00:00 A much loved son and brother killed in a horrific attack.
00:06 Michael certainly was full of life, he was eager, he was always a son who was willing
00:10 to please.
00:11 We're going to miss him greatly unfortunately.
00:13 41 year old David Graham Young and 39 year old Edward James Hinrichson have now been
00:18 sentenced to more than 11 years in prison for the manslaughter of Michael Purse.
00:24 We're reasonably satisfied with the result of the sentence handed down by the Chief Justice.
00:29 Mr Purse was last seen at Adelaide Casino in February 2019.
00:34 The 32 year old was taken to a unit in Kilburn where he was repeatedly stomped on and punched
00:39 by Hinrichson and Young while his hands were bound and his mouth and eyes were covered
00:44 with duct tape.
00:45 A third man accused of murder allegedly choked and stabbed him before transporting his body
00:50 in Young's car which became bogged on the Adelaide plains.
00:54 South Australia's Chief Justice Chris Karakas told the Supreme Court Young concealed Mr
00:59 Purse's body the following night.
01:01 His body has never been found.
01:03 You are therefore responsible for the exacerbation of the grief and distress of Michael's family
01:09 because they've been robbed of the opportunity to properly mourn his passing.
01:13 Four years on from his death the Purse family are still hopeful they'll find their son's
01:17 remains.
01:18 That'll give us some level of closure if Michael is found.
01:23 Hopefully somebody out there on the Adelaide plains, people can have a look around and
01:26 see if there's any changes and such and bring Michael back home.
01:30 The third man accused of Mr Purse's murder has pleaded not guilty.
01:33 He's yet to stand trial.
