00:00 Egypt's Prime Minister Morsafa Maibouli said his government would use all available
00:04 measures to protect its borders from Palestinian refugees.
00:08 The statement was made during a parliament session on Tuesday as a result of the North
00:11 African country's fears that a mass exodus of Palestinians into Egyptian soil would nullify
00:17 Palestinian demands for statehood and would jeopardize Egypt's security and economy.
00:21 Since the start of the conflict, Egypt has continually ruled out becoming a host nation
00:26 for displaced Palestinians.
00:28 However, thousands of dual nationals, along with hundreds of injured and some Palestinians,
00:32 have crawled from Gaza into Egypt during past weeks.
00:39 "Egypt absolutely and totally rejects the displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza
00:46 Strip to Egyptian land and rejects all Israeli procedures to force Palestinians to do this
00:56 and consider this matter a threat to the Egyptian soil and sovereignty.
01:03 Therefore, Egypt will not hesitate in taking all measures that guarantee the protection
01:10 of its borders.
01:16 And Egypt, in case the occurrence of any scenario that targets the fleeing of Palestinians to
01:20 Egyptian land, will have a firm response in accordance with international law.
01:30 Egypt has a clear stance in respecting the Egyptian-Israeli peace treaty and is committing
01:39 to its terms, but we are expecting the same stance in return from Israel, especially regarding
01:44 the current measures in the Gaza Strip and what it can form as an indirect threat to
01:49 like Gibson's tale.
