 But I thought the defense was just simply outstanding.
07:40 Simply outstanding.
07:41 I thought AJ Cole, Daniel Carlson, special teams, fantastic.
07:46 Absolutely fantastic.
07:48 And to be a very good football team, you have to be that.
07:56 You have to be great on special teams and great on defense, which this team is right
07:59 now.
08:02 And I hear a lot of people, in fact, I had several people in my Twitter say, "Okay,
08:06 I've seen enough time to blow it up and rebuild."
08:08 Okay, what do you want to rebuild?
08:09 Do you want to tweak some things in your offense?
08:12 You should, but your defense is playing outstanding and there are still places there you can upgrade
08:21 it.
08:22 Your special teams is great.
08:23 So on two of the three areas of the game of football, you're exceptional and you want
08:31 to blow it up.
08:33 Okay.
08:34 I got nothing.
08:37 Now let's go over the offense.
08:40 There were, and again, I have to be a little bit careful because it's proprietary, but
08:45 there were some things that the Raiders wanted to do in this game.
08:50 And now you need to know Vic Fangio is the defensive coordinator from Miami.
08:56 I'm so sorry, I say Miami, but several of you corrected me.
09:01 So I'm trying to say it, Miami.
09:05 Vic Fangio is the defensive coordinator for Miami and he's considered by many, one of
09:11 the best in the business.
09:15 There were several things that they did tonight that they have not done before wanting to
09:19 confuse the rookie.
09:21 They were sensational.
09:23 That was a very, that may be one of the best defensive coordinator jobs that I've seen
09:32 this year was outstanding.
09:35 And after the game, I talked to Aiden and I talked to Antonio about it.
09:39 Neither, I even talked to Max about it actually, but again, none of them wanted to make excuses
09:46 because that's not how this team rolls.
09:48 They're the new Raiders, but it was reality.
09:52 So let me give you a couple of things.
09:54 The first couple of drives, they came out and attacked.
09:56 It was really, really good.
09:59 And the Raiders had some success.
10:02 Then Fangio began to introduce some new things.
10:08 Now the problem was, is that they had game planned on what to expect from the Dolphins.
10:17 They had a very good game plan.
10:18 I'm aware of what it was, and you saw some play action tonight that I thought Aiden executed
10:25 really well, but they had made some decisions to, without stacking the box, to close Josh
10:34 in and to put pressure on Aiden.
10:38 And it wasn't stacking the box, but it was some new looks.
10:45 And the problem is Fangio's new look, excuse me, Fangio's new looks went right at some
10:57 things that the Raiders wanted to attack.
11:02 So all of a sudden now there were some things that I was looking for that, excuse me, they
11:11 weren't able to implement because of Fangio's attack.
11:16 Now that's where the game of football is all about strategy and all of that.
11:25 Here was the problem.
11:27 Now a few weeks ago, I had people loving me because I was asking the difficult questions
11:33 of the Raiders.
11:34 And then a few weeks ago, I had people hating me because I was doing it.
11:38 So what I'm about to do right now, I know it's going to get me a ton of hate, but that's
11:41 okay.
11:42 I'm fine.
11:43 I'm good with it.
11:44 I don't mind it, but my job, I'm not a fan, is to be an analytical journalist.
11:49 And so I need to explain some things to you.
11:53 Aiden didn't have the OTA mini camps working with Devante, working with Jacoby, working
12:04 with Hunter.
12:05 He was working with the third string guys.
12:08 He got some reps, but those were just more of a practice rep.
12:12 Okay, we're going to do 20 yard outs, 30 yard outs, deeps, seven, six, fives, three
12:16 yards.
12:17 I'm not three yards, but three routes, whatever.
12:22 And so what happened was, is everything that Josh McDaniels did, he was the third string
12:28 guy, which means he got little to no reps with it.
12:32 So Bo Hardegre comes in and changes the playbook to fit what Aiden does.
12:38 He basically has a three week playbook.
12:45 And so they couldn't go back to Josh's stuff and use any of that because it wasn't like
12:52 Aiden was prolific in it.
12:55 And so when Fangio's making adjustments, they can't call the new stuff in it.
12:59 So at times it looked like, man, where is the aggression?
13:03 Well, that's a great question and it's fair.
13:08 I want you to know, any of you asking that, I don't think you were unfair.
13:11 I'm trying to answer it.
13:14 It's kind of hard to switch and go to a different set of plays when you've only had three weeks.
13:23 Now you can call it an excuse, but the reality is the reality.
13:27 Had Aiden been a one all through OTAs, minicamps, and now, or even been a two, Bo could have
13:37 said, all right, we're going to go back to some things Josh did and make those adjustments.
13:41 He couldn't do that.
13:44 And for proper reasoning.
13:48 And so they did the best that they could trying to work within what Vic was allowing within
13:56 a scheme.
13:58 And still it comes down to essentially they had a chance to win the tie or win the game
14:04 on their last possession.
14:07 So I don't blame any of you for being frustrated, but there is a reason to it.
14:12 I want to explain it to you this way.
14:14 I asked a person after the game, I said, do you think it's fair of me to say you can get
14:23 mad at your high schooler for not understanding multiplication, but you don't get mad at your
14:28 first grader.
14:29 And they go, that's a perfect way to explain it.
14:33 And so with the three week playbook that they had with Aiden, and essentially if you go
14:40 watch the interview we did with Devante, you'll hear Devante talking about, it's just going
14:44 to be getting time together, getting those reps together.
14:49 There were some, I'm not going to name names cause I don't think that they would, that
14:53 he would want me to.
14:55 There was a couple of throws where Aiden threw to a spot and either a player didn't, okay,
15:00 let's just say this, Devante Adams is the best route runner in all the national football
15:06 league.
15:07 There's nobody better.
15:09 And so there was a couple of times where a guy maybe ran a route that was supposed to
15:13 be 15 yards, 18.
15:15 So the ball looks like it's coming up short.
15:20 There were some absolute bad throws, but what happens is, is when you can't, when you don't
15:25 have 700 or 500 plays in which your quarterback is prolific and you come in, let's say with
15:34 60, but the defense has a game plan that you had never seen before.
15:42 So you had no reason to think it wouldn't work.
15:44 In fact, it was a great game plan.
15:47 Hey, we've not done this.
15:49 This isn't on tape and they don't do what we're going to attack.
15:54 This is good for us.
15:57 Problem was they had a lot of it already in their game plan.
16:02 That's why Vic Fangio is one of the best.
16:05 And then they were able to quickly adjust to what the Raiders, a couple of other wrinkles
16:09 and the Raiders didn't have a lot of room to move.
16:12 That's just the reality.
16:15 You can call it an excuse if you want.
16:17 I'm sure many of you will, but excuses aren't excuses if it's reality.
16:25 Do I think Aiden O'Connell, if he had been a two since OTAs and minicamp, that would
16:34 have been the result?
16:35 I think they would have won, but it is what it is.
16:41 And there are no moral victories.
16:43 I'm not saying that there is, but it's the reality of the situation that they were unable
16:49 to because of the scope of their playbook to make the changes to deal with it.
16:59 And they tried.
17:00 Now after the game, and I encourage you to go watch the interview with AP, I thought
17:06 AP made a very difficult, but it was a good decision.
17:14 And I want to explain what it was.
17:17 He talked about, you know, we had a chance to come down a winner tie in our last possession.
17:25 And so you, maybe you say, I want him to throw more deep.
17:29 Okay.
17:30 But if you don't have the time and your offense is already missing Colton, Dylan is not a
17:37 hundred percent.
17:38 And you've got a couple of other guys who are playing banged up and they're bringing
17:43 different blitz looks from different angles and getting to Aiden.
17:52 So what do you do?
17:53 You play super conservative and try to have a chance to win it in the fourth quarter.
17:57 Again, that was not the plan.
17:59 The plan was to attack, which is what they did early.
18:03 But as changes were made and guys are getting banged up and they couldn't do some things.
18:08 Remember it's about winning.
18:10 It's about winning.
18:12 And so they knew, okay, if we can't do what we want to do, then let's keep it close and
18:18 fight for a chance.
18:20 They had it.
18:22 And this is a game that essentially no one who was realistic gave him a shot to win or,
18:28 that's not fair.
18:29 Cause I said they would win three and that's a shot, but expect it to win.
18:36 And so I think if you're a Raider fan, you would walk away from this game very encouraged.
18:44 Okay.
18:45 Your quarterback's got to play better.
18:47 A hundred percent true.
18:49 No excuses.
18:51 Every week though that he's in this system, they're adding more plays and options.
18:57 That's a big one.
18:59 Number one.
19:01 Number two, the moment's not too big for him.
19:04 Okay.
19:05 If you go back in to draft night, when they drafted Aiden, I said in my podcast, he holds
19:13 the ball too long because he got away with that at Purdue.
19:17 There were a couple of times tonight he did that, but overall he's not holding the ball
19:21 anywhere near as long as he used to.
19:24 But there were times, some of them were just pressure.
19:26 I mean, bam guys, and again, you got to go back to Vic Fangio who did some, some things
19:34 tonight that he has not done.
19:38 And so you have a banged up offensive line minus your left tackle, but other guys that
19:43 are playing her with a new look from the, from the defense with a three week rookie
19:50 quarterback in the new playbook.
19:55 And they were their last possession, a chance to either tie or win on a game that they were
20:02 essentially not supposed to win.
20:03 I mean, I told you when the schedule come out, I lost.
20:09 So I understand there are no moral victories in the NFL.
20:15 You're a five and six, which is where I predicted you to be when the season started.
20:21 You can go back and read what I wrote.
20:22 Read my podcast.
20:23 Listen to my podcast.
20:24 I'm totally accountable.
20:25 I said, right now they'd be five and six and they're five and six.
20:28 I also said they would win nine games, but I didn't think they were a playoff team.
20:33 Okay.
20:34 You just saw them.
20:35 They're playing a lot better.
20:37 I mean this team right now, if AP had been the coach at worst tonight is sitting here
20:46 at seven and four.
20:54 So again, I think there was a lot of reasons to be encouraged when Antonio got the information
21:01 of what they were doing differently, why Bo couldn't do some of the things to adjust out
21:07 of it.
21:09 He made the head coach decision.
21:10 All right, it's going to be ugly, but let's just, our defense is playing great.
21:14 Let's play with a chance to win in the fourth.
21:17 I thought that's very good coaching.
21:21 That's saying, Hey, I'm not trying to impress the media.
21:23 I'm not trying to impress the fans.
21:24 I'm just trying to get a win on the road.
21:27 And the game plan was there and the Raiders just did not have the ability to execute it
21:34 coming down a stretch.
21:35 Oh, by the way, against a very good football team, there is no shame in that.
21:46 I was actually impressed tonight and I know that'll get me killed on Twitter and I'm fine.
21:51 I don't care.
21:53 My job is to not be a fan.
21:54 My job is to tell you what I thought.
21:55 I was very impressed with the Raiders tonight.
21:58 I have always thought this defense was good.
22:04 They just held the best offense in the national football league to 20 points on their home
22:10 field.
22:14 They just made them look like a Josh McDaniels offense.
22:21 Too soon.
22:23 Sorry.
22:26 That defense.
22:27 I mean, they were all, it was physical.
22:36 That reminded me of that old Linda Ronstadt song.
22:39 I mean, was it Linda Ronstadt?
22:42 You want to get physical?
22:43 Let me hear your body talk.
22:45 I don't know.
22:46 Let me find out who wrote it.
22:47 Who sang that song?
22:47 Hey, Googles, who sang the song physical?
23:00 Olivia Newton-John.
23:01 Sorry, I said Linda Ronstadt.
23:04 Olivia Newton-John.
23:05 And man, they were physical now.
23:10 They were pounding some people.
23:14 They sent a message.
23:19 I'm going to tell you something.
23:23 I thought the Raiders would lose next week to the Chiefs.
23:28 Boy, I'm 50/50 right now.
23:32 50/50.
23:34 This Raider defense is much better.
23:36 I mean, they just playing tough.
23:39 If Marcus Peters had any physicality to him, wow.
23:46 And I think the offense is just going to get better.
23:48 The offense is what it is.
23:50 They're a third week into a rookie quarterback who is two and two at worst, two and one at
23:58 best, and they still had a chance in it against Vic Fangio.
24:05 Now, listen, I think the Chiefs defense is one of the best Chiefs defenses that we've
24:12 seen in years.
24:16 I don't think they're as good as this one, and I know they're not as good as the Jads,
24:23 regardless of what's going on with the bills.
24:26 Now, I mentioned this earlier, a lot of people sold their tickets to Chiefs fans before the
24:38 change in regimes, so I don't expect it to be a home crowd advantage.
24:43 If that's my only reasoning right now, then I'm not going with the Raiders for the win
24:48 next week.
24:49 But I think there's a lot of reasons to be encouraged.
24:52 If you're a Raider fan today, I know there are some of you that are just miserable because
24:56 of how the franchise has performed the last 20 years.
24:58 That's fine.
24:59 But I think you should absolutely be encouraged about Antonio Pierce.
25:04 He wasn't worried about style points.
25:05 He's only worried about winning.
25:07 And after the game, I'm in the locker room.
25:08 I'm telling you, the guys were, there was no anger.
25:11 I mean, there was anger at losing, but I even said to Max Crosby, you can go watch the interview.
25:17 I said, man, what a great week for it to be Kansas City.
25:19 And he said, boy, are you right?
25:22 And this team, they're encouraged, very encouraged.
25:29 They're fighting, they're scrapping.
25:30 They understand what they have in Aiden.
25:32 They get it.
25:33 He's a third week rookie, third week playbook of his playbook rookie.
25:40 They know that had they been able to get Josh to do better, but when your defense is missing
25:46 Colton Miller and you got several guys injured and you don't have a lot to go to, it is what
25:51 it is.
25:54 And you just lost by seven points when you were a double digit dog, according to Vegas
25:58 on the road to the best offense in the national football league.
26:03 And oh, by the way, you lost because of your offense, not because of theirs.
26:09 I'm sorry.
26:10 My job is to be a realist, not a fan.
26:14 And if you're a Raider and you're not encouraged, I'm sorry about that.
26:18 I understand you're frustrated.
26:20 It's been a long time and you want your team better.
26:24 Well, I think you are.
26:27 And so for me, they were better than I thought they would be today.
26:33 And I think you have a lot of reasons to be encouraged.
26:37 I think you got a lot, you got hope.
26:39 A few weeks ago, I talked about, you can't, you know, we know that this, that faith moves
26:47 mountains and you can have hope without faith, but you can't have faith without hope because
26:57 faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of what you can't see.
27:03 You now had hope and you just watched your defense against the number one offense on
27:10 the road.
27:12 And tonight, Miami is celebrating a narrow win over the Raiders.
27:24 If you don't have faith in that defense and you don't have faith in a coach that has turned
27:29 this team around and had them in a place of fighting, who was willing to say, okay, we're
27:35 going to just go for the win.
27:36 It's not going to be pretty, even though I know I'm looking for a job.
27:40 Nope.
27:41 You've got a rookie three weeks into his new playbook where it's very limited against
27:46 Vic Fangio.
27:49 Vic freaking Fangio, one of the best defensive coordinators in all the national football
27:53 league.
27:54 If you don't want to be encouraged, I can't do anything about that.
27:58 Some people just love to be miserable, but if you're fair and you're open-minded and
28:03 you're looking, trying to look at your team analytically, I think there's a ton.
28:09 You had a good game plan, but against a seasoned veteran defensive coordinator, he had a good
28:17 one and you didn't have the ability to adjust.
28:26 No moral victories.
28:27 You're five and six, which, oh, by the way, I told you months ago when the schedule came
28:32 out, you were going to be five and six right now.
28:36 I still think you're a nine win team.
28:38 I saw nothing today that makes me think this is not a nine win team.
28:44 Remember everyone wanted to get too excited when they blew out the Giants.
28:49 Well this defense is an NFL defense, a top quality NFL defense with a defensive coordinator
28:55 that can go to probably 26 or 27 teams in the NFL and they would hire them.
29:03 They got a lot.
29:04 Jaylon Ramsey looked like Jaylon Ramsey, great guy by the way.
29:10 It is what it was.
29:11 You're banged up.
29:12 It's the reality.
29:13 You haven't had a bye week.
29:16 Got one more week to scrape through before you get to a bye and get some time to heal.
29:21 But it is what it is and it was a loss, but I think a ton of reasons.
29:29 I did not see anything out of Antonio Pierce today that would make me think he cannot be
29:35 a great head coach for this franchise.
29:37 In fact, I think he showed me even more and through three games, I gave him an A. I think
29:45 he's doing a great job.
29:47 When they had to make the decision, okay, it's not going to look pretty, but we're in
29:51 it to win it.
29:52 Let's just be grinders.
29:54 Let's be old school Raiders.
29:56 Let's be tough.
29:57 It's what they were.
30:00 So complete recap from here is obviously the Raiders lost.
30:05 I think it was a tremendous performance by the defense.
30:09 I think the offense was not a tremendous performance, but when you take into the scope, I think
30:14 they had a tremendous game plan against a tremendous coordinator who also had a game
30:21 plan that you didn't know was going to go and attack you in places that you had planned
30:27 to attack from.
30:30 And he had no reason to believe that.
30:33 And yet with a limited playbook for a new quarterback, you couldn't make a lot of adjustments
30:37 and your teams hurt.
30:40 And there were some things you just could not do because you didn't have the guys physically
30:44 able to do it.
30:45 They're, you know, they're coming off something.
30:48 You're not, you're just still grinding.
30:50 You got one more week of a grind.
30:53 So again, I've ended these podcasts when you guys thought I was completely negative.
30:59 And now you're going to say I'm selling sunshine.
31:01 That's fine.
31:02 My job is just to be steady Eddie, let you be the fan, me be the analytical media guy.
31:09 Nothing from Antonio Pierce today told me that he's not ready for this job.
31:14 Nothing.
31:16 In fact, I walked away being even more impressed with Antonio Pierce.
31:21 Nothing told me this defense isn't better than we had thought.
31:29 Aiden O'Connell has to play better, but with a three week playbook, I'm going to give him
31:34 a lot of leeway, which I think is a rookie he deserves.
31:38 Someone asked me, do you think he's a long-term guy?
31:40 We don't know.
31:42 This is not the game to make that judgment.
31:46 Let's get more of the playbook into him.
31:48 He certainly has shown us glimpses of things that are really, really good.
31:52 And I think there's reason to believe he could be.
31:56 I also think there's reasons to think, okay, you got a question.
31:59 It's why we don't make that decision after three weeks.
32:04 You don't do that.
32:07 I think Bo Hardegre, because again, I had some insight into his plays.
32:14 His game plan had a good one.
32:17 He just didn't have enough there when it didn't mesh to make it work.
32:22 That's not on him.
32:25 That's not on Bo.
32:26 I thought the defense outstanding.
32:30 Marcus Peters, again, he's good cover corner, but there's a lot more to the game than just
32:38 cover corner.
32:39 I mean, I don't have the stats right in front of me.
32:40 I wish I did, but outside of when it's a passing play, it's like playing with 10 guys on the
32:49 field.
32:50 So it is what it is, but they knew that.
32:54 But still defense outstanding.
32:56 I think there are a lot of reasons.
32:58 Your special teams was fantastic.
32:59 So two of the three parts of the game, special teams and defense, you're among the best in
33:05 the league and your offense is very limited because it's a three week playbook, but they
33:12 had a very good game plan.
33:15 They weren't able to execute it.
33:17 Again, quarterback, three week playbook, a great defensive coordinator and guys banged
33:22 up and some who got banged up during the game.
33:25 So I get it.
33:26 And again, if somebody shows you my tweets saying this was really good game planning,
33:31 this is fun to watch.
33:32 I absolutely not going to delete it, but I said it after two drives and I said it.
33:38 And I think as the game go on and guys were hurt and Vic Fangio made adjustments, they
33:45 couldn't do other things.
33:46 I get it.
33:47 I stand behind that because that's my job, but I appreciate all of you.
33:52 Again, I think Raiders, you have a lot of reasons to be encouraged.
33:55 It's chief week now, it's chiefs week and look how your team's playing and they're coming
34:00 home to Allegiant again, going to watch that crowd very closely.
34:05 I think that's going to be the key to the game, but there's a lot of good things going
34:08 on.
34:09 So from all of us at sports illustrates fan nation, Las Vegas Raiders insider podcast,
